Pros

  • I have been using this for a while and find it really user friendly, as it’s grown the options for integration into my other platforms is fantastic and so easy to just get started.

  • Overall, ActiveCampaign is a great product. Nice and simple UX great feature set, plenty of integrations, vast training and support documentation library, friendly team.

  • So far it's been amazing. When I first got started, I received 3 free calls with an Active Campaign Expert to show me around the platform and help customize my experience.

  • Take advantage of their customer support to help you learn how to set up. Overall, it's a very reliable, cost-efficient with the most features of other products in its category.

Cons

  • I find some of the terminology confusing and as a result emails have been sent out at the wrong time.

  • I struggled a bit to get the email function working for my monthly company newsletter but that was mostly because I'd made an error with the segment feature.

  • Or the backspace/delete wont work but all other keys on my keyboard do while just in this program. I have worked on emails and lost them.

  • I had a client select it, who then blamed me for the issues with the API. It's frankly defective software.

"ActiveCampaign is a top-notch tool for running automated market campaigns. "
Overall: It has been a super good experience using ActiveCampaign and the results has been a great improvement on the number of successful leads we get after running our marketing campaigns.
Pros: ActiveCampaign allows us to achieve more personalized marketing strategies for our campaigns which help us attract more customers to purchase our furniture products. It allows smooth communication experience with customers during marketing phase and this translate to more successful sales deals. It is easy to use and uses automations to help facilitate better campaigns like use of automated replies to provide quick answers to customers about the products we offer and how to purchase them.
Cons: ActiveCampaign performance has been incredibly great and there is no bit that does not give us the best experience that we need.

"Excellent marketing automation platform"
Overall: I was able to get the platform fully functional within one week, including linking it with my website and CRM system. If is very easy to update contacts and create new automations.
Pros: Very easy to use: can quickly set up many automations, easy to create contact sub-groups, and send out email campaigns. If you have any issues, their customer support is outstanding!
Cons: While pretty good, the email marketing module is inferior to MailChimp.
Alternatives Considered: HubSpot Marketing Hub
Reasons for Choosing ActiveCampaign: Too expensive both in monthly and set up costs.
Switched From: Mailchimp
Reasons for Switching to ActiveCampaign: I was looking for more of a complete marketing automation platform.

"Fragile System Resulted in Lost Revenue"
Overall: We were reasonably satisfied with Active Campaign for the first two years. The system is very slow and affects the user experience, but the automations were nice. However, for a system to break so easily for making such a small change which led to significant lost revenue, caused us to change our opinion of AC. Even when asking Customer Support for help, they simply told us everything was working as expected. No credits, no help, little to no sympathy. We used their system to generate revenue, not lose it.
Pros: I liked having the CRM and email marketing automations all within one solution. This made it easier to track leads as well as provide multiple follow-up emails with interested contacts.
Cons: The fragility of the online forms led to a broken automation that was hidden from us for 6 months and cost us $10,000's in lost revenue. We utilized AC's online web form to collect contact information (highest quality leads), but when we made a small wording change to one of the form options, this broke the automation entired and we ceased getting any leads from this channel. When we contacted Customer Support, they told us it was working as expected, yet there was no warning from the system indicating that we were at risk of breaking an automation, nor did their user guide provide any such information either.
Switched From: Insightly and Mailchimp
Reasons for Switching to ActiveCampaign: We wanted one solution that could do CRM and email automations.

"Powerful Marketing Automation. A bit complex. Great Customer Service."
Overall: Generally very good. I like the product. It is one of the few good marketing automation platforms with a decent CRM.
Pros: Great customer service and marketing automation capability. Also, it integrates with almost anything.
Cons: I was using an industry-specific version of the platform, which was not a good fit for my needs. Learning how to get the most out of the marketing automation was rather complex.
Alternatives Considered: Pipedrive, Agile CRM, Keap and HubSpot CRM
Reasons for Choosing ActiveCampaign: I found an industry-specific version of the platform. But it missed the mark meeting my industry-specific needs.
Switched From: HubSpot CRM
Reasons for Switching to ActiveCampaign: I found an industry-specific version of Active Campaign. But that version was not a good fit for my needs. I switched back to Hubspot and may move to odoo.

"A must have autoresponder"
Overall: My overall experience with active campaign has been very good I've been with them for about 7 years now I've never had any issues with the software it works perfectly fine I'm a happy customer five-star.
Pros: What I like about active campaign is that it's very fast I've never had any issues with it great security and I'm able to do everything from one dashboard setup was also very easy as well.
Cons: The only thing I could say that I like lease is I wish it could be a little bit cheaper as active campaign is more on the high end side so a lot of people still can't afford it.
Alternatives Considered: Mailchimp
Reasons for Choosing ActiveCampaign: I chose active campaign because I knew about the software from a long time and a friend of mine recommended it so I tried it.
