### "5 star EHR - NO AI!!"

March 9, 2026

5.0

Fantastic. As I stated above, it’s intuitive, well thought out, and customer service has been great.

Pros

I like that I can tell therapists developed Sessions Health. It feels intuitive from a practitioner perspective that other EHRs I’ve used have been sorely lacking. My current favorite thing is a new feature where you can see at a glance on the calendar if the progress note has been written for an appt or not. I’ve also reached out to customer service a handful of times and they’ve been super prompt and helpful! But truly best of all, in mine and many, many, other therapists opinions is that they have not added ANY AI to the platform. This is such an incredible rarity these days and I’m so grateful for it. I don’t have to worry about my client’s privacy being violated by some awful planet ruining AI machine using their personal info to “learn”. Truly, so refreshing.

Cons

I don’t have any complaints. I will say that I don’t use the insurance part of it (I use different platform for that billing) so I can’t speak to how that works.

### "I couldn't imagine doing Private Practice without using Sessions Health."

December 2, 2025

5.0

In the past, I used Therapy Notes and it was not as convenient, didn't have as many features, and the support staff did not try to accommodate any requests. Now using SH, I feel more equip to focus on my clients then worry about some of the logistics of EHR. Anytime someone is needing a EHR, I tell them all the benefits of SH and nothing else compares!

Pros

The ease of each feature. The support staff is always quick to respond and helpful. Clients report using SH is very user friendly and easy to navigate. I love how much I can do within SH, but it does not seem overwhelming or confusing. I also love the price (especially how it has not changed, minus taxes) and how the calendar syncs to my personal calendar!

Cons

There is no app for therapist or clients. When accepting a portal request, it takes you to the note page which does not make any sense. I wish it took us to the calendar to view the appointment instead. - When looking at our calendar view, instead of arrows for 1 week at a time, I wish there was a calendar pop up to help select a day/time instead of clicking 1 week at a time.

The trial period confirmed that SH was the EHR I needed. I was able to play around during my trial period and I learned it had all the features I needed.

Because TN did not have what I needed (client portal, better pricing, easy of use for me and clients) and when I did my research, I learned SH was the way to go and I'm so glad I made the choice.

### "The Best and Easiest EMR/EHR"

December 11, 2025

5.0

Sessions Health is easy for my clients to use, my learning curve was low, it has no confusing bloat, the app works well, and customer service is fast to respond.

Pros

My favorite thing about Sessions Health is how easy it is to learn how to use. I'm legally blind but the website and app are both easy to learn and navigate. I've used Athena, Insync, Simple Practice, and Epic, but Sessions Health is my favorite (because ease of learning curve). It has all the things I need and no bloat.

Cons

I wish the remittance and ERA setup process was more straight forward and integrated. I dread that entire process and it seems some other EMRs have this better handled.

Alternatives considered

[Epic](https://www.capterra.com/p/122278/EpicCare-EMR/)[Carepatron](https://www.capterra.com/p/195467/Care-Patron/)[athenaOne](https://www.capterra.com/p/98735/athenaOne/)[SimplePractice](https://www.capterra.com/p/130710/SimplePractice/)

Reason for choosing Sessions Health

Sessions Health works with insurance companies and shows you remittance inside the EMR. Some don't do that surprisingly. They have basically all the features of Simple Practice, but is more intuitive in my opinion. It's also not overwhelming or clunky like Athena and Epic; it has exactly what I need and none of what I don't bloating my page, like those have. Those two may be great for hospitals (no they're not but hospitals use them anyway lol) but terrible for a provider who doesn't offer medicine and has less than 10 employees.

### "I love my EHR"

January 21, 2026

5.0

It was an Incredibly smooth transition for me to switch from simple practice to sessions. I recommend it to every therapist I chat with!

Pros

The intuitive nature of it and the price point!! I love that my calendar is color coded and that it’s not overly complicated!

Cons

I’d love this AI feature I’ve heard about for the following session! Not sure what it’s called but I think the beta group has it! No issues but that would be a nice feature!

### "Hands down, my best EHR experience in almost 20 years"

March 30, 2026

5.0

I've used a variety of EHRs in my career and hands down Sessions Health has been my favorite, and only recommended EHR to fellow colleagues. I found it incredibly easy to get things started in terms of setting up my notes and patient documents, and start to use it immediately. For the price it truly cannot be beat. So many EHRs nickel and dime you for basics, all of which are directly integrated into their product and at a fair cost. As mental health practitioners who are constantly fighting to be paid fairly, to have a medical record system that isn't trying to extract more money from us is amazing. I am a solo practitioner, so I can't speak to how the various staff roles work, but when I considered expanding it seemed easy enough. Setting up auto-bill and invoicing definitely made my job much easier for any private pay clients, and clients are able to log in and update information easily.

Pros

The ease of setting up my practice, uploading my own documents, and ensuring that I have complete control of my notes, system, and workflow. They also seem to update their product regularly with well designed and thoughtful updates.

Cons

They have reporting functionality, but I wish that you could do a YoY or MoM review. essentially being able to see the 13 month view for a comparison. Mostly this would be for the "overview" section. You can still pull that data and go through it yourself, but seeing it on the overview tab would be nice.

### "Sessions for the win"

January 20, 2026

5.0

My overall experience has been very positive. I have been with Sessions for a few years and have been exceptionally pleased with them.

Pros

Sessions has the best customer service experience out of any EHR system that I have worked with. They are attentive and responsive to all questions.

Cons

Sessions has filled every need my group practice has, so there has not been anything I have liked least.

### "A Private Practice MUST HAVE"

January 20, 2026

5.0

I have LOVED using sessions. It was by far the most seamless part of starting my own therapy practice.

Pros

I love the ease of use with Sessions. It feels simple in a way that helps my brain not feel too overwhelmed with things like booking sessions, collecting payments, completing notes, and connecting with clients through the portal! For how inexpensive it is, it's amazing that it can do so many things! I don't think that I will ever use another EHR system

Cons

### "Best I have seen for customization."

March 26, 2026

5.0

I have been using Sessions for over 2 years, and it has helped my business in the ways that I had hoped. As my practice grew, I need more organization and automation.

Pros

Session has been highly customizable, and easy to use. As a queer and trans provider, who works with many LGBTQIA+ folx, I have been able to build forms that are affirming. The Sessions staff have been friendly and really helpful. Especially in the beginning when I was learning. They also have so much helpful information on the website. Sharing forms and intake documents has been simple, and my clients have not had any issues. Overall it is a great EHR, has what I need to run my practice, and the price is far better than other EHRs.

Cons

Learning how to set up, and use Sessions wasn't very intuitive, but there was so much information, that I was able to learn, and now it feels like it flows well.

### "Best EHR I have used"

July 25, 2025

4.0

Sessions Health has been the best EHR I have used. I have probably used at least a half dozen at this point in my career. The interface is user friendly, it has plenty of assessment tools, and is great for a solo practitioner or smaller group practices. I have used others that are overly complicated, which can be frustrating.

Pros

I like that it is owed locally to me as well as by a mental health provider. The interface is really easy to use. It has been easy to train new interns on.

Cons

The only cons I have really run into is when trying to adjust for a non-billed late cancelation or in trying to discern income from a particular provider over a certain time. It would be ideal to have in the income allocation section, a running total at the bottom for a given period. It would also be beneficial if supervisors could go in and make small edits to case notes, for things such as minor typing errors.

I highly recommend sessions health. They are easy to use, great value, good customer service. They make regular improvements.

Pros

It’s easy to use, great value, outstanding customer service. They regularly make improvements which I appreciate.

Cons

### "Good for Smaller Practices"

December 22, 2025

3.0

It is a decent EHR for a smaller scale practice. We outgrew the system after we had about 10 clinicians.

Pros

It is very affordable and fairly easy to use and navigate. You can easily view the entire clinic's schedule in one place. The patient portal is straightforward and easy for client's to use.

Cons

The types of reports you can run on revenue, client sessions, retention, and outcomes are limited. The report functionality is limited if you want to run complex reports. It is also difficult to see rooms that are scheduled by clinicians in the calendar.

Pros

Pros

I like how user friendly it is, how easy it was to transfer old data, and the updates that are being made regularly. The reminders for clients are great. I also like that there is currently no AI feature - I do not want that option in my clinical practice.

Cons

### "Highly Recommend!"

March 5, 2025

5.0

I am a private practitioner and have used lots of different EMR systems - BestNotes, TheraNest, Simple Practice, and PracticeQ. I think Sessions Health is the best value, as it includes most, if not all, of the features of the high end systems, but at a much lower cost. I also use the telehealth and billing features through Sessions Health, and they are so easy to use and great to have integrated into the same system.

Pros

I love the ease of use, intuitive nature of the system, great features, regular improvements, quick and friendly customer support, ease of billing (including a couple clicks to bill insurance companies), the telehealth option, and low cost.

Cons

There's not much I dislike; I haven't ever regretted choosing Sessions Health! I have recommended it to colleagues as well.

### "I recommend Sessions Health to everyone I know."

May 7, 2025

My overall experience has been wonderful. I'm a solo practitioner and this is the only EMR I've used with my own practice. I've worked in group practices that have used their own customized programs and practices who use big name EMR's, but nothing has compared to Sessions.

Pros

Sessions is very user friendly and easy to navigate. If you have any questions or issues, the response from the team is within 24 hours and they have helped me many times beyond what I thought their scope of customer service was.

Cons

There are customization's I'd like to see for running reports, calendars, etc. Sessions has taken mine, and anyone else's, inquiries for changes into consideration.

### "Sessions Health Facilitates Ease across Multiple Facets of Practice"

May 27, 2025

5.0

Switching to Sessions Health from a different EHR has been the best decision I've made for my practice since starting it more than a decade ago. I spend so much less time on documentation, billing, and filing insurance claims than I have in the past!

Pros

Sessions has streamlined and automated the annoying administrative parts of my practice in ways I didn't even know were possible. I love the availability of auto-scored assessments and easy integration with a credit card processor. The daily digests alert me to tasks needing attention in an organized way, so that my workflow stays as smooth as possible.

Cons

I wish that Sessions had the capacity to project actual income instead of billed income. There can be large discrepancies between what I bill and what insurance contracts pay, and it would be helpful to have a more accurate picture of projected income.

### "The ideal EHR"

March 11, 2025

5.0

I love it so much! It is exactly what I was looking for as I started my solo private practice. I have recommended it to so many colleagues!

Pros

It is so easy to use! I love the interface and the features are everything I need. I especially love how inclusive you are for LGBTQ+ clients (using preferred name and pronouns).

Cons

Some things are very clear about filing insurance claims, especially secondary claims. But I know that most of that is due to the complexity of insurance and not within Sessions Health's control.

Reason for choosing Sessions Health

Mostly cost... Sessions Health is so affordable! But it is also so full-featured and I love that it is a MN company.

Moving to my private practice, I wanted a system that worked better. Needed more flexibility/customization and better inclusivity for LGBTQ+ clients.

### "Excellent. The very best"

May 27, 2025

5.0

Excellent all around. The set up was very easy with the tutorials. I love the ability to create and customize my intake forms and assessments.

Pros

Excellent features and excellent customer service. Very easy to set up and get started. Video tutorials bonus.

Cons

Cannot submit worker’s compensation claims as not able to attach required narrative. Would like to see more auto scoring and ability to schedule assessments to send to clients.

### "Seamless transition with incredible customer service"

September 9, 2025

5.0

Pros

The transition to Sessions Health from another program was seamless. The customer service is fast, kind, and supportive.

Cons

I have not found anything to dislike. I would appreciate an integration options with treatment planners (like the Wiley series).

SimplePractice was getting too expensive, and I wanted a product with similar features that was cost-effective.
