The onboarding session was completely customized for me and my team. Pros I love being able to have a folder/file structure. So far my favorite is the ability to open and edit excel in the program. The price is very affordable for a small or solo practice. Cons No android app yet, hopefully that is in the works. Pros It's user friendly and helps keep all information in one place for each client. Cons The fact that we cannot request documents or send links for documents through email. I am sure I am probably not using many of the features available. Pros Great client portal allows us to easily upload files to our clients, allows KBA compliant e-signatures that are easy to use. Clients can also easily upload documents to the portal for our review. Customer service is fantastic. Tech support is amazing - quick to respond and fix any issues. Cons Most of my initial complaints have been fixed - having clients sign up was clunky the 1st year (they would sign up as a company instead of one of your clients) but that has been fixed. The product works well and is easy to navigate and implement. The support team is exceptional. I've always had a wonderful experience with all facets of Basil. Pros My favorite part about Basil is that it was easy to set up. I did not need a lot of training to get it set up and running. I have been using Basil for quite some time without needing to change much of how I originally set it up. The software is user-friendly for me, my coworkers, and my clients. Cons I'm struggling to find something here. If I've ever had a problem, I mentioned it to the support team and I have watched many of my suggestions get implemented. This team is very responsive to their customers. Reason for choosing Basil The excessive cost for other products was my first reason. I feel the support is way beyond any software support that our firm uses. If we have a question, we get personalized support and actions met. Pros Support and ease of use. We have had special things built into the program that our firm needs to be successful which in turn will help other firms as well. Cons The learning curve. Access sharing for one CPA with multiple clients. Reason for choosing Basil After several virtual meeting and demos, we decided that the software would meet our needs and made the switch. We are happy we did. Customer service has been great and I have not had any problems with them speaking over my head or discounting what my concerns have been. Pros I like that both my clients and I can access, upload and download important documents to a secure location. Cons I can only have one document open at a time. We love the features of this product, and that the support staff works with us to make sure that our needs are being addressed. Cons It takes a little while to navigate through the files because of the cloud server. If this speed could be improved, that would be great. They can upload the files I need and I can share back with them. Cons I wish the interface was a little easier to use to share documents with clients. The response has always been very quick, and my questions have been answered clearly. Pros I am an older accountant, not very tech-savvy, nor very interested in becoming tech-savvy. I needed a simple, straightforward method to send and receive sensitive documents to and from my tax clients. Basil was easy to set up and is easy for me to use. The few times I've needed help, support has been quick with the answers. My clients have all reported positive experiences both with Basil and with support. Cons Really, there isn't anything I don't like about Basil. I know I barely scratch the surface of what Basil can be used for, but everything I use works great. Reason for choosing Basil I considered several other products that I can't now remember the names of. The others were far more expensive and didn't offer any more services that I needed. Cons The only con was that I did not realize that I had annual selected, so I was billed a large amount. When I reached out to customer service, they showed me how to switch to monthly. I've tried other software to help keep me organized but with little success. With Basil, I can customize it to suit me and how I work which is a big help. I look forward to trying the other features. Has worked well for what I need to use it for. Secure file upload, e-signing documents. Good customer support. Pros User & admin friendly, good features, e-sign documents, a good amount of supported file types, pretty easy for clients to use, one time upload & download links, hopefully secure. Nice interface, good customer support. New updates are good, they take feedback from users to make it better. Cons The pricing is pretty high for small businesses & I really hope they don't raise the prices after a couple years or it would be unaffordable. I wish you could have a team member for less cost than a full user. Currently a team member is the same cost as a full admin.
