has been easy to use, has great customer service, and offers a great value that fits within my organization's budget.

Pros

We have a relatively basic version of , and it's an absolutely great value for our needs. The customer service is excellent and is the primary reason I would recommend this software to others; I always know that help is just an email or a phone call away.

Cons

The only thing that comes to mind is that the user interface in the basic version we use is visually a bit dated, but this has no impact on functionality.

I helped catalog an entire library using old barcodes, new barcodes and everything in between. The ease of learning the program was so helpful as I trained others to help.

Pros

is very user friendly and intuitive. Any time I have had a problem they have helped me fix it. They go above and beyond to get it right. Cataloging is easy and labeling is easy.

Cons

I only have one complaint...You can't make 13 digit barcodes...or I can't figure out how...I really don't have any other complaints.

As for the 13-digit barcodes, I suspect that's because 13-digit barcodes are typically a type of barcode called 'codabar' that may be different from the type you're currently using. ### "Surpass Software Met Our Needs Cost Effectively"

Our experience with Software has been very positive. We have had no problems. The learning curve was not high. Volunteers mastered the software quickly.

Pros

Software was a perfect match for our organization to automate our 5000 book library. Our organization is run by volunteers. The process to enter the collection into Surpass was straightforward and easy to learn. The support staff was excellent and available as we learned the system. We have moved from only in building use of our library to publishing our database on the web, with our members able to search the database from any place on the internet. We highly recommend the Surpass software.

Cons

We have had no problems implementing the software with the help of the support staff. The database being in the cloud made implementation quicker and more reliable.

### "Surpass support is the Best!"

is a LMS that was easy to learn to use when I began 14 years ago. Surpass' support team has always been there to help me with any problem or question.

Pros

The quick, friendly customer support team is the best thing about Surpass. Questions are answered through their Chat within a few minutes each time. Or, if I would rather call, they are always available. Surpass is constantly using customer feedback to improve their product.

Cons

It is hard for me to think of what I like least about . When there is a situation that could be improved, I can suggest a change.

customer service and sales representatives have been extremely responsive and helpful. They clearly understand their complex software and are more than willing to resolve any issue that arises. They have a litany of YouTube videos that cover many of their features of their software, they are usually only about 3 minutes each making them easy to watch

Pros

catalog is easy to use and is as good as far more expensive library systems.

Cons

It does not show you one copy of a multivolume set but shows the user all copies as separate entries. I would like to see this changed to show the user only one book but with a list of all the volumes.

Our PK-8 private elementary school library used the non-cloud based system for 15-20 years. When we decided to move to a cloud based platform, we looked at two other vendors before deciding that Surpass was by far the best option.

Pros

I have used for the past fifteen months. Surpass is user friendly, intuitive, and easy to navigate. I have taught over thirty school volunteers to use this system with ease. I appreciate the prompt customer service when needed, either by phone or chat box. I can usually speak with a support person within five minutes.

Cons

At this point, there is nothing that I like least about .

CL is perfect for our small to medium church library. The price is reasonable and customer service is responsive and helpful.

Pros

\-It's very flexible - you can add as little or as much detail as you like. -There are multiple ways to enter bibliographic information. -I'm impressed that we can choose to search multiple library catalogs to do copy cataloging.

\-Label printing is imperfect. -Using the Add New by ISBN feature can be a bit slow.

Top-notch customer service! I’m always amazed at all quickly they adjust or correct any issues that I bring to them.

Pros

I think I appreciate most about Cloud is how easy it is for my volunteers and students to sit down and be able to navigate the system with very little, if any, training at all. It is the most user-driven system I’ve ever used.

Cons

The only feature that could be improved is the patron import. We have had a bit of difficulty with students who are in a grade that is not designated within their categories. This means hand keying in few of them after the upload.

benefits are their excellent service Surpass they offer. No matter what question I have, they answer quickly, or see if something in the cloud can be changed to help my unique problem. I am a librarian at a non-profit national center for fiber art. We have a shop, classes, auditorium for guild gatherings, media room for producing online classes for our patrons, a library, a gift shop, three galleries for fiber art work, and a permanent Weaver's Guild group that has been in existence for over 75 years. Textile Center library has over 35,000 circulating materials. We have received \[SENSITIVE CONTENT\]'s Weaving Loom Library Research project. She passed away, but entrusted Textile Center with her 18 giant notebooks and hundreds of bits of information about weaving looms. We are in the process of making this into .pdf files so we can add those to our library for anyone in the world who is interested in finding information about Weaving Looms will have access to that information. I am not with an industry, so I picked Apparel and Fashion, but that is not what we are. Maybe add non-profit as a choice under "industry".

Pros

It is getting easier to use, but I can always call or chat and get great help when I don't understand something. I really love the service. That is vital to an organization. When I don't understand, or wonder about how something works, I know I can chat with a real person at . They will always be helpful, professional, kind, and funny. Julie and I have quilting in common. Hope her quilt retreat was fun.

Cons

I often need to print items, but there is "no printer" access, so I have to copy and paste to word to print what I need.

Many were for larger libraries, or too expensive, or non-responsive when I inquired.

### "Small libraries beware"

Being able to inventory quickly and easily is important for volunteers. Having an attractive and easy to use online catalog is also very important. allows this at an attractive price, unless you have over 10,000 items. Then you are stuck, unable to add more or export to another system.

Pros

The OPAC interface is attractive. I especially like the ability to add an image of a book cover so easily. Being able to email over dues is very nice.

Cons

I like least the capping at 10,000 items when it was unlimited before. This is a real hardship for small church libraries that spent so much time and effort at comprehensive cataloging and now are told they can not export their own records! The next tier allows export and a huge increase of capacity, but the price is too high for most small churches to pay. The donor report function was removed with this version, and has been promised to be returned, but I have been waiting at least a year already. Copycat allowed more varied choices when cataloging, although this new version is probably easier for a non-librarian to catalog. I have so many rare and uncommon items that I end up doing the complete cataloging myself.

Your circumstances in migrating from Surpass CL for Windows to Surpass Cloud Congregational is a bit unusual in that your library has such a large collection and is near the limits of the lower-cost Congregational plan. Surpass Cloud Congregational is our entry level plan, designed and priced to meet the needs of most congregational libraries. I can understand how you were disappointed that you needed to upgrade to a full-featured Surpass Cloud plan to accommodate expansion of your collection, but I hope you will enjoy the other added features and benefits. Overall, I am very happy with . It's flexible and allows our school to enter the data into the system the way that works best for us.

Pros

The system is super easy to work with and learn. I'm not savvy with computers but the Surpass system is easy to navigate. Whenever I do need a helping hand, the support team is available to help. No waiting around for a call back or being put on hold. And the support team is super kind and easy to talk to. They understand what I am trying to ask, sometimes even when I don't. If there is a feature that would be nice to have, they are always making changes to fit the needs of the users. They truly do listen.

Cons

The hardest part to for me, is updating all the new students at the beginning of the school year. I wish it were easier. But the support team is always there to help me figure out any mistakes I've made and get it my information merged into the system.

### "Customer service is key!"

My experience with has been very positive.

Pros

We began using the Cloud-based about a year ago. It's works well for our mid-size (15,000 book) library. Once I became familiar with its capabilities, I enjoyed its speed and accuracy. We've had a few glitches and a bit of a learning curve on my part, but Surpass customer support has been knowledgeable and supportive in getting through each issue. They are professional, quick to respond, and they definitely know their stuff. My favorite feature is the ability to customize our own site for our school with text and photos. I also like the ability to communicate with our students' families via email through Surpass. The Dashboard feature is also a great way to start the day with a synopsis of the library.

Cons

Showing my age here but -- I wish there was a hard copy user's manual of Cloud's capabilities. I used the manual/binder all the time for the previous version, making notes on annual processes, etc. I really miss that old binder!

It was in place when I arrived. I have not considered changing.

I still have a copy of the first one from 1985 (it was called Melvil back then)! As you have probably noticed, there are enhancements and new features added to Surpass Cloud constantly. Paper manuals couldn't keep up with the pace! And, of course, paper manuals couldn't take you directly to the page relevant to where you are in the software with a click of the mouse, as the online documentation does.

So far since we have gone to the cloud based version, they are improving performance when we ask for changes. Most requests are met in a fairly short period of time. Tech support is very helpful.

Lots of reports available for circulation, materials and patrons available. Like the option of being able to create customized reports

Cons

Wish we could print patron info and resource lists like the previous version. Being able to make changes across multiple resources at one time would be more helpful. The cloud based version runs slowly a lot of the time. Reaction time when scanning in many items can be slow. We have to be very careful checking in multiple items because it takes a little while for each one to show up on the log.

I've used it for 4 years now and it's still a great system for our little library in a retirement community. It's fairly easy to teach the helpers the basics. I keep my own manual I've written as I learn new things in so I can quickly refer back to a 'hoe to' on anything I need to do

I enjoy because it is user friendly. The product seems to be well thought out, and is simple to use. Because of this, my first year being a librarian was an easy transition. My absolute favorite part is customer service. They are always friendly, helpful and available.

Cons

I wish that my small school could afford the cloud option with the newest features. Run a special so we can get on board with the times!
