Owner Retail Used the software for: 2+ years ### "GOOD sync is my favorite backup software!" October 30, 2019 5.0 The great benefit to this backup software to others that I have tried is the level of customization. I have my main personal files in a separate location and those are the most important to have backed up in multiple locations. As for the operating system files, I have used my personal file back up more often, as if I have a problem with a computer, I do a fresh install of the Operating system (NOT from backup), and I have my personal files already backed up separately to install on the new install. Pros First, GOODSYNC actually copies files faster than windows explorer. I use the program to automatically backup various files to multiple backup hard drives, including cloud drives. I have multiple jobs running, so I can back up certain sets of files to one drive, and others to another drive, all VERY customizable. I have separate storage folders that back up separately, and I also have jobs that backup entire hard drives -- but only files that have changed, so it doesn't have to start from scratch each time. These jobs run automatically, set by the built in scheduler. I also like the option for the program to send an email after each backup, confirming the back up, and alerting me if there are any errors. Cons Infrequently, there are errors that I can't understand. (The error reporting may be a bit more complex for my needs.). However, I don't see that as a limit to the software, but a limit for me as a non-expert user. Either way, I can see the file that wasn't copied and can filter and/or fix the program so it can be copied, or by-passed if necessary. Usually this happens with temp files that I don't actually need backed up. (There is also a filter to keep from copying these, but I haven't used it. That would probably solve my problem before I would have one.) Review Source PB Paul B. There are indeed dozens of options to sift through, but all in all, I find the experience to be fully worth it. The company has answered my feature questions promptly. Pros Full-featured for what it is. Comprehensive list of replication options. I'm using it to replicate data from a production Windows server to another Windows server on the same LAN (near-line storage). Automatically uses VSS to great effect, effortlessly copying locked files. All changes/deletions are synced with seconds to minutes (rarely when there are very large files, over 1 GB), which is totally acceptable to me. It was easy enough for me to install, and I scheduled a session to fine-tune it with a support rep, which went very well indeed. I now get regular emails about errors, the vast majority of which can be disregarded, but I do want to see these anyway (files existing for just a short time that were not synced etc.). Cons There is no lower renewal cost, far as I can tell - you pay full price at each renewal. Some others have complained about support, but I've had no issues getting a response when needed, which has been seldom. Review Source Jason M. Pros It integrates well with all my NAS devices, Using the "goodsync explorer" program I am able to see all my backup locations including my Google Drive and BackBlaze B2 storage. And the price just can't be beat for what this program is capable of. My fav features are: Integration with all my cloud storage that's simple and easy. Integration with all my NAS devices Synology and WD. Precise control of when and what gets backed up. Ability to detect file changes on MY NAS, MY PC and my cloud service so everything is backed up nearly instantly. The GoodSync Explorer feature makes it easy to see the files on any of my devices or RDP into them if need be. I have recommended this to others and everyone that has taken my advice is very pleased with this program as well. Cons The only negative I have is that it does not run as a standalone program on the NAS, but since I use a dedicated PC as my backup controller that hasn't really been a hindrance. As well, for the files I do keep in public cloud storage, I can back them up. Long time user and big fan. Pros I feel safe syncing files with GoodSync because of the smart algorythms for comparing files. As well there are fail-safes built in (optional) that will backup files that are deleted. I have never needed them but it is good to know they are there. The software comes in handy all the time. It integrates with your cloud accounts to back them up and via their GoodSync Connect I can easily sync files over the Internet. I have used it for years and it has provided an easy solution to many types of problems. Cons The server version of GoodSync is high priced. Review Source AM Art M. Pros Easy to set up and use and have used it for years. Cons Every time there is a pending update to the program all scheduled jobs stop running. Consequently I can go days before I remember to check, update and scheduled updates start working again. This has been going on for 6 years and tech support is worthless. Other backup software I use does not have this problem. Therefore sometimes I forgot to back up my important data or files. GoodSync is one of the software which helps me to continue my work very smoothly. Synchronizing and backup are very imported for my job because I deal with a lot of project-related documents and these documents are the most important part to increase the businesses of my shipbuilding company. Pros GoodSync has a user-friendly interface and it is very easy to used to file synchronizing and backup. Also, there are many tool end to end encryptions, real-time data transfer, block-level data transfer, and version history control besides synchronizing. It only synchronizing the latest files only and avoid data corruption during data transfer. Cons Sever license price is very high when compared with other licensing options. Tech support cannot resolve the issue. Pros GoodSync is easy to use and it did the job. Cons I upgraded my SSD on my computer and this was the only application to stop functioning upon completing the task. It just wouldn't run. Tech support kept telling me to try again but it never resolved the problem. I asked for a supervisor to contact me by phone so we could step thru the process of what was happening but they wouldn't do do that. I can no longer run the program I paid for. Reason for choosing GoodSync 1st product I came across howver, now that it doesn't run I found FREE FILE SYNC and it runs almost identical to GoodSync and it's free and just as fast. March 12, 2018 5.0 GoodSync 10 is a reliable application that can help you back up your important data automatically and on regular basis without much effort. Support for batch processing ensures that this application can handle multiple sync jobs together. Pros The UI of the application is simple and clean, and one can easily get used to it with little time and effort. The application offers to create two different types of backup jobs to suit the needs of the users. Backup job only modifies files in the output directory, and includes hidden and system files by default. Synchronization job changes the files on both sides, so any changes made to any of the folders is synced to the other one. This option excludes system files by default. You can sync files and folders from remote computers using FTP or SFTP. You can also sync folders and files located on GoodSync Connect, Windows Shares, WebDAV, Amazon S3, Google Drive, Windows Azure, Amazon Cloud Drive, SkyDrive or WinMobile ,OneDrive Office 365 and Box.com, BackBlaze B2. The application makes use of end-to-end AES with 256-bit key encryption to ensure safer backups. Using P2P method for backup increases backup speeds by many times making even bigger backups very quick. Cons P2P method for backup should increase the speeds significantly, however, this isn't the case here. It is actually slower than many other similar applications. " July 3, 2019 4.0 Backup small KB sized data files to other disk and S3 bucket of AWS. Pros The software is Easy of Implementation and very Robust. Cons Becomes slow when scanning file list at S3 bucket (has 1million files) when syncing from local to s3 bucket. It scans full list every time that takes 2 hours even when the bucket is used to just put file to s3 with no writes from other source. VR Verified Reviewer Used the software for: 6-12 months ### "This program is a Godsend!" March 10, 2018 5.0 Pros This program is a godsend. I have a MyCloud, a personal cloud storage device. I wanted to back it up to Dropbox, so that I had my items saved in two places for protection, especially as the MyCloud is kept running all the time. No other program allowed me to backup to Dropbox from a networked drive. It's fast, it's easy. It does what it says it does. Setting things up could not be easier, and it's so nice to be able to pick and choose what folders to save, so you can wait on longer uploads for another time if you just want to do an emergency backup. 10 stars! Cons Sometimes it can be a little buggy and try to overwrite items that aren't new. So you have to go and select "Same name, diff time" or whatever that option is, and mark to not upload those. It would be nice if it could automatically check and not upload things that haven't changed, that way you don't have to stop a sync in progress to go back and skip things. It might even be possible, honestly, I just haven't found the right combination of settings to make that work yet. :) Review Source MH Menrad H. The overview in the dashboard is very good. The view on the status is very important to me. Automated synchronization is a big help for us. Cons It is a pity that I can not search / filter the individual devices in the dashboard. It would be great if you could group the individual devices.
