Additionally, I have had a positive experience with the customer service. Pros I have some standard and frequently used texts (names, addresses, paragraphs with formal texts) that can be stored and repeatedly typed with Typinator. Typinator can be used to store and recall them with a few keystrokes. It is a value-for-money tool on my Mac. Cons It is not easy to remember those abbreviations I've saved, and it's easy to get lost in the sets of abbreviations. Cons I can’t figure out a way to have it not put an extra blank line at the top and the bottom on half of my responses. Typinator has become a core part of my workflow on the Mac. It’s reliable, efficient, and incredibly easy to depend on. Over the years it has consistently saved me time, reduced repetitive typing, and made my work smoother overall. It’s one of the few apps I would immediately reinstall on a new machine without even thinking about it. I honestly can’t imagine living without it at this point. Pros Honestly, it’s indispensable. I’ve been using Typinator for about ten years, and it saves me time every single day. The text expansion is incredibly powerful and flexible — from simple shortcuts to more advanced snippets, it just handles everything effortlessly. It’s rock solid and runs quietly in the background without ever getting in the way. I also really appreciate how responsive and helpful their support team has been whenever I’ve had a question. Responsive and product is continuously developed. Pros It just works fine and never made any problems. That it’s not using AI :-) That it is continuously developed and supported like the other of your products. Cons The interface could be better designed. Sometimes I mix up the different sets. Maybe using a color code for each set to distinguish the sets. Sometimes I can’t remember the shortcuts, maybe there could be a help window from the menu bar icon to show the current shortcuts. I particularly appreciate the automatic lowercase or uppercase conversion depending on the letters used, the possible use of scripts, the overall speed, and especially the reliability of this product, which has practically never experienced a bug in my experience since its use. We have been loyal users of Typinator for more than ten years and will continue to use it every day. Cons The interface could be a bit more modern and the integration of artificial intelligence would definitely be a plus, even more so with its own key or rather especially with its own key. I found it in college and it's been indispensable to me since then. Despite using BetterTouch Toolbar, \[sensitive content hidden\] and now Raycast instead of those two, nothing has replaced Typinator's functionality for me even if the other products offer some typing snippets. I use form field expansions everyday to take and setup meeting notes in obsidian. And the daily spelling corrections and expansions have been huge productivity and sanity boosts for me. All the way from being a student, then email support person (heavily using form template expansiona for entire emails in that role, to being a developer quickly adding commonly typed syntax into code. Thank you for all the years of this amazing product! Pros Rock solid, feature packed, and the most advanced typing expansion program I tried. After years and many contenders, Typinator still remains the best. Cons Sometimes applications like Warp with Claude Code can receive duplicate inputs when corrections happen. Database Developer Retail Used the software for: 2+ years ### "Love the simplicity, power, and support!" February 19, 2025 5.0 It started off pretty basic, just simple expansions. But once I actually read the user guide and realized how easy it was to do some really powerful things it was off to the races. I feel like every 6-12 months I "level up" my Typinator skills and unlock even more cool things I can do that really save me a TON of time! Also, the few times I've had to reach out to the support team they've always been super helpful and friendly. Maybe a little bit psychic too because almost every time they've mentioned that there were new features in the pipeline that would improve my experience with the issue being discussed, and so far it's always been true! Pros I love the flexibility and power it gives through calling external scripts. I can easily leverage pre-made shell scripts and AppleScripts written by others simply by tying them into an expansion. The built-in commands are pretty powerful in their own right (being able to prompt for input to use is SOOO coool!) as well. I've used the apps own AppleScript support to automate creating expansions for code libraries from my own home-grown library. Cons This is tough. I sometimes wish there was a way to have "internal" expansions that could accept parameters, so that I could have a shared expansion that gets called by other expansions they could pass it arguments to operate on, but that's what external scripts are for. Sometimes it seems like overkill to write an external script when the built in commands are powerful enough \*if\* I could pass a parameter. But that's pretty minor. No real complaints! April 1, 2025 5.0 Of all the third-party apps on my Mac, Typinator is the most reliable. No problems with updates and upgrades. It's the perfect tool for filling in text, especially text and numbers that you need over and over again. I use it countless times a day and it has saved me lots of valuable time. Not to forget is the fair price modell by the developers. Pros Typinator is well designed and easy to use. I use it for a long time now and it's updated regulary. In all those years I never encountered major issues and if you have questions the friendly support answers pretty quick. It's a must-have app on a Mac saving lots of time. The time saved and the certainty of correct spelling with simple preparation are great. Pros Typinator is a small but incredibly powerful tool in the daily work of our agency. Many of our photographers use it to ensure a fast and reliable workflow when handling IPTC metadata for our sports photos. The ability to exchange data and to import/export various formats makes our work much easier and truly adds value. Cons It is really difficult for me to find any decisive disadvantages. June 16, 2025 5.0 I really like the breadth and functionality of the preloaded sets. Support was helpful, prompt and courteous. Pros Excellent price, value and support! The preloaded sets that come with it are extremely useful and extend functionality to more than just simple text replacements. It has HTML snippets, math and even date functionality. Cons I wish it had sync functionality built in where it could backup to iCloud/Google Drive. Pros I use it all the time to save myself from having to do lots of typing. It also serves to standardise my responses to things. I love the way it can also expand HTML code as that allows the expansion to include all kinds of formatting. I also love that it is a one time purchase - not a subscription. Cons It is a bit annoying when it is disabled by other programs but that isn't Typinator's fault - it is just the way the MAC OS works. Sometimes I trigger an expansion when I don't want one but that is my fault and easily fixed by changing the abbreviation. Pros I can use Typinator for both business and personal use. I've created everything from short snippets to entire emails in Typinator. Much of the work I do requires reaching out to multiple people/organizations with essentially the same message. Typinator allows me to almost instantaneously create correspondence for each one that can then be customized simply by adding their name in the Greeting. I'm also often asked by clients for availability dates, and I have a simple snippet that details my calendar procedure and includes a link to my online calendar. Cons Mostly user error. I have so many snippets, I sometimes forget I've created one, and inadvertently trigger it. However, being able to choose character case and other variables helps mitigate that. I have used similar apps on my Mac, but none have compared. Pros Typinator saves me oodles of time when responding to prospective clients and with my client follow-up. Clients constantly comment on how quickly I get back to them with information specific to their needs. I can do this in large part because, with a few keystrokes to trigger the appropriate information I've created and stored in Typinator, I can provide fantastic customer service and save myself loads of time. Cons I appreciate Typinator so much that I feel compelled from time to time to send a note to its creator telling him how integral it is in my day-to-day life. Ironically, I was about to send a note of appreciation of my own accord when I received the email asking if I would review my use of Typinator. I have used your product for years and although I use it extensively, it sort of flies under the radar because I rarely see the app itself. I just want to let you know that I find it in valuable for two reasons: 1. I do a ridiculous amount of repetitive text 2. I have chronic pain in both shoulders and using my fingers aggravates the pain On the first point, you can save me literally hours per day. I don't actually save time, I become more productive because I use that time to do more work. On the second point, the less typing I do, the less I aggravate my shoulders.
