Overall I am thoroughly happy with the Zinc Synapse platform. It suits my needs perfectly and the Zinc team is always on hand to provide customer support should it be needed. Zinc Synapse is the most important tool I use and provides the solid foundation for my intelligence collection and reporting.

Pros

I really like Zinc Synapses' all-in-one utility. It provides me with relevant threat intelligence, provides the sources for me to investigate further and assess, and then provides me with a comprehensive, easy to use dissemination tool to send out intelligence reports to clients and operational management instantly. The Location Tracking feature is great and helps narrow down relevant threats by proximity, saving you time from endless scrolling.

Cons

The only gripe I may have is a user interface issue - While going through lists on the incoming Threat Intelligence tab, once I navigate to a specific threat and then navigate back to the list, it will take me right back to the first page and not the page I was currently on. This may take away some time trying to find my original place, especially if the list updates in that time and fresh threats are loaded.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us. We truly value your insights into your experience with our Threat Intelligence Module. We understand the frustration of being redirected to the first page of the list when navigating back to the list after viewing a specific threat. Your observation about the potential time wasted in finding your original place, especially with the possibility of list updates, has been noted. This change is within our new released platform that we are planning to migrate you on to imminently. Enhancing the user experience and efficiency of our platform is always a priority for us, and your input helps guide our development efforts.

The Zinc team are a blend of technical, data and risk professionals, this is a USP in my view as they truly understand our requirements, the types of users and what the output of the system needs to deliver. From an account management perspective, the team is hands-on, progressive in their thinking and always available to support not only our contract but external initiatives that support the overall ROI of the system. Overall, the user-friendly interface, real-time communication features, and adaptability make SYNAPSE an indispensable critical event management tool for our organisation, digitising our processes and supporting our striving to enhance our overall resilience and response capabilities.

Pros

SYNAPSE offers an easy-to-use solution to our incident and communication requirements. The platform has successfully been through rigorous and continuous infosec testing due to it operating in a First Responder and Security environment. The platform has enabled multiple organisations and stakeholder groups to be segregated for targeted and secure communication. One of the standout features our users appreciate is the platform's ability to centralise incident data. This consolidation allows for quick and efficient access to critical information, ensuring that responders can make informed decisions promptly. Another noteworthy aspect users often find valuable is the real-time communication capabilities of the incident management platform. The platform facilitates seamless collaboration among stakeholders, enabling instant sharing of updates and important notifications.

Cons

The previous mobile app did not have on and offline connectivity, however with the release of the new mobile app this issue has been mitigated, as the new mobile app has this functionality, plus a variety of other new features such as geotracking, voice to text, background media upload and a new UX which our users find easy to navigate.

The initial set up of Synapse included 500+ store locations with thousands of colleagues being afforded access to create incidents of a security and Health + Safety nature. The solution sits on every till and back office pc. The likelyhood of a 'failure' of the solution occurring NOT related to Zinc is high. This could be user error or IT issues within our own organisation however on each occasion the Zinc support team are able to triage the potential issue with us and see through to completion. The Zinc team genuinely take interest in us as a business not just another customer.

Pros

Zinc incident reporting is a really easy platform to use. For us the solution is designed to allow LP + H+S incidents to be captured. The alerting functionality supports us totally particularly with critical incidents such as Riddor which are shared across the business in a timely and efficient manner. The Zinc team is very supportive and the use of the service desk portal really effective in helping you track issues

Cons

The admin portal is complex requiring a high level of training and competency for users to understand how to manage issues on a daily basis. We have over 5000 users within the system. Its imperative 'user profiles' are set up correctly to avoid frustration where users often within the same store have differing experiences. If I could change one aspect from the initial project launch it would be to revisit our user profiles, reducing them in number, to afford consistency across our business.

The admin console is under development following the recent launch the 'new' version of SYNAPSE last year. This version has incorporated our clients feedback and both the front-end UX and back-end admin console have had the UX enhanced meaning we can mobilise is less that 4 weeks and all areas of the platform are configurable (on a continuous basis)

The overall experience has been seamless from the start of the project planning to the system going live. The Zinc team were, and still are, on hand throughout the process to make sure we are getting the full benefit out of the system. No problem is an issue, and the support team treat all questions or problems with a 1st class service. The training of the system was carried out by a project manager who knows the system and is always available to answer any questions, no matter what the question is. The passion the Zinc team have about the product radiates in their service and friendly approach. The system gives us a Core platform to manage our events, incidents and Risk Management, keeping the whole Operational and Management team informed.

Pros

When looking for a reporting product, Synapse came out on top. With a vast library of event types and workflows, we were able to work with the Synapse team to create and customize our own workflows to capture all the relevant information we require to approve or deal with an event/Incident. These workflows down to the questions can be restricted to region, venue or access level, and the whole process can make the reporting of events and incidents flow seamlessly. The way the system can create automatic notifications saves time in sending emails, the comment section also keeps an event specific audit trail, with the ability to see all events under one platform makes it easier to analyse and approve an event and deal with any security concerns raised keeping everyone informed. Their ability to integrate with most systems makes us able to bring other systems we use into one system for reporting purposes. The support team from Zinc have been first class and work to resolve any problems as quickly as possible keeping us updated of the process. Synapse is a truly an industry changing platform for all operational and security event and incident reporting.

Cons

To configure the system can be confusing and if you haven't got a slight knowledge of how to configure software it can be a little daunting, but the support team are always on hand to help out and correct any issues.
