### "GOOD sync is my favorite backup software!"

October 30, 2019

5.0

The great benefit to this backup software to others that I have tried is the level of customization. I have my main personal files in a separate location and those are the most important to have backed up in multiple locations. As for the operating system files, I have used my personal file back up more often, as if I have a problem with a computer, I do a fresh install of the Operating system (NOT from backup), and I have my personal files already backed up separately to install on the new install.

Pros

First, GOODSYNC actually copies files faster than windows explorer. I use the program to automatically backup various files to multiple backup hard drives, including cloud drives. I have multiple jobs running, so I can back up certain sets of files to one drive, and others to another drive, all VERY customizable. I have separate storage folders that back up separately, and I also have jobs that backup entire hard drives -- but only files that have changed, so it doesn't have to start from scratch each time. These jobs run automatically, set by the built in scheduler. I also like the option for the program to send an email after each backup, confirming the back up, and alerting me if there are any errors.

Cons

Infrequently, there are errors that I can't understand. (The error reporting may be a bit more complex for my needs.). However, I don't see that as a limit to the software, but a limit for me as a non-expert user. Either way, I can see the file that wasn't copied and can filter and/or fix the program so it can be copied, or by-passed if necessary. Usually this happens with temp files that I don't actually need backed up. (There is also a filter to keep from copying these, but I haven't used it. That would probably solve my problem before I would have one.)

### "Excellent Product - working well for me for near-line server replication"

January 14, 2025

5.0

The product seems to just work. There are indeed dozens of options to sift through, but all in all, I find the experience to be fully worth it. The company has answered my feature questions promptly.

Pros

Full-featured for what it is. Comprehensive list of replication options. I'm using it to replicate data from a production Windows server to another Windows server on the same LAN (near-line storage). Automatically uses VSS to great effect, effortlessly copying locked files. All changes/deletions are synced with seconds to minutes (rarely when there are very large files, over 1 GB), which is totally acceptable to me. It was easy enough for me to install, and I scheduled a session to fine-tune it with a support rep, which went very well indeed. I now get regular emails about errors, the vast majority of which can be disregarded, but I do want to see these anyway (files existing for just a short time that were not synced etc.).

Cons

There is no lower renewal cost, far as I can tell - you pay full price at each renewal. Some others have complained about support, but I've had no issues getting a response when needed, which has been seldom.

### "Awful. Complete waste of money."

August 23, 2017

1.0

I developed great experience with debugging and anger management. It inspired me to scout the market for other solutions, and it encouraged me to learn rsync as a substitute.

Pros

It's easy to delete. That's about the best thing I can say: it can be removed by simply dropping it in the trash.

Cons

I have used GoodSync on and off for several years. Here's my typical experience: \* I install the latest version of GoodSync. \* I encounter various intermittent errors. \* I delete GoodSync and use another solution. Why do I keep going back? Because I paid for it, and I cling to the hope that they will eventually make it \*minimally\* effective. No dice. It remains as much garbage as it was when I purchased it. Examples: \* Locks up while attempting to sync to a folder. Just becomes totally unresponsive. The process needs to be killed, and often the machine rebooted, to recover from the lockup. \* "Undefined Error: 0." Constantly. This is GoodSync's version of "An error occurred." Don't bother emailing GoodSync customer support - they don't know and won't help you. \* Sync jobs just fail, spontaneously, mid-sync. The sync is running perfectly, the volumes are both still available... and it abruptly stops. \* The network browser is overdesigned and overcomplicated. All you want do is to specify a URL, a username, and a password. Sometimes it accepts the settings. Sometimes it just retains the old settings, and barfs out random error messages. I give up. They are never going to make this software to minimal usability. I have scoured all of my computer systems of this bloated trashware. Don't make the same mistake I did. Don't waste your time, and don't give this developer money. You will regret every dime and every moment you spend on this garbage.

### "I run all my backups for all my devices using GoodSync"

April 1, 2021

5.0

My over all experience is excellent and I would highly recommend this product.

Pros

It integrates well with all my NAS devices, Using the "goodsync explorer" program I am able to see all my backup locations including my Google Drive and BackBlaze B2 storage. And the price just can't be beat for what this program is capable of. My fav features are: Integration with all my cloud storage that's simple and easy. Integration with all my NAS devices Synology and WD. Precise control of when and what gets backed up. Ability to detect file changes on MY NAS, MY PC and my cloud service so everything is backed up nearly instantly. The GoodSync Explorer feature makes it easy to see the files on any of my devices or RDP into them if need be. I have recommended this to others and everyone that has taken my advice is very pleased with this program as well.

Cons

The only negative I have is that it does not run as a standalone program on the NAS, but since I use a dedicated PC as my backup controller that hasn't really been a hindrance.

### "Very intelligent and feature rich syncing tool"

June 21, 2019

5.0

Syncing files is huge these days and GoodSync has provided me a solution to sync files without storing files in public cloud storage. As well, for the files I do keep in public cloud storage, I can back them up. Long time user and big fan.

Pros

I feel safe syncing files with GoodSync because of the smart algorythms for comparing files. As well there are fail-safes built in (optional) that will backup files that are deleted. I have never needed them but it is good to know they are there. The software comes in handy all the time. It integrates with your cloud accounts to back them up and via their GoodSync Connect I can easily sync files over the Internet. I have used it for years and it has provided an easy solution to many types of problems.

Cons

The server version of GoodSync is high priced.

### "Worst tech support ever."

June 9, 2020

3.0

Will not renew my subscription because of totally inept tech support.

Pros

Easy to set up and use and have used it for years.

Cons

Every time there is a pending update to the program all scheduled jobs stop running. Consequently I can go days before I remember to check, update and scheduled updates start working again. This has been going on for 6 years and tech support is worthless. Other backup software I use does not have this problem.

### "Best data synchronising tool for busy world"

September 13, 2019

4.0

As an electrical engineer, I am very busy during work and after my works hours. Therefore sometimes I forgot to back up my important data or files. GoodSync is one of the software which helps me to continue my work very smoothly. Synchronizing and backup are very imported for my job because I deal with a lot of project-related documents and these documents are the most important part to increase the businesses of my shipbuilding company.

Pros

GoodSync has a user-friendly interface and it is very easy to used to file synchronizing and backup. Also, there are many tool end to end encryptions, real-time data transfer, block-level data transfer, and version history control besides synchronizing. It only synchronizing the latest files only and avoid data corruption during data transfer.

Cons

Sever license price is very high when compared with other licensing options. Sometimes for some types of file synchronizing speed is low.

### "Easy to work with"

June 19, 2018

5.0

Pros

It's very simple and doesn't need lots of training, needs just the minimum computer knowledge, you just simply choose the left folder as the main Sync folder and then choose the right side where you want them backed up / Synced

Cons

They already have the Google drive and some other famous clouds in the Sync option but I wish they could add some more Cloud providers Like Zoolz etc...

### "Ok product, but conservative product development and annoying customer service"

December 9, 2024

They try to put you in their ticket system and then provide you with standard answers sending you off.

Pros

Easy to use, although it can take long time to go through the full list of files on your system.

Cons

Arrogant customer support. Providing "putt-off" answers to get rid of your Q's. Not listening to suggestions for improvement and treating you like you are a no-no.

### "A Great backup and Sync software that replaces a DAS"

October 14, 2019

5.0

Pros

Flawless, manual or Automatic (Scheduled or on change) Synchronisation; it can replace a Direct attached storage with RAID 1 configuration; it also displays a summary of the changes from the source to the destination with plenty of criteria like propagate deletions at destination, or choose to leave any deleted file at destination, or even keep the deleted files for a certain period of time in case they are needed again; can be scheduled to automatically synchronise source with destination upon file change or new file addition; multiple Synchronisation or backup jobs can be created;

Cons

it is not easy to arrange the jobs in the required order

### "A product that does what it says - most of the time"

June 17, 2019

5.0

We do rely on the product as an alternative to One Drive, which we found to be completely unreliable. GoodSync is far more reliable, documents the work it is doing really well, and provides mechanisms to overcome issues more robustly.

Pros

The interface is great - comprehensive, giving you the details of what's going on Performance is great - doing live syncs happens quickly and does not degrade performance noticeably

Cons

Integration with One Drive is not reliable. At times the connection breaks and the syncing stops. The Central Management of clients also does not work when using a One Drive as a target for syncing.

### "It's What The Name Says: Good! "

February 13, 2017

5.0

This software caters to a small niche, and it caters to it well! (Or, "good."). I have yet to find a backup/syncing software that is both powerful and easy. Honestly, I have yet to find many that work  period! While Goodsync is a paid option, it's ridiculously affordable as far as software goes. I highly recommend!

Pros

Cheap. Highly affordable. Customizable (e.g. Create routines, specific sync jobs, etc...) Updated CONSTANTLY. (I don't even say this exaggeratively: I think this software receives more frequent updates than any I know. Which is reassuring with software that you're trusting with daily automated tasks  especially ones likely involving the backup of your life's data.)

Cons

While I think the UI is pretty outstanding relative to the challenge it's trying to solve, it can still be daunting at times. When you're reviewing the sync analysis for thousands upon thousands of files, it seems like there might be a slightly better way to display things to the user to inform them of important notices, etc...

### "GoodSync has been working very well for me for several years. "

January 10, 2018

5.0

Automated backups and consolidated cloud storage software.

Pros

I've been using GoodSync for all kinds of automated local and cloud backups for several years. Any issues I've run into have been minor and when I've contacted customer support they're usually very good about getting back to me with fixes and update me regularly. It's very versatile and reliable software that is pretty easy to set up.

Cons

When updating to new versions automatically, the software sometimes fails and you need to re-install the update manually. Not a huge deal but kind of annoying that it still happens from time to time.

### "It used to be good"

September 19, 2018

2.0

It used to be good, but then one day just decided not to work. I contacted support and got an immediate response informing me that they do not support the older version. I updated to the latest version. Unfortunately, that version has never worked. It crashes every time. (it also crashed on my other devices, so it's not a problem with my computer). I contacted support again and they asked for a log file which I provided ..... That was the last I ever heard from them. I used their "Goodsync Support System" online to provide my log file on the 4th, enquire the progress on the 7th, ask how long I need to wait for a response on the 12th and now, on the 19th, inform them that I've had to purchase an alternative program. (which, incidently, has been excellent ... but I can't name it here as you would think I'm only writing this to promote it)

Pros

I liked that I used to be able to sync my computers so that I had the up to date 'picture' when I travelled.

Cons

Not very user friendly. Very time consuming to setup. Often took multiple attempts to sync files.

### "The product works very well and it does what it is advertised."

January 17, 2018

5.0

Pros

\-no manual intervention required, once set up -sync over the internet works flawlessly -GoodSync customer service is great and very responsive. I was able to work out a fair price for a particular situation, specific to my case - easy to set up Overall this is a great product and I am very satisfied with both the product as well as customer service.

Cons

There are only two versions available to purchase Pro (desktop) Enterprise (anything that has a server OS as an end point) There would be useful to have a Pro version that can be used on a server OS with a specific number of connections/licenses (my case) Some of the options in the GUI are not as explained as maybe they should be

April 20, 2018

4.0

Pros

I like that I can use Dropbox to sync all my laptops and then I use GoodSync to sync specific drives back to my company OneDrive.

Cons

Response from Siber Systems

April 24, 2018

Hi Julie - thank you for taking the time to review GoodSync. Regarding OneDrive, it was originally offered as a beta feature for an upcoming version. Subsequently, once GoodSync 10 was released, upgrades were required in order to maintain this feature. With that being said, we certainly understand the need to stick to a budget and we're happy to offer discounted upgrades when possible. Please do not hesitate to contact us regarding pricing should a future upgrade arise.

November 1, 2017

I was able to keep user directories synced while we moved systems from an old server to a new one so downtime was minimized.

Pros

Peer-to-peer synchronizing large server directories with enough advanced options to allow me to get the maximum throughput.

Cons

Extremely large directories take a long time to analyze. Directories that had a large volume of rapid changes overloaded the server when when syncing was set to Auto: File Change (adding a delay helped)

Cons

Could be a bit faster on folders with loads of files, but that is to be expected, we are talking a directory tree structure with thousands of folders and million files.
