April 14, 2017 5.0 We have used Sharefile for about 3 years, It helps to have the option to send large files securely and fast. We have saved files on the Sharefile website to send out to different customers. Pros The ease of creating a link for someone to download files or documents, that otherwise could not receive attachments. Cons A less complex downloading screen, some customers did not understand the link and thought they had to sign up to download the files. ShareFile has an add-on that integrates into standard Outlook email platform. The add-on allows you to email large files using a secure third party FTP, where sensitive documents can only be accessed by permitted parties. It's easy to set permissions if you allow the document to be shared with others. Works well for cloud sharing documents and files where collaboration is needed. You can set a time duration for files to automatically delete themselves, so that makes managing storage capacity easier. Cons No real cons that I can think of. Perhaps for some people who are not tech savvy might have trouble setting up their personal preferences, but this could apply to any software. I found it easy and intuitive to set up using the web app, mobile app, and the Outlook extension. Pros Drag 'n drop encryption for clients, and easy "upload" portals to receive information. Cons We use the Gmail plug-in heavily, which has become a problem. More often than not, the 1st time we upload a file with the plug-in fails. We then have to reload the screen, and upload a second time for it to work. In our busy season, our bandwidth allocation for the product adds up quick when uploads are duplicated. The ED also made us use sharefile for every file we shared even if it was just information about a staff birthday party. I realize now it was because sharefile is not cheap, he was really trying to get his money's worth. So if you need top level security, this is probably your go-to. Cons Really, just price. Cost is a bit high for the market. Pros I have a professional business and so I like the clean, professional look of this service. It reflects well on my practice and appears more legitimate than something like Google Drive. Cons I think their functionality could be a bit more robust. I would really love to see an easy way to collect signatures from clients (without paying a ton extra), for example. Customers do not have the same features as paid users so there are limitations on working on files together which makes it more of a version control mechanism. Pros Very easy to use. You can create any file structure needed to meet your needs. Also provides excellent file security during transmission and storage. Cons Only a document repository and we needed more. Pros I really like that we can share the link with multiple users to upload the docs. It's very simple just click and upload. We can share multiple files at a time. this link will be active for a couple of months it depends on how you set it up. It is a very secure way to share documents. Cons The only problem is who so ever uploads the documents that person can't access those file in future and you can't track what you have already shared and what is pending. Cons My biggest con for this software is its lack of a taskbar shortcut to access their software to upload documents. Dropbox has one and it's the biggest complaint I get from users even though Sharefile has other alternatives and shortcuts to upload and access documents. Review Source JE Jeff E. I use the email link feature (a link at the bottom of your email for anyone to transfer files TO YOU) as well as the web page link (same thing for your website) and the every day upload of big file packages for my subcontractors. I've even 'sold' it to some of my subs after they experienced how well it worked Pros What's not to like? It's simple, it's powerful, it's STABLE! It works so well I forget about it actually being there! I've used all of the FTP transfer systems available today. I won't say who, but some are just horrible in every way, ShareFile is the antithesis of bad. Within 24 hours of signing up, I had our company up and running in a big way. Today, just a few months later I can't imagine doing what I do without it. Cons We had one little problem with our company graphics loading. A customer service rep fixed it in 20 minutes. Pros The software includes a number of additional features, including secure email, and the ability to easily and affordably add more. I have used this software now at three different companies. Set up was easy and the help center guidance was very good. Cons Set up of folders was a little tedious and slightly cumbersome but was very easy to figure out and add/subtract people as needed. Easy to use and easy for our customers as well. Pros We use Sharefile on a daily basis for our company. It allows our customers to upload files and our employees get notified when something is uploaded so they know it's available to download. We also use it for the storage of files as well. Cons I would have to say the price is pretty high for what we use it for but it truly is a great software. They provide feedback and click "approved" once approved all within ShareFile. Pros \- Approval Workflow for collecting feedback and getting approval from partners - Very simple and easy interface - Ease of adding new clients - Unlimited number of clients - Pay per user (admin) - Notifications and automatic reminders Cons \- Can't click links within a workflow - Sometimes it'll time out and we've run into a few bugs - Can't change admin in a workflow and only the administrator who started the workflow can add a new workflow. It would be nice to be able to reassign this because if someone is out of office or we need to change ownership, we have to start a new workflow and this confuses clients Review Source JH Justin H. Podio was the original program we went after, but when we realized this would be part of the deal, we were very pleased. Before we had been storing files on everyone dropbox and google drive accounts, and it became tedious to keep up with all of the logins and which account the files were on. Now, all of our cloud files are in one place. It is very easy to share large files with other companies or our field crews through sharefile. It also has an addin for outlook that will automatically generate a link if the attachments in the email are too large (user defined size), which is fantastic. It takes out the guessing game of, hmm....I wonder if this email will go through or not. Cons Having used this product for over a year now, at least weekly, I have not had any issues with the software. We did not shop around too much for cloud storage services, however, I cannot speak for certain to the price and features of the competition out there. Pros It holds tons more data than our previous file sharing software and is not a two step process like the previous one was Cons it is not as intuitive to use as other similar products. It is easier to use through the desktop than on the actual site. So you can open lots of programs easily in your laptop, even it is not possible to open with your current computer capacity. The negative thing is, you cannot share your screen with other users, which is one of the provided property by competitors of CITRIX. Pros Provide an access to use a high quality computer in any location where you have an internet access. Cons Screen sharing is not possible. February 8, 2020 4.0 Sharefile is a good solution with a simple easy to use interface. It works well for sending large files inside and outside the company. The tool provides simple instructions for downloading files from others. Pros Sharefile allows people outside and inside our company to upload files via a secure link. These files can be targeted to specific individuals. It also integrates well with Microsoft Outlook as a plugin which provides a good user experience. It is really useful because it allows us to share files without having to make a user account. Cons The process when logging into it using our corporate single sign on solution may be interrupted at certain points in time. This can cause frustration when using it's GUI. It's not intuitive, it's slow, it's clunky, and from a user's perspective, it's nothing revolutionary or unique compared to other methods of sharing files (aka, Google). If there was a pop up window, that would make a huge difference. It does what it does well. Pros Sharefile is really easy to use. I had no training on it and understood immediately how to use it. Also it makes it simple to share files with other people securely and to collaborate with your teammates on the same documents or files. You can also recover past versions if you need to. Cons If you have a Lot stored on sharefile, it can be require a lot of clicking to access or move files.
