ExpressionEngine is a CMS tool for organizations to build websites.
Joomla! is a content management system that helps content creators to build websites and online applications.
When I started using ExpressionEngine I liked the variety and quality of add-ons and extensions that were available. It produced clean code, and was highly extensible.
This platform was especially difficult for marketing managers with limited HTML knowledge.
Our website designer used this program and it's been a lifesaver for our organization. There is a learning curve, but it's easy to learn.
Via its plugin architecture it was possible to shape content to fit your needs. Moreover its template system was great and HTML free (meaning that you were in full control of the code).
The platform was robust and allowed us to create a complex event management platform layered on top of Expression Engine. We were able to do most of the things we wanted and it served its purpose.
I have been with Joomla since V1.0 and it has been a great Journey - I have never left it becuse it has proven to be a great solution for all my Projects.
Whenever I've deployed a Joomla site, it inevitably gets infested by spammers and there's been instances where sites have gotten hacked.
A stable and reliable CMS with two-factor authentication and good security features. A full community of developers that offer extensions for nearly any function or integrations you can imagine.
I have experienced quite some problems placing upgrades. Expecially when an update failed (because of the database version for example), the site became unusable.
I was seeking for a powerful software, one which builds any kind of website or blogs, a flexible one as well with vast templets for superb customization. Well, I do not dispute this software at all.
Things we required to run our websites began to break with new releases, and the support was no longer there. It was frustrating, but necessary, to move to something more widely adopted.
A huge base of plugins and extensions, including free ones. Open source, with a great community, which is open to help you with the issue you can face along the way.
What I don't like is that sometimes compatibility errors occur when installing plugins simultaneously.
Tim: Hi, my name is Tim, I'm a marketing technologies consultant, my rating for Joomla is four. Click below for more videos. I use Joomla as a content management system for a large enterprise website. I like Joomla's ability to create components and customize the site easily. I dislike the upgrade pass, it can be complicated to update Joomla when necessary.
Prioritize real-user-identified key features according to your needs to find your best fit.
