### "Excellent Platform for Backend use"

July 13, 2024

5.0

Pros

Baserow implementation was fast and cost effective both as it took us barely 30 minutes to transition from our retro database, Airtable to Baserow.

Cons

Documentation should have examples for Java and Kotlin used in Android Development. Android holds a substantial share in app development market. So examples for them should be given and if possible, an Android SDK be developed and maintained.

### "Aplicaciones Personalizadas Sin Codificación"

April 23, 2024

5.0

### "Superb open source project management tools"

I love using Baserow, it helped my team to manage the task.

Hi FX Bayu, thanks for taking the time to review! We don't get a lot of requests for a desktop version of Baserow, but if our community members are interested, it's something we can look into. In the meantime, there are some solutions that turn web apps into "native" apps using wrappers. Suggest looking into that if it's of interest. Regarding views: Baserow has Grid (table) Kanban (board), and Calendar views available. Lastly: Be sure to enable rich text formatting when creating a Long Text field. That should help! –Hiram

### "Free and easy to use"

April 23, 2024

We have helped several clients who want to be able to edit spreadsheets and show that data in real time on an application set up base row. We have also helped several people move off of air table onto base road to save the money!

Pros

Our team loves how easy it is to set up new tables and how cheap it is compared to Airtable!

Cons

We prefer the cloud hosted option over the self hosted option, and don’t have a lot of negatives!

### "Highly recommended visual database for long-term use"

April 25, 2024

5.0

I enjoy using Baserow and am happy to be part of the community. Open-sourcing your own product is not always easy in terms of intellectual property and old-school business mindset. I've migrated from Airtable/SmartSuite to Baserow and use Baserow for summary and visual data management that works well with other databases like Cloudflare D1 and MongoDB (integrated with Make.com). When it comes to Application Builder that the Baserow team is currently working on, according to their webinar, they plan to integrate other data sources and to develop a chart/graph feature, so I'm looking forward to using it. (Competitors/alternatives could be not only Airtable, but also Retool and Softr) Overall, Baserow is a cost-effective and strategic solution for your digital transformation.

Pros

\- Cost effective from free to 5 USD per month - Simple and clean interface - Simple but useful API endpoints - Nice and supportive community - Application builder is evolving now - Open-source mindset and movement

Cons

\- Application builder could have more feature (expectation for the future) - Filters should be sent as POST request rather than a GET parameter

### "It's easy to create databases and project management systems"

April 23, 2024

Overall I'm very happy with Baserow, and it allows me to deal with the information I need for a fair price.

Pros

The huge ammount of field types, which allows the creation of very complete and complex information systems easily.

Cons

### "Good, and improving"

April 23, 2024

4.0

I believe a lot in Baserow, it's clearly not perfect yet, but it's far more reliable than Airtable for many use-cases (anything that is "backend-powered"). The product team is doing a good job, the tech team has mostly made great design decisions. Stuff could be better, but they're listening to their customers. I like to compare Baserow to Airtable, because they're very much alike UI-wise, and are meant for the same people, those who aren't necessarily deeply technical but who know how to design a DB. It's much more simpler than Supabase/Xano, and with the recent addition of the App Builder (Beta), it will become even better and usable by many more people.

Pros

\- I love the fact it's open-source - Easy to deploy on self-hosted server - API is great and well designed - UI is good, although not as good as Airtable - Writing Formulas is a pain (UX can be improved) - Lookup/Rollup behave strangely with relationships - App Builder is the future

Cons

\- Airtable UI is better/faster - Airtable provide more features (sync tables)

Alternatives considered

### "Baserow: The Low Code Base we all wanted"

May 16, 2023

5.0

Very good. I'm rooting for this platform to succeed in the long run.

Pros

I like that it is using a FOSS model, and features self-hosting. The UI is much more laid back compared to competitors like SmartSuite and Airtable. Which can be a bit much with the UI colors. Baserow has the cleanness of a tool like Notion which I prefer. Also, the templates are really good. Would love to be able to help expand them.Love how the forms work as well as public sharing, it's just better than Airtable's setup here. Something nice about the cloud-based version.

Cons

The user access is really bad. There should be a way to share a single base without everything in the workspace without having to go to the highest plan. Even then going through teams only for that kind of access is archaic and harder for users to manage. I have files I'd like only certain people to access, and sometimes on an individual basis. I would love it if Baserow had a feature to let guests edit public files without an account. Similar to a form.Wish it had more "extension" features, maybe a click-up or notion direct integration. Zapier helps here, though, I want to use this as a database inside of other tools directly. There are a lot of systems that do project management very well and it would be better to use this inside of those than lock it as a competitor of those systems to "compete". The pricing model is what it is, but I don't like it. A huge reason of why I've switched out of Airtable was cost. It seemed like you kept upgrading and upgrading and still were missing key features behind a payroll. For a team that got expensive. Baserow is much cheaper, but I'd feel more inclined to pay for the premium if I got more for it. Not just one user, not all of these scope limitations, a real value add for an org. This software is competing against google sheets which works just as well for 90+% of people with the same use cases for absolutely no cost. Figuring out how much you're going to pay for a team with most of these base software's is going to require thi

Cost, convenience, and the opensource title. Stuff is moving to self-hosted. Value adds. Etc. Software has never been this good, and this diverse. So the best players are going to get the attention over time.

### "Affordable and Growing alternative to Airtable and Notion"

May 12, 2023

5.0

Overall, I had a solid experience using Baserow and I would recommend it to anyone coming from a background of using Notion or Airtable. I had connection issues with Notion and Airtable where I am from. However, I could easily fix that problem by hosting an instance of Baserow in my own server.

Pros

I think the most I liked about Baserow was that it offered a lot of the features I was expecting coming from using Notion. I also worked with Airtable before and I think that Baserow can substitute both those platforms. But it exceeds them because Baserow is open source. That's what I like about this app. You can host it wherever you want and you get a solid user experience. I certainly see myself using this app for my day to day needs and for my clients as well. Also preparing templates with this app is easy and I would definitely pursue that angle as well.

Cons

I feel like a rich text field like HTML or Markdown is missing in Baserow. I saw it in their development roadmap and I can't wait to also see that field in the list of fields Baserow offers. This is important to me because with this field, I won't have to rely on google docs, or uploading markdown files to the attachment field for writing longer form content.

### "Excellent tlTool for Multi Variable Cataloging "

June 1, 2023

5.0

Pros

Baserow is the most affordable software on the market that allows for easily creating a highly customizable, multi variable catalog of items and even has the capacity to include photos. I use it to create and sort lists of hundreds of items and props and organize them by all the scenes that they play in. When the scheduled day for a scene changes, with a few simple clicks, I can change the day that scene was slated to shoot on and all the dozens of not hundreds of props associated with that scene shift to the new day. It has shaved so much time off of managing itemized lists.

Cons

The interface on mobile or tablet is a bit crowded. But I understand that is also somewhat because of how I use the product out in the field. I feel like the card view could have more formating or vanity organizational options.

Hi Kim, thanks for your review! Awesome to see that you're self-hosting Baserow. We're always working on making it even easier to self-host, especially for non-technical folks. Stay tuned for more developments on this front. – Hiram

### "Baserow - The Open Source Low/Code Platform for Business"

April 23, 2024

5.0

Pros

I appreciate the way that Baserow offers a familiar and intuitive interface for building business applications. The fact that it's open source is the icing on the cake.

Cons

Feature parity with competing applications (e.g. Airtable) can create an (somewhat unfair) sense that Baseerow is "missing something". However, when one fairly examins the platform in its own right, Baserow is a solid and feature-rich option for getting your business or project off the ground.

### "Baserow functional modern database approach"

May 11, 2023

5.0

Pros

I probably like the functionality and having the ability to self host the product is very important to be able to fully customize and align it with the institution's requirement

Cons

The only thing we are missing is the live data view. For example is the live connection between airtable/google sheet existing table where we can see the changes to the original table in real time

Hey Domingo, Appreciate your recommendation of Baserow. Glad you and your team is making good use of Baserow's self-hosted solution to stay compliant with all necessary policies and requirements. We have real-time collaboration, and changes to the database are always reflected instantly. I may not be fully understanding what you're referencing here when it comes to live data view, but we're happy to look into it for you if you pop your question into the Baserow Community (community.baserow.io). - Hiram
