## What is Riverside?

Riverside (formerly Riverside.fm) is the all-in-one platform for recording, live streaming, editing, repurposing, and publishing studio-quality videos and podcasts. Creators and businesses use it to produce broadcast-quality content without the production maze of multiple tools, expensive studios, or technical expertise. Record up to 4K video and uncompressed audio locally on every participant’s device, so quality holds up even on bad internet. Edit by editing the transcript. Turn long recordings into clips, captions, show notes, and translations with AI. Webinars scale to 10,000 attendees. Trusted by independent podcasters like Tim Ferriss, Mel Robbins, and Guy Raz, and by brands including Spotify, Marvel, HubSpot, Microsoft, and Intuit.

I always recommend Riverside since it always comes through for me at the moments that matter most: when I'm establishing credibility and trust with a podcast guest who is already on edge because they're about to be recorded.

Pros

Riverside never fails me. I always get pristine files for each podcast recording, it's easy to use for even the least tech-savvy guests, and I rely on the Made For You components provided after each recording. I'm also really liking the ease of publishing a new podcast via their new Hosting tool.

Cons

Enterprise cost is a HUGE jump from the more basic tiers. As a very small yet growing podcast agency, upgrading was not feasible for my budget yet.

Alternatives considered

[Squadcast](https://www.capterra.com/p/182098/Squadcast/)

[Streamyard](https://www.capterra.com/p/213044/StreamYard/)

Reasons for choosing Riverside

The UI is what I want - simple and sleek. And the consistent performance matters. I actually tested Squadcast with two cohosts for a casual podcast I used to run, and we all liked Riverside better.

Overall, my experience with Riverside has been positive. The recording quality is a standout, with clean, high-resolution audio and video thanks to the local-recording approach. This makes remote interviews feel seamless even when a guest's internet isn't great. Setting up and organizing projects is also straightforward, so I'm not wasting time hunting for files or juggling messy folders between episodes. The one drawback that keeps it from being a perfect experience is the price. It's on the higher end compared to other tools in the space, which can be a tough pill to swallow if you're recording occasionally rather than using it as a core part of your workflow. That said, for anyone who podcasts regularly and values quality and ease of use, the cost has been worth it in my case.

Pros

Riverside really shines when it comes to podcasting. The audio and video quality are excellent. Recordings are captured locally on each participant's device and then uploaded, so you get clean, high-resolution files even if someone's internet connection is spotty. That local-recording approach makes remote interviews feel just as reliable as being in the same room, which has been a game-changer for coordinating with guests in different time zones. Project creation is also refreshingly simple. Setting up a new episode takes just a couple of clicks, and everything, recordings, assets, and participants, stays organized within each project. I don't have to hunt around for files afterward; it's all right there where I left it, which makes managing multiple episodes or a backlog of interviews much less of a headache.

Cons

My main gripe is the price. Riverside sits on the pricier end compared to other recording tools out there, and it can feel like a stretch if you're just starting out or recording only occasionally. It would be nice to see more flexibility in the pricing tiers for lighter users who don't need the full suite of features every month.

I love it so much. It makes m feel confident about podcasting. For the longest time I wanted to start a podcast, but didn't know where or how to start. Riverside makes it easy for me with the AI features.

Pros

I love the Ai features where I can create short clips and remove filler words!I also love how it also give me suggested clips to post on social media, show notes and a script for when I'm recording.

Cons

If I want to put in the same clip of music at the same time, it wont let me and I have a hard time editing it.

Overall, my experience with Riverside has been excellent. I've been using the platform for about a year and a half to two years, starting at the very beginning of my podcasting journey and now continuing to use it as I expand into other content creation projects. Over that time, I've seen Riverside consistently improve the platform with helpful updates and new features that make creating content easier. I've also had a great experience with their customer support—they're responsive and quick to help whenever I've had questions. Overall, Riverside has been the best recording and editing platform I've used, and my experience has been better than with other platforms I've tried.

Pros

What I like most about Riverside is how easy it makes editing. I can quickly improve audio quality, export high-quality videos (up to 2K), and everything runs smoothly and fast. I also love that they're constantly adding new features, automatically creating Shorts and Reels, and making it simple to invite guests for interviews. It saves me time and makes creating content much easier.

Cons

Although I like the eye contact feature, I'd love to see it improve. Right now, it doesn't always accurately match or preserve the person's natural eye color, so making that feature more realistic would make it even better.

Very good overall experience! I was using Descript for recording and editing but the recording was terrible. Half the time I'd have to go back and download separately then try to combine after the guest was gone. I never have to do that with Riverside. I kept Descript for editing because I liked the white background but got used to Riverside and now I only use Riverside for recording and editing. I've used the customer service a few times and it's always exceeded my expectations.

Pros

I use RS for the Evolving Together podcast. The customer service is especially efficient and very helpful. The pricing is fair too. It's easy for guests to join the podcast and I love that it's the same link each time. I like that the original recording always stays intact and then edits are accessible separately making it easy to do multiple versions of the same original. The track cleanup to have both speakers match is also great. I have recommended RS to several people already.

Cons

When editing, the option box for editing pops up and it's too big, especially when offering the AI video editing (which I don't use) making it hard to see what you are actually wanting to edit. The AI voice correction doesn't work well.

Terrible experience with recording. The editing was decent though. I wanted to have recording and editing in one place.

highly recommended but another well known podcast I listen to, decent pricing, easy to use.

It has helped me through multiple podcasts with multiple guests and different types of edits over the years.

Pros

I have been using Riverside for close to 6 years. The updates they have made have been consistent and helpful. Every update blows my mind and simplifies the recording and editing process. Not to mention social media content. Customer Support has been helpful when needed and very receptive to feedback. The AI Constant Eye Gaze feature is my favorite.

Cons

Magic Audio doesn't really work for me personally and sometimes you don't hear the issues until you listen back on different headphones or speakers.

Overall very good until something goes wrong becuase the support is not up to the quality of the program itself. Too hard to reach, too long to respond...

Pros

I enjoy all the capabilities it provides. Being able to record, edit, and publish all right from here is fantastic.

Cons

With all the capabilities it has, there has to be some sort of additional training outside of just the youtube videos because they don't give the amound of detail needed to really become and expert in the product. Wholesale changes to the interface was also an unwelcome shock to the system.

Pros

I really enjoy the convenience of the platform. Record, choose the magic clips and other enhancements to you video, upload, done.

Cons

I currrently have a ticket open that will hopefully fix my latest recording. Once I uploaded it, the audio didn't switch over, but customer service is looking into it right now.

Riverside has been a game-changer for Keys to the Future. The recording quality is outstanding, the platform is incredibly easy to use, and the AI tools have dramatically streamlined my editing workflow. It lets me focus on what matters most—having meaningful conversations with inspiring STEM leaders.

Pros

Riverside is incredibly easy to use, and its AI-powered tools save me a tremendous amount of time by making editing and production much more efficient.

Cons

While the platform is excellent overall, I'd love to see even more customization and flexibility in some of the AI editing features to give creators greater control over the final product.

Riverside made the launch of my organization's podcast simple and streamlined. I've used it in multiple settings now because it makes it easy to set up meetings, record, edit, and publish.

Pros

It's a one-stop shop for producing a podcast. The tools like "Magic Audio" save so much time improving audio from simple earbuds. Also the built in hosting is so easy to setup.

Cons

The platform changes sometimes, usually for the better, but it has been frustrating a few times when a feature disappears or appears temporarily.
