Owner Graphic Design Used the software for: Less than 6 months ### "Vinylmaster Lettering 5.0 has passed my testing and hope to upgrade for more design features eventually ." September 22, 2026 5.0 It did a beautiful job connecting with my Old Roland 52" CM 500 vinyl cutter . Now a Special serial to USB with built in FTDI switch was needed . VinylMaster was so easy to calibrate the cutter , blade offset , and verify sizing with the software . My last cutter with the OEM SignMaster was making up random sizes and muticolour pieces or larger panelled pieces would not line up, but it was a cheap cutter. Pros I went from an OEM version of SignMasterXPT 3.5 to VinylMaster Lettering 5.0 flawlessy as both are set up identical. ( The XPT having a few more options ) I needed Vinyl Master for a very old Roland CM500 and the setup was easy peazy. No drivers needed , I just installed from the Cutters list when setting it up. I also love the monthly subscription to be able to test it out fully before committing to a more expensive version . I like the "spool all" feature for my sometimes complex designs that would freeze up the cutter . The fact that in only one software : I can edit , crop , or punch out features of an image and then add text , I can Vectorize my digital drawings or customers logos with them having only bitmap images available in a matter of seconds . This 1 program has replaced 4 other programs that I had to jump between for designing. Cons Do not run any Signmaster or VinylMaster demo on the same computer. They used the same registry and I thought I had lost my XPT version as after installing , the XPT would open as the Vinylmaster demo. Fortunately Windows did an update and I got my XPT version back. I tried with out success to add a sandbox or some other drive so they would not conflict with one another. 2 days later , my Laser Engravers would not connect at all like I had lost all com ports. I deleted the demo . Thankfully my XPT stayed and my lasers are working again. So ya , separate computer :) Alternatives considered [SAI360](https://www.capterra.com/p/242178/SAI360/) Reason for choosing VinylMaster The cost and the monthly subscription vinylmaster offered. I didn't want to spend a lot and find out my cutter wouldn't work . So the monthly subscription was perfect to test it out. I invested in a better cutter that needed software to be able to work perfectly. I purchased an older Roland Cutter . We grab it first and typically don't need anything else. You won't regret it! Pros The wife and I have been using VinylMaster for 10 plus years for our sign and printing business. It's her default design program for most everything. GREAT product! Cons It was a little limited when we had the lower tier, but once we upgraded, it rocks! Overall I would recommend it to anyone. "when it works"" September 22, 2026 3.0 In the beginning year VM was great, however over the last yr to 2 yrs the program seems to have repeated issues almost daily. Some days I have to open it 3 or 4 times before it will work properly. For the cost of this program and how many issues we have isn't very good. And when reaching out to customer service they never have an answer or a fix. Pros When VM works it works really well, plenty of tools and creates high-quality graphics. Now that's when it works correctly. Cons Vinyl Master constantly crashes, constantly losing saved artwork and files won't open. If you try to have VM open with say PS or Ai it will crash or bug report will keep coming up. I have a high-end graphics computer so I know it's the program. The main benefit is that you don’t need internet access; I use it when I print on scene (swim meets, basketball tournaments, etc.). Vinyl Master is worth every penny. Pros Simple to use, good customer service, very low learning curve, you don’t need to be connected to the internet. Cons The old (Windows 10) version included free vectorization. The Windows 11 does not. So I have to export an image from CorelDraw as an SVG and import that into Vinyl Master.
