Product is pretty much there. We've enjoyed it and continue to see the benefits. I have recommended to several colleagues.

Pros

I like that it puts the client in pole position of gathering docs. I don't have to remind and nag. And they do it on their time. In addition, I also like having a visual and straight forward approach of what the client is missing and don't have to dig for it, and keep separate notes.

Cons

The AI is not perfect, and it misses task creation. The only snag we encountered was hotmail/outlook emails were rejected but got fixed.

The people are incredibly helpful and insightful. It took very little effort on my part to onboard from my tax software. I am constantly pleasantly surprised, if not overjoyed, with it's simple magic. The client-facing portions are immediately understood. The opposite of the others I've used. Frustration turns to ease and joy of use. Whether my clients are using a phone, tablet, desktop, or laptop, they can easily see what i require of them. Then easily provide it. Securely. By verification. Instead of sign-ins for other apps that drive them crazy. The people at Truss are eager to help. NOT stingy with their time like most companies. VERY available. Any change like this is usually hard. Especially for us accountants. But not this. With their AI and people, it simply hasn't taken much time and effort. The DMS is a HUGE difference between some of the newer tax client interaction software choices. And those that DO have DMS, their organizers and signatures are painful. Not here. Truss has both. I have only begun with the AI portion. But just ask it for suggestions and it immediately provides a slew of great ideas for that one specific client. And thaws just after onboarding. Which includes prior year amounts. I understand it get smore intricate after the full tax prep process. Both myself and my clients keep saying: Where has this been my whole life?! :-)

Pros

Truss is incredibly easy and intuitive to use. It's very easy to navigate. Mostly because of a very simple yet very smart set-up. It is very user friendly. By me AND my clients. While still providing all one needs for client interaction.

Cons

I have yet to find a con. If i must say something, the initial price seemed high. But it includes e-signatures AND onboarding. And it replaces multiple needs.

It's actually Onvio i am replacing. Not listed in Capterra. TR Ultra tax is phasing it out now that they bought Safe send, So i am really replacing Onvio but kind of safe send. Onvio is getting not user friendly and is Harder to use on phone/tablet. Just plain clunky.

Pros

It's easy and simple to use - both for our firm and for our clients. It's fully featured and even allows us to manage our request list through the platform

It's challenging to find something to not like about the platform or the company. The AI functionality is a new feature, but is quickly and consistently being improved

Our firm has used Truss for a few years, and we love it. It helped to transform our business from a drop-off/pickup to 95% online.

Pros

I am able to see the client documents in "review mode" while working on a return. Because of this, I do not have to print documents, so I can work much faster.

Cons

Sometimes the speed slows down if you do not clear the filters. This is not a big deal but it is the one thing that I like the least.

Overall we are extremely thankful that we started using Truss this tax season. We tested Soraban and reviewed demos of other competing platforms and ultimately decided on Truss based on everything it brought to the table for our tax practice.

Pros

Having one single system that covers our 1040 tax collection and delivery process from start to finish made tax season much smoother. A majority of our clients adopted the platform quickly and commented on how easy it was to use.

Cons

Tax return processing is not always consistent and required a trained eye to watch for details. Our understanding is that this is due to AI learning from scans of the cover letter but we have found that there are times when the same letter details can result in a different summary that may require some touch up from a trained team member.

Great. Transition was easy with the help of their customer support. Pretty quick learning curve and clients seem to like it.

Pros

The software is so smart and intuitive. Saved us alot of time getting info from clients and sending them their completed tax returns.

Cons

Some state forms don't generate properly on the back end but Truss fixes promptly. Also had some issues with prior year data being imported in accurately and being duplicated for multiple rental properties.

The vast majority of our clients were happy with the cohesive experience provided by bringing several of our processes under one roof through Truss (engagement letter, information gathering/sharing, esigning, and file sharing).

Pros

Truss is designed to be user friendly for both the accounting firm and client. The Truss team worked with us to utilize the software in a way that fit into our process. The flexibility to direct information flow enabled us to better leverage our administrative staff which freed up our CPAs to complete other work.

Cons

The only negative aspect of using Truss was that we don't have the control to fully customize. The system is designed to make using it as simple as possible. That comes with the tradeoff of limited customization/visibility into processes.

Team has been great to work with. This was our first tax season with them so we didn't use all of their tools as efficiently as we could have, but the potential there is huge. We will definitely be looking to take advantage of more of their great features going forward.

Pros

I love how responsive the team is. Whenever I run into an issue, I send a message through their chat feature and I can be assured someone from their team will get back to me quickly. If the issue is that I don't know how to do something, they send screen shots to hold my hand and walk me through the process. If the issue is due to an issue on their end, they are quick to correct it or find me a work-around. They were extra-responsive during the busy last weeks of the tax season, which is really appreciated.

Cons

That it doesn't talk to my tax software. My work could be even more efficient if this were an option.

As an entirely virtual office, I've come to lean heavily on Truss for a lot of my client interface during tax time. I used to share folders, move documents, and send reminders - all of which Truss handles with significantly less activity on my part. I've replaced processes on multiple other softwares to all be handled on Truss.

Pros

Truss saves me tons of time and hassle in document collection from clients. I use it for both my accounting practice (easy peasy W9s!) and my tax practice. I love that the communications come from my email so they don't get disregarded or lost as spam. Because clients don't have to sign in to upload documents, I have a much higher success rate getting them to use it than any other portal I've used. I appreciate how much control I have. I am a very small practice and don't treat my clients with cookie cutter forms or questions. Truss allows me to create templates, but then easily modify them as needed for each client. The addition of e-signature capacity allowed me to discontinue another SAAS I was using just for that and integrate e signatures more seamlessly into my work flow. All around, it has streamlined my client interface.

Cons

The fact that I didn't have it 10 years ago! The challenge I have had lately is keeping up with the fast pace of change as they develop new features. It's a constant learning curve as new services and features are added and the software changes or becomes more complex.

Overall I would say my experience has been great. The people at Truss have been great to work with and I have very little complaints.

Pros

Great team behind the product. When something goes wrong they are quick to respond and fairly quick at solving the issue.

Cons

Truss as a product is on the newer side and therefor still a little clunky and inconsistent. As time goes on things are getting better. The price has started to creep up and I do ask myself if it is worth it.

Overall experience with Truss was good. Management is responsive to needs and willing to work to resolve issues. With some improvements to business delivery(specifically k1 delivery), it should satisfy all our needs.

Pros

Ease of use by clients and staff. I also like the accessibility of top line management and their responsiveness to our requests.

Cons

Some business features are lacking, but are being worked on. The responsiveness of management and to our needs. Their eagerness to improve their product is refreshing.

I have had amazing experience with Truss!! And it continues to get better with every upgrade they make! Its not only the platform but the support team all the way up to the CEO's. Everyone I have worked with for Truss, has been amazing. They request input from their customer users and are constantly working to add features that will make our lives as tax preparers less stressful during tax season! I am sincerely a Truss "fan girl" and fall more in love with this platform with each upgrade they announce!

Pros

Easy to use for the tax professionals and the clients! With each upgrade and update they make this platform just keeps getting better!

Cons

I have yet to find a con in this platform. Even if I find something that "could be better" or may not work as anticipated,. I am able to bring my concern to the support team and they either provide the necessary explanation or they take my suggestions into consideration for a future update!

We were down a clerical person for the 2024 tax season. We have a great team and we were all hesitant about hiring someone new and them not meshing with our culture. Once we found Truss in November 2024, we realized we did not need to hire a replacement. Truss was able to do the work for us. The implementation was very exciting for us, and you don't hear that very often with software implementations. When clients would send us documents, we would get very excited. Our clients loved the new interface because it walked them step-by-step on what documents to upload and how to do it. Whenever we had questions, the Truss team would take time to answer our questions and figure out how to get us what we needed. Each week, Truss offered learning webinars where we could ask real-time questions and get the support we needed. Hearing questions from other professionals also helped us use Truss during our first year of implementation. We cannot wait to use Truss for the 2025 tax year. We had more clients submit their documents timely than we have ever had in the past. We are looking forward to using Truss' outsource option in the future. They are CONSTANTLY improving their product and implementing time-saving techniques. At least once a week during busy season, our team commented on something cool that Truss implemented to make our lives easier.

Pros

Our clients were able to easily upload their documents with a tailored client request list based on their actual activity from their prior year tax return. Also, whenever we had any type of issue or question, the response from the Truss team was top notch. We truly felt like we were in partnership with them.

Cons

There really wasn't anything I disliked. Whenever we had any type of issue, we worked with the Truss team to get a resolution. I did not like the inability to tailor the client questionnaire. Also, we loved the interface with Stripe until we realized that Stripe was charging 3% for ACHs then we were forced to change payment processors. But even then, the team at Truss helped us to get that set up and it worked so smoothly.

Excellent!! It made this season very busy, only because we had way more clients on time than ever before.

Pros

The ease with which our clients sent their documents! We liked that everything was in one project.

Cons

No dates listed after actions. We run on when people send us information. Our clients got confused on if their returns were done or not. There isn't enough "fan fair" to tell them they are filed. Would love a "Return accepted by IRS" button

Pros

Significantly reduced back and forth emails with clients. Additionally, clients have been a lot more responsive.

Cons

Switching between the drive and the web app is inconvenient. It would be much easier if the drive offered the same functionality as the web version.

Overall, I love the software and the team behind it. I feel like it has simplified a lot of processes internally as well as improved our clients' experience. The team at Truss has been exceptionally helpful and open as our firm has transitioned to their service.

Pros

It's simple for clients to use and solved multiple issues for us, allowing us to reduce the number of softwares/service providers we were utilizing for all of our tasks.

Cons

We are still having some issues with uploading a single PDF with multiple documents in it and getting Truss to recognize and assigned those documents to tasks in the project.

Overall, it made a huge difference to our firm's processes and I was very glad to have found it.

Pros

It is an amazing service for my small tax practice. The fact that it includes engagement/intake/prep/delivery is very helpful. It's like multiple products wrapped into one. My clients enjoyed it and even if every client doesn't use every feature of it, it's still helpful internally which I was initially concerned about since some of our clients don't upload their own documents or do e-sign. I also appreciated that the product got better throughout tax season.

Cons

Nothing really comes to mind, little improvements I'm sure could be made like Quickbooks integration

It was great, and we are looking forward to the improvements and enhancements we trust are coming throughout this coming offseason.

Pros

The ability to keep all of our clients information, documents, contacts and comments in a central location that was then monitored and maintained with timelines and due dates was invaluable this tax season. The support team was timely and responsive, and they were receptive to our input and suggestions on ways make to our experience even better.

Cons

A more clearly defined billing structure would be helpful in our ability to assess the cost/benefit and to be able to make decisions on our invoicing for each client.

Pros

Very helpful in tracking firmwide projects. Very easy for clients to use, and has made client follow-ups a lot easier. Very helpful for the admin side of an accounting firm as well.

Wonderful. I love this program because it has technologically advanced features and are building out a product that will grow as the technology changes and evolves.

Pros

Truss enabled us to quickly and efficiently monitor the progress of our clients submission of documents, and provided the client with that "folder on the desk" that they would shove their documents for our office, now that a substantial amount of the documents are electronic and not delivered in paper

Cons

Honestly nothing. There were/are issues with the program that need improvement but the Truss team has been both receptive and responsive to anything that will improve their product, the preparer experience and the client experience.

100% recommend this product. Time saving. Efficient. Easy to use. Nothing but good things to say.

Pros

1) The ease of the client interface....THEY love it! No passwords and easy to navigate; no complaints from clients since using Truss. 2) WONDERFUL support when needed. 3) The ease of navigation of the site from the Accountants side. Very organized and efficient. Saves us SO much time. We can do everything in Truss.

Cons

I haven't found a negative that I can recall. Even the support videos that can be 90 minutes long are broken up into segments for specific tasks....so thoughtful and easy to navigate.
