Cons With all the capabilities it has, there has to be some sort of additional training outside of just the youtube videos because they don't give the amound of detail needed to really become and expert in the product. " November 22, 2025 3.0 Overall, it may be good for talking head videos or podcasters, but if you are an educator or want music or the ability to have a lot of co grip over the timeline graphics and text, this is not the software I would choose. The price is reasonable, but features just aren’t there for me that I use daily. Pros I really liked the video download quality. It was clear and high quality recordings I could use in my self-paced courses. I also liked many of the editing features like being able to take out portions of video by simply taking out the text transcript. So easy! Cons A lot of things were not as good as Zoom. You can’t share sound only. If you want to share your computer sound you must also share that screen with your audience or students. I’m a dance teacher so this is a feature I have to have. You can buy MP3s and then upload them to Riverside and play them, but the music will not line up with your body movements or mouth if you’re a singer in the recording. Laying music tracks over your video is nearly impossible in the editor because it randomly just jumps around. You also can’t animate graphics or text like you can if editing in Canva. Meaning, you can’t have things bounce in or anything special. The screen share is also an odd view, there is white space in the recording over the screen. I found a lot of tutorials on YouTube for Riverside and was also recommended by a teacher friend. Riversides video quality is excellent. It's a great starting place and it's also a great place to continue. I'm using it for my podcast. We record we don't use it to stream and it's been great. The AI integration has been wonderful the way that you can just type in there and ask it to make an edit for you and it'll ask follow-up questions and then do the cut and then ask if that's okay and if you want any changes it's been great. Pros First of all, Riverside's learning curve was so manageable. I was starting from a place where I knew what I wanted to do and I had a vision and a passion but I didn't really have all of the technical know-how and even more so the time to get to know the system and I feel like Riverside from the start was very intuitive. It's very secure. I've never had any issues with login or any sort of security breaches. Any issues I've ever had with customer support as far as like billing, follow-up or changing cards or updating card info. It's all been really easy. My ability to create the projects that I envision have absolutely been possible because of Riverside. Me and my team are able to communicate in a way that's so effective. I shared a link with my co-host when we first got the Riverside studio set up and he's been able to just repeat, get right in the studio every time there's never any fuss. We don't ever have sound issues with the premium version which is so worth it. You get all the different magic studio features that are just insurmountable and I'm even waiting for my show to grow in a way to where we can utilize the feature where someone is just in there and is actually just playing the producer role controlling the camera, switching the media doing that sort of thing. So overall 10 out of 10 great products would recommend absolutely. Cons There were some limitations about Riverside that I didn't like. For example, a lot of the really fancy green screen effects and floating banners and things like that aren't really big, but I also realized that wasn't really going to add value the way I thought it would to a product if it didn't already have value. I have used others in the past, and I've gone back to check them out now and then, but I come back to Riverside. It is the easiest and fastest to work with so far for us. I love that they offer videos explaining anything new they have. That library is very helpful. Pros Overall, it is very user-friendly with very good results. The AI creates show notes with very few, if any, errors. The editing tools are amazing. Being able to tweak the sound quality is easy and really helpful. Lots of options available for making a podcast or video what you want it to be. The value for the money is great. I like that I can create all kinds of projects, and it's AI creates snippets of video for social media. I may go in an edit it a bit, but overall, it does a great job. Cons The most frustrating thing about Riverside is really a small thing that just drives us crazy - when they update, things move, and we spend way too much time trying to find the export button for our finished videos and audio. One week it is one place, the next it is under a drop down menu that did not contain it the week before. It's a little thing that causes us so much angst. The ever-changing dashboard is annoying, but having the new updates and upgrades is pretty cool. Occasionally, the program glitches and just won't let us inor shuts down mid-recording, but that hasn't happened lately with the newer updates. It did happen a few months ago way too often. I think they must have fixed the problem. I had fewer problems with Riverside, and it offered more. At the time, Zencastr didn't offer as much, and Descript was more complicated than Riverside, although they are very similar. Once I hit record, I let the conversation flow and rarely have to keep tabs on the app. Once the recording is over, it's easy to edit the show, create shorts, and upload to all my followings platforms. Pros I have been on the platform for over two years and I most enjoy how Riverside doesn't rest on their laurels. There is plenty of updates and new integrations that keep me finding easier ways to create content. Cons Gosh, this is a hard one. I don't think I have any bad experiences with the platform. Once in a while I will have a guest struggle with the new to them tech but thats usually not to hard to walk them through. I was using Descript for recording and editing but the recording was terrible. Half the time I'd have to go back and download separately then try to combine after the guest was gone. I never have to do that with Riverside. I kept Descript for editing because I liked the white background but got used to Riverside and now I only use Riverside for recording and editing. I've used the customer service a few times and it's always exceeded my expectations. Pros I use RS for the Evolving Together podcast. The customer service is especially efficient and very helpful. The pricing is fair too. It's easy for guests to join the podcast and I love that it's the same link each time. I like that the original recording always stays intact and then edits are accessible separately making it easy to do multiple versions of the same original. The track cleanup to have both speakers match is also great. I have recommended RS to several people already. Cons When editing, the option box for editing pops up and it's too big, especially when offering the AI video editing (which I don't use) making it hard to see what you are actually wanting to edit. The AI voice correction doesn't work well. I always get pristine files for each podcast recording, it's easy to use for even the least tech-savvy guests, and I rely on the Made For You components provided after each recording. I'm also really liking the ease of publishing a new podcast via their new Hosting tool. Cons Enterprise cost is a HUGE jump from the more basic tiers. As a very small yet growing podcast agency, upgrading was not feasible for my budget yet. It's also a fantastic platform for webinars and coaching with good sound and video quality. It's easy to use. I don't need to ask for help very often, I can figure it out on my own. The Magic Audio is probably my favorite part. Magic Audio is pretty amazing! The quality of sound really takes a load off of production for me, having 3 podcasts. I also love the fact that I can organize my work by "Projects". Customer service is also very real. If ever there's an issue, a real human gets back to me and acts like a human, not a robot spouting policy. In 2026, that is a major selling point. I also LOVE that Riverside genuinely keeps trying to grow and upgrade. They are never satisfied with being okay. They seem to also listen to their customers, which is why they keep getting better. I have recommended Riverside to others already. Pros I love that Riverside has several services wrapped in one. I have 3 podcasts and Riverside is the best bang for my buck. Cons My only drawback is that Riverside automatically generates AI Magic episodes or Magic Clips. I use both, but not one every single one. It's a waste. I’ve been able to record hundreds of episodes with it, and it has been the most consistent out of all of them. Pros Honestly, Riverside just makes everything way easier. The biggest thing for me is the quality. No matter what the internet is doing, the recordings still come out super clean, which is huge when you’re working with guests remotely. I also love how simple it is to use. I can send someone a link and they’re in, no tech headaches or setup issues. That alone saves me a ton of time and stress. The separate tracks and overall workflow are really solid too. It just feels like the platform was built for people who actually record content regularly. February 23, 2026 5.0 My overall experience has been great. It is easy to record, edit, and post directly from the platform. The AI editing isn't perfect but helps reduce backend editing by a lot. Pros Very simple and easy to use. Easy to customize and collaborate with teammates and great value for the money. Cons I wish Riverside had more built in lower thirds, ability to set up multiple cameras and microphones all at once for in studio recording. You can by other equipment like a video switcher that could work with riverside but it would be nice if Riverside could be kept all in house. Don't second guess it" May 18, 2026 5.0 I've been podcasting for a couple of years, and I've tried other tools. I landed here, and I stopped looking. It's not flashy, it's just dependable. And when you're building alone, and your show is a real part of what you're putting into the world, dependability is everything. I'm not switching. This is my platform. Pros The local recording changed everything for me. My guest's connection can go sideways, and my audio doesn't move. I do a weekly podcast and Friday Night Lives, and I need my sessions to hold. Riverside holds. The quality is there, the interface stays out of your way, and for somebody running everything solo, that's the difference. Cons The editor took me longer than it should have to figure out. Nobody really walks you through it. You learn it by doing it, which is fine, but it could be smoother. And the pricing tiers can feel like a stretch when you're building lean and every dollar has to earn its place. Review Source MG Max G. Host Entertainment Used the software for: 1-2 years ### "Edit from Text; Translate on the Fly" February 27, 2026 5.0 I began using Riverside exclusively for my podcast episode recordings, but it has since become a go-to tool for work I do on the board of the not-for-profit Charles Bruce Foundation. In fact, I often set up Zoom-like meetings with my Riverside link without any intention of recording because it works so well for me. Pros I have been using Riverside for a little over a year since starting my podcast. I am blown away by the ability to edit the audio through a transcript that it automatically generates of your recordings, and when I speak about it with others, such as the director of KICI radio in Iowa, they are blown away by this feature. Another recent discovery I made was the ability to do an interview with people from another country, in this case Ukraine, and get a transcript that is automatically translated. While we utilized a professional translator for the interview, the already translated transcript made subtitle work so much easier. Oh, and though I rarely use it, the ability to turn interview participants into muppets through an AI filter was cute. I may utilize that feature in the future for some attention-grabbing social media marketing. Cons I have had to be careful to keep some guests on the podcast after the recording was completed to ensure the full feed uploads to get the full quality. While was a bit more of a challenge when recording guests from Ukraine, it generally isn't an issue AND the quality of the podcast is MUCH better in the long run because it is not negatively impacted by wifi streaming drops. The interface is clean, joining a session is simple, and the local recording quality is strong even when internet hiccups happen. Cons Audio editing can feel a bit limited compared to a full DAW. Pros As a novice, it was easy to get up and running quickly with Riverside. The chat support and tutorial videos were helpful in coming up the recording and editing learning curve at the beginning. I also love how they are always iterating and improving the product with new features. I eventually hired an editor and am happy that I could invite her to the platform - it makes collaboration on the episodes much easier. Cons It's technology, so it's not without its minor glitches here and there. That being said, none of my episodes have ever been fatally compromised because of tech glitches. " May 6, 2026 5.0 I have been very pleased. I had more than 4 years of podcasting experience before starting a podcast on Riverside. I have used it for video podcasting and hosting of a new podcast. The tools are intuitive and very useful. Pros I like the ease of recording either from mobile or on my desktop. I have been a podcaster for several years and wanted to start doing video episodes. This has been easy to learn. The editing is intuitive, uploading episodes is easy and I have been so pleased. Cons I have 2 concurrent podcasts. One audio only hosted on a different platform and this one. The only thing I wish Riverside had is more detailed analytics. Analytics are good, but with my other I can see a total of every city and every country that has downloaded an episode. I can only see a few on Riverside and I don't see where I can see those analytics for more than 12 months and I can't see cities, only countries. Review Source SM Scott M. Pros I love the result the most, but I also love that getting there is pretty painless. I started a podcast with NO EXPERIENCE a year ago and now have recorded over 40 episodes of Global Student Voices. We do not make any money with our podcast so the value has to be high. This does it for us. Cons I wish I had a free way to have interns work on my episodes. I want them to have experience, but can't afford to have them all get paid accounts, and they change every 3 months or so.
