Pros

  • I like that you have a dashboard for your company and then 1 for each client. The ability to have documents signed by clients through Basil is a great feature.

  • Every interaction I have had with Basil has been fantastic. They are responsive, amazing at follow up and so very easy to work with.

  • The best part of Basil however is how fantastically responsive they are for everything from Customer Support to suggested changes and updates to making their product a better fit.

  • Nice interface, good customer support. New updates are good, they take feedback from users to make it better.

Cons

  • I feel so sassy telling my client to put your tax forms in Basil and I'll get started right away.

  • I'm struggling to find something here. If I've ever had a problem, I mentioned it to the support team and I have watched many of my suggestions get implemented.

  • After using another product and having problems with customer service and getting no help at all from customer service, I was cancelling the other product, and we found Basil.

  • What worries me, is that people who don't have the application, and work directly on the web, they can not find when they google it.

"I am excited to tax time! I feel so sassy telling my client to put your tax forms in Basil and I'll get started right away"

Overall: The trainer was perfect and it didn't take much time. I started using it and uploading client documents right after the 1st training. I felt like a pro right away. Our clients just started using it and are not having as much difficulty as they did with all the other programs like this. 1. I send one email 2. Our client logs in 3. The client gets an email when I add a document to their folders 4. A new client can have documents saved for them and a new client contract requesting an e-signature when they set up their login.

Pros: Basil has all the components needed for my accounting/tax firm. Every year I tried a new Client Management Software preparing for tax season. I'd end up frustrated and not using it after a few weeks. My clients said Basil is straightforward to use. The best part is they feel safer with the download security. No emailing, dropbox, or driving to the office. It has saved so much time. The presentation is very professional, making our firm look cutting-edge.

Cons: The only thing I can think of to call the least liked thing is I get asked "What is Basil?"

Alternatives Considered: Microsoft To Do and MangoApps
Reasons for Choosing Basil: It worked and added the features I wished for. It is all in one place.
Reasons for Switching to Basil: I listened to what it had to offer, I got a free trial and it was so easy I was using and couldn't quit.

"Basil Rocks"

Overall: Excellent - 100% Altamesh was very attentive, supportive, thorough and continually followed up during our trial period for any issues/questions. Glad he's on our team!

Pros: It is very user friendly and our clients LOVE it as it's really easy to upload documents compared to our last portal. We have so many other options as well that we haven't even begun to use but are excited about (i.e., forms, auto sign, emails, chats, etc.) Also, it's nice to have a few contacts we can actually speak to along with the support link which we did NOT have before. Lastly, the integration from our old portal to Basil has been easy as we just hit upload or drag the files from one the old to the new. It's not some tedious, long process.

Cons: I haven't found one yet but if I do you'll be first to know. Really excited about this portal as it already has simplified my job immensely. Thank you.

Switched From: Iris Works
Reasons for Switching to Basil: Clients could not load documents, the upload button would disappear all of a sudden. No phone or chat support. Only contact via email, which I will say he did respond in a timely manner but never really resolved our issues.

"An easy-to-use option for clients to share files. "

Overall: I have not had any problems overall. My representative and I have discussed suggested capabilities on several occasions, and they have been open to the ideas.

Pros: When it comes to sharing reports with my clients, Basil has been a fantastic choice. An inexpensive and user-friendly choice.

Cons: There are some file types that are not compatible.

"New Product, Mixed review, hoping it will continue to improve. "

Overall: So far so good, we did have to drop the document management and signature aspects.

Pros: I really like the practice management side of things. The ability to look at data in a spreadsheet form is awesome!

Cons: I don't love the document sharing side of things. I also do not like the fact that once you send a client an invite you can't resend it. Clients are not great at acting right away. I don't like that there are things that ONLY one person in our company can do. This creates a bottle neck.

Reasons for Switching to Basil: Practice management was difficult, but stayed with them for document management.

We are continuously making improvements to our product and if you can reach out to Basil Support, we would be happy to address your feedback on our roadmap. 2. Basil does support resending an invite to a client who has not responded. After adding a client, click on the three-dot menu for that client and you will see a "Resend Invite" button. 3. Basil has a flexible permissions system that lets you add custom roles, add custom permissions into each role, and add team members into roles so that multiple people on your staff can perform tasks safely. "Getting Organized"

Overall: My experience so far has been very positive. I do not have a lot of time being a small tax office. Each person I have worked with has been very patient and accommodating to my schedule and needs. I'm excited to be able to have a better level of organization of work flow.

Pros: I've been doing a demo with Basil for a while trying to figure out a better way to manage my accounting office and keep up with the work flow and deadlines. Having the ability to easily have clients sign documents is a godsend! The support staff has been very patient in helping me learn how to get things done. I look forward to having a smoother tax season and to manage all my bookkeeping clients instead of writing sticky notes to lose.

Cons: Having to learn something new. I will say the staff has been very patient in helping me traverse the software.

Alternatives Considered: Canopy
