It helps production managers to determine the exact level and cost of inventory required to meet demand. It also computes quantities needed as backup stock, distributes production time among various products, and plans for capacity requirements. - **Resource and asset management:** MRP systems provide information about the raw material availability and the expected yield. This information helps the manufacturer figure out what equipment is required at what time and when extra labor is needed. - **Economically optimizes purchase decisions:** The system calculates the most economical and viable purchase by taking into consideration multiple crucial factors such as material quantity, shipping, and storage cost.
