The data tiering process and removing the persisting layers by using DTP to load data from source to stage DSO. Nice product by SAP Pros The Data tiering process BW4HANA has given is what fascinated me the most. It has 3 layers of data management hot,warm and cold based on how frequently the data is used. Cons Migration from old 3.x and 7.5 BW is very much complex and costly which is why most clients still not moved to BW4HANA. I don't like to be overly negative about any kind of tool, but I must be honest. I am not a fan of SAP BW. I'd prefer Netsuite or Hyperion HFM for the same purposes (I work in finance). Pros I don't want to simply write a complaint here. But, out of ALL the reporting systems/database-tools I have used throughout my career (and there have been many), this one was absolutely my least favorite. Cons 1\. User Friendliness - From the upload templates, to setting up new retrieves using BW's formulas, to the resources of your PC it consumes because in Excel it operates as an XSLXM file (which also leaves the files open to security vulnerabilities), this system is really convoluted to use, difficult to track down and fix errors in formulas because they are so long and hard to follow through all the variables, and it takes a long time to train for proper use. All of the new acquisitions, as well as several of our international subsidiaries, were all on different reporting systems. We had no database uniformity. This was the program which upper management decided that ALL of our subsidiaries & new acquisitions should have.
