What I love about SmartDraw is the Mind Mapping feature, which allows me to create tasks in a visually friendly way that mimics brainstorming. It's been very helpful to me when starting out a project.
Sad to say this is the worst CAD Package I have ever experienced.

It regularly crashes on me as others have detailed. If it crashes once you may as well start again as it will crash continually after that.
Very happy with overall experience with smartdraw. So never got the chance to think about an alternative.
But the show-stopper is that, at least in this release, the software is very unstable and crashes repeatedly as another reviewer commented.
I am very satisfied with Whimsical, it does and helps you complete your goals, it's not frustrating and the simplicity of the software functionality is pretty awesome.
What i dislike about it is interface is not simple and difficult to understand at first.

Being browser based, its biggest downside is slowing down the computer. It crashes every now and then.

I have to strain my eyes just to see the XXL text. Pasting can be frustrating because the pasted image always appears in the same spot, rather than where I'm working.

Erin: My name is Erin. I am a partner in a two person digital marketing agency, and I give Whimsical a four. I was using Microsoft Word projects like Excel prior to using Whimsical, which were very labor-intensive for building wireframes for new websites. I chose Whimsical because it was recommended to me by another marketing professional, and I needed a solution for building wireframes for new websites that wasn't so labor-intensive, and I could speed up my work and lighten my workload. It was easy to sign up for. I do have a free account on Whimsical at this moment. Once I uploaded it and signed up for it, it was a little bit labor-intensive trying to figure out how to use the tools in Whimsical. I haven't found any other solutions for the wireframe issue that I use Whimsical for. So I would recommend it for anyone else who's looking for an inexpensive way to build wireframes for their clients' new websites. There is some learning curve involved in it, but once you can figure out the basics it does speed up the workload quite a bit.
