Consumer Voice Services

Consumer voice services are analog or digital telecommunication connections provided to end-users. Traditionally, phones calls have been made through a public switched telephone network (PSTN) or landline phone. Voice calls through the Internet or other IP networks are made through voice over IP (VoIP) connections. Both require an associated telephone number.

What Small and Midsize Businesses Need to Know About Consumer Voice Services

VoIP offers many advantages over PSTN, including auto-attendants, call recording, call forwarding, custom caller ID, and voicemail to email. However, most consumers with VoIP still have a PSTN line. For providers, voice service revenue includes the sum of PSTN and VoIP connections. SMBs can make a positive impact on their customers by using a VoIP or cloud-based phone system.
