### "Save time and money and learn as you go!"

August 3, 2025

5.0

My overall experience has been great. Limitations were due to a misunderstanding on my part of what Replit should and should not be used for. The agent is great at talking through solutions and bouncing ideas off of. I love that it comes up with color themes because I don't like that stuff. It provides you with something to 'react to' that you can then work with the agent to refine.

Pros

It's fairly easy to get started. With what I'm doing between Replit and AWS, it would easily cost me thousands upon thousands to pay professional devs to build my app for me. For most people that are probably building something simple this is an amazing tool.

Cons

It's over-confident sometimes, like in migrating to AWS. It doesn't 'remember' it's a dev environment. There's no warning that you're approaching context window limitations. There's a temptation to stick with an agent for additional build out of a feature rather than opening up a new chat. This is really like nitpicky stuff though. The human user still has to have an understanding of how Replit is doing what it's doing. A little learning goes a long way.

Alternatives considered

Reason for choosing Replit

I had zero desire to run a container environment on my computer as a dev environment while working with Replit and gitpod to both keep a repository updated. So I changed my mind on things architecturally and chose replit for the front end (for the most part) and AWS for everything else.

### "Turning Ideas into Apps with Speed and Simplicity"

August 20, 2025

5.0

can now quickly turn my thoughts and ideas into working apps. I'm constantly evaluating processes and systems, both at work and in everyday life, to come up with automated web apps that streamline tasks and solve real problems. It's changed the way I approach problem-solving.

Pros

Replit makes it incredibly easy to turn ideas into MVPs—fast. I’ve always had lots of app ideas, but building them used to feel either too expensive to outsource or too complex to do on my own. Replit has completely changed that. It’s opened up a world of exciting possibilities and made development accessible in a way I didn’t think was possible.

Cons

The monthly token model can be confusing at times. I’ve found myself going over my allotted tokens because the Agent will often auto-build solutions when I’m just looking for feedback or suggestions on how to approach a development problem. It would be helpful if there were a way to clarify intent more easily to avoid unnecessary token usage.

### "Financial Trap for Developers: Beware of Runaway AI Billing Loops"

July 14, 2026

2.0

Review Body: I am writing this to warn fellow creators, developers, and small business owners about the predatory, un-capped billing practices at Replit. Within less than 48 hours, I was hit with hundreds of dollars in automated, surprise overcharges—including a $112 bill right on the heels of a $250 payment I made just the day before. Replit’s system is designed to trap you. If their AI agent gets stuck in a coding error loop, it autonomously burns through compute tokens and runs up a massive bill by the minute behind the scenes. Instead of pausing your workspace or requiring explicit approval when your credits run out, Replit automatically switches your account to an un-capped "pay-as-you-go" metered model. To make matters worse, their interface holds your hard work hostage. When you try to leave, they steer you toward a slow compliance "Account Export" tool that takes up to 7 days to process—forcing you to keep your card on file while the meter continues to run. You have to manually hunt for hidden workspace menus just to bypass their queue and download a standard ZIP file of your own code. Their customer support heavily relies on rigid "no refund" policies for AI utility compute, ignoring systemic platform glitches that trigger these spikes. If you value your budget and peace of mind, host your projects elsewhere. Avoid Replit unless you want your bank account bled dry by an autonomous AI loop.

Pros

Replit offers an incredibly accessible cloud-based workspace that makes it very quick and easy to spin up an environment, write code, and collaborate in real-time. The interface is intuitive for beginners, and having an integrated AI assistant directly inside the editor helps speed up initial prototyping and basic software troubleshooting.

Cons

The billing system is predatory and un-capped. If the AI agent gets stuck in a coding error loop, it autonomously burns through compute tokens and runs up massive surprise bills by the minute. Instead of pausing your workspace, it automatically switches you to an un-capped metered model without clear warning or explicit re-approval.

### "Awesome for building apps ( especially prototypes)"

It's perfect to build apps for beginners. Its quite easy to use. Students get discount for unlimited features. Its a great platform

### "Fantastic with a caveat"

July 28, 2025

4.0

Very good overall if you take into account the flaws inherent in AI. Does a good job if you explicitly say what you want most of the time. Just have to be explicit and verbose with instructions.

Pros

It allows someone with technical experience to make a working prototype without writing any code. It's very fast.

Cons

It's too eager to implement solutions with a low success rate. If I ask it a question, often it implements a bogus solution that I didn't ask for. Also, their customer service is all AI as far as I can tell, so if you have a real issue, good luck with that

### "My experience with Replit AI has been extremely frustrating and damaging to my business"

March 5, 2026

1.0

My experience with Replit AI has been extremely frustrating and damaging to my business. What initially seemed like a promising development platform quickly turned into an expensive and unreliable service. The pricing model feels misleading because the AI often requires multiple repeated prompts just to complete simple tasks, and every prompt counts toward usage. This can quickly drive up costs and lead to a very high bill for work that should be simple. Recently, my app was suddenly taken down with no warning or clear explanation, which immediately disrupted my business operations. Shortly after that, I started receiving thousands of emails in my Gmail inbox within minutes, completely overwhelming my email and making it difficult to communicate with clients for several days. Customer support has been almost non-existent. I reached out multiple times but received slow and vague responses that did not resolve the issue. Meanwhile, the platform still appears to be attempting to charge my account for activity connected to these problems. After transferring my business to this platform, the result has been downtime, billing confusion, and a lack of real support. I plan to report the issue and share my experience so other business owners are aware before relying on this platform. Let us start a class action lawsuit on this business. Report this to your governor office as well and the business bureau

Pros

The illusion that it was my solution for my business to stop wasting money on freelancers. I switch from Wix to Replit. Boy this is becoming a regret

Cons

Over charging my accounts Scam Receiving 1000 email spam from the A.I running up my bill. How horrible the customer service is and was. (Trash) Took down all my business sites for 3 day still not up and then trying to charge my account.

### "I Wish They'd Invested in Support"

August 19, 2025

2.0

TL;DR: Replit underindexed on creating a robust support infrastructure, to the detriment of its users and its lone support rep. First, I was excited to use it and impressed with the initial output. Then I needed some customization, at which point I fell into the absolute hellhole of Replit AI support. It took way, way too long to get the agent to understand what I wanted to build, all while burning through credits (and I was collaborating with other people and multiple LLMs to see if I could engineer the prompts better, but no matter what, it was completely confused). Finally, I gave up and went to support, which was also AI. While very personable and seemingly competent, it told me conflicting information about what I could and could not do on the website I was building. This was also over multiple days, and again, causing me to burn through credits. Then I escalated to a human, which took the human 8 days to respond to, at which point they said they were very overwhelmed. They did apologize and issue a refund, which I really appreciated. I abandoned it for Squarespace. Which is sad, because trust me, I would have loved for Replit to work - but it just wasn't there yet for what I needed.

Pros

\- beautiful, efficient and accurate design - easy to use (at first) - great idea until you need customization

Cons

\- absolute hellhole of AI enablement and support, all which burn up your credits and force you to either abandon the project or upgrade.

### "From Zero to App in No Time—Just Code"

August 13, 2025

5.0

I enjoy using Replit, especially when I need to get a frontend up and running quickly. I also really appreciate it when dealing with bugs. Sometimes, after an app is finished or halfway done, I share it with others as users so they can try it out. This way, they can use my application without me having to worry about reverse proxies, ports, Docker, or other deployment complexities.

Pros

I don’t need to prepare much for the initial setup when creating an application. Everything can be done through prompts alone, eliminating the usual time-consuming tasks that add no real value. Even fixing problems or bugs that arise later can be handled quickly in the same streamlined way.

Cons

Every month, I nearly reach—or completely use up—the quota provided. The good part is that I’m making full use of it, but it also means it can run out.

### "My favorite vibe coding tool"

July 16, 2025

5.0

Created several solutions of which I use one on a daily basis. I am not a programmer, still I can create solutions. Of course it will help that I am an IT manager and therefore are kind of tech savvy.

Pros

The best I tested so far (also tested Cursor, Loveable and Base44). It's easy, almost always create solutions for ideas and errors. Great user interface.

Cons

You have to pay for Replit, but I also had to five an OpenAI API key when I asked some heavier tasks to fulfill (rating and translating). So I pay twice, but for now it's worth it.

Alternatives considered

[BASE44](https://www.capterra.com/p/10030696/BASE44/)

Reason for choosing Replit

Base44 didn't create the solution I intended to make, he didn't fix the problems/errors I showed him, though I tried for hours and even after a complete new attempt in a new project. Replit did it without any problem. I also tried Lovable, but that's not in the list I can choose from.

### "Really poor product and customer support"

August 20, 2025

1.0

Awful and really poor customer support. They were unresponsive and never resolved my issue. I gave up and had to leave all my work behind.

Pros

Initially I liked the ease of the interface. It was intuitive and it was creating some good results, so I continued

Cons

When I had invested hours (and run out of credits). I didn't care about the cost, it was the work. It deleted all of my work and could not recover it. The irony is that it cost me every attempt it made to recover my work. But was not successful.

### "Ideal Platform for Rapid MVP Prototyping & Feature Development"

August 7, 2025

5.0

My overall experience with Replit has been excellent. It provides a streamlined and efficient development environment that removes many of the blockers associated with traditional setups. It's especially helpful for testing out ideas, running scripts, and collaborating with others in real time. The ecosystem is growing, and the Replit community and templates make getting started even faster.

Pros

Replit is incredibly easy to use and perfect for prototyping MVPs or building quick, functional systems without needing a full team. Its collaborative features and always-ready cloud environment mean you can deploy and test code instantly. You don’t need to worry about infrastructure, and updates or new feature implementations can be done rapidly. It significantly speeds up the development process and is ideal for both solo developers and teams.

Cons

So far, I’ve had a really smooth experience using Replit. I haven’t encountered any major issues that would impact my workflow or satisfaction. The platform has exceeded expectations for the use cases I rely on it for. Maybe in the future, more advanced configuration options for production-grade projects would be helpful, but as of now, everything works well.

### "Replit is my favorite tool"

July 17, 2025

5.0

I've been a fan of Replit since I first heard about it on a podcast. I've basically learned everything I know about coding with Python, software development, the AI stack, and everything that goes along with putting together a modern web application. Having everything right there and easily deployable is a huge plus. Being able to access it from anywhere is also a huge plus. You haven't lived until you've made a few code changes and re-deployed your app on your phone while walking the dog!

Pros

Replit has become my happy place, I tell everyone about it. It's intuitive, fun to use, and POWERFUL. Whether using the Agent or just taking advantage of the cloud based, one-click IDE or easy deployments, it's become my favorite web tool of the past few years. Being able to spin up a prototype for an idea, no matter how big or small, is amazing.

Cons

There's not a lot I don't like about Replit. The new effort-based pricing is opaque and unpredictable, which isn't great. But at the same time, the Agent is super powerful, and of all the Agentic AI coding assistants I've used, Replit's is by far the best at setting everything up. It's tight integration with the IDE is second to none, and I feel like it gives Claude Code a run for its money when setting up a new project.

### "Replit unlocks business value that had previously closed off"

September 9, 2025

5.0

Genuinely, this is a game changer for me. Ideas that I've had for years, that have sat dormant because I didn't have the developer skills, can finally be realized.

Pros

The ability to use my prompting skills to generate value quickly for my business, without having to be a developer myself. This has been huge, and I've already created four apps. They've also added so many new features over the last few months, it's nice to see the continued development of the platform!

Cons

It can be challenging when there's some broken functionality, and the AI can't work through it. I've learned how to prompt through it, and sometimes it ends up costing more because I have to switch to the higher powered model to get through a problem.

### "Recommended app, easy to use, does its job, some details to take into account"

August 18, 2025

4.0

My general experience has been great, I believe I have not even begun to discover Replit´s real capabilities. Integrations and pricing adjustments would make the app perfect, alonsgside gen AI natural evolution to be able to shorten interactions to get a publishable web or app.

Pros

I´ve built my first end to end functional website with replit app. It really enables you to code with very little coding knowledge. I like it´s interactions and its intuitivity, it´s straightfoward and easy to use. The fact it can host, autoscale and even buy and set domains is great, it really solves everything for you.

Cons

It requires a lot of interactions and bugfixing, the general output is good but not great, it needs a lot of texting and debugging to get a publishable app. I´ve also encountered a lot of problems around integrations (eg with github), with I think could be easier to implement. Finally , the recent pricing change has come to a surprise since it radically changes the rules of engagement and I ended up paying x2 my fixed amount a given month.

### "Great experience "

August 18, 2025

4.0

Extremely positive, like the style and integration of the entire experience. Overall a great experience and can be massively improved with more structured specification of requirements and some type of formal acceptance tests.

Pros

The full integration of IDE, Agent and query with a friendly informative UI. The terrifying speed with which one can achieve a working prototype is fantastic.

Cons

It isn’t (yet?) .NET focussed, my preferred tech stack. I also think it somehow needs to have more structure to the mechanism for specification. Just “plain English” isn’t enough. I would like to be able to specify acceptance tests in some way.

### "Replit : The best platform for development + deployment"

August 28, 2025

5.0

I think I have been pretty satisfied with Replicate. I have been their one-year user and recently subscribed for their second year as well.

Pros

I have been using replit for more than a year, and I really love most of their features, especially their agent is pretty powerful and their deployment is such an ease. Being a no-coder deployment, I was always worried and Replit is so smooth, I just build and just deploy.

Cons

I think it's one thing which I have challenged with that for every project you have a database, but I want to have my shared database. Like, if I do the first project and the second project, I just want to have a common database between both. I think that is something which I would need from it. Sometimes I consume their agent credits pretty fast, so maybe they can be more generous as a 1-year subscriber. 😉

### "Replit - I found my calling because of you"

July 30, 2025

5.0

In general, I love it, my life is greater with Replit in it. I am able to finally take action on my ideas and make them come to life.

Pros

I love the simplicity of giving it a task and within minutes having a template, a base, or in some cases a fully flushed out product. The amount of hours I have saved on projects for ideas I have had for years is truly untold. The ease of use is quite simple. You do need some tech background knowledge when it comes to launching, reviewing, security, and principles , but you can also just wing it for a MVP.

Cons

Some times I will chat to the agent to fix something, it will go through steps, say it's fixed and then I go check and it's not fixed. Other times it will take it upon itself to make more changes than I have asked. This isn't always happening, but it has happened where I have had to revert back and make sure to tell it not to change anything else.

### "Replit works well - take your time, start simple"

August 18, 2025

4.0

I haven't built anything huge in it, but I have built multiple apps that have been really useful for me and I have also used it extensively to code out deep dive content pieces

Pros

I find it easy to use and very intuitive to use. I like the interface, and its amazingly quick. It provides recommendations without just rolling them into the apps i'm building, and I have found its great if you start small and iterate in logical, medium sized steps

Cons

I think a bit more clarity on the choices for deployment and what it entails would be great, in terms of how much server space you need etc. There have been a few times where I dug too deep or got greedy and it has broken some apps, but the rollback feature seems to work well in these cases

### "Worth every penny. Works like 5 people!"

August 17, 2025

4.0

Very positive. It's a great tool to do mass coding work to save loads of time. It can really help you just focues on architecture, monetization, security and value for money of your software.

Pros

It's very low-level entry in terms of technical knowledg. I can see that even a non-technical person can code up an app and deploy it with a database and everything integrated in Replit. I'm a more advanced engineer, but the UI is very easy and intuitive for all knowledge levels.

Cons

I think there is quite a lot more work to be added to the Agent's memory. The agent oftentimes iterates over itself with something it just changed, and codes the same thing that was causing the issue in the first place. The Replit team should find a way to make the agent somehow remember exactly what it tried before, and take different approaches each new iteration of debugging.

### "Understanding and Using Replit Correctly for Beginners"

August 28, 2025

4.0

I also think Replit's ability to build apps and websites on your own, even without coding, is a positive choice. However, given its support for over 50 different languages and environments, I believe it would be even more appealing to a wider audience if it had an academy or beginner's guidebook, offering step-by-step instructions for beginners to learn Replit's various skills, including how to use it for the first time, how to use it, and collaboration. Examples of collaboration, how to use Ghostwriter, an AI coding assistant, and step-by-step instructions for beginners on how to create and launch a Replit are all necessary.

Pros

Replit's greatest strength is its ease of access. It's browser-based, requiring no separate installation, making it easy to get started. For coding beginners like me, the biggest advantage lies in its ability to automatically generate code and create apps and websites through basic documentation or conversations with AI.

Cons

The most difficult or challenging aspect of using Replit is that one of its key features is collaboration. Unfortunately, as an individual and a non-English-speaking user in Asia, I haven't had the opportunity to collaborate with anyone. The biggest disappointment was the inability to learn from and collaborate with others through real-time chat, code sharing, and real-time multi-user editing.

It’s a good product that could be made great if fixes to the environment and UI design would make it great.

Pros

Ease of us. Quick to learn. Responsive support. Amazing product. Speed of development and ability to deploy something new extremely quickly.

Cons

Agent can sometimes struggle with complex concepts. It's all about providing sufficient detail in the prompt so that it doesn't guess.

Replit is good to get a demo up and running quickly but need a lot work to get an app to beta mode for user testing.

Pros

Speed and ease to deploy an application. Very easy to publish and deploy. I like the initially creation process. Very easy to get front end up.

Cons

Not having the ability to have dev, staging, and prod environment setup. Replit makes it difficult to use multiple databases. The agent will ignore database settings. The agent will also say a task is completed and when run the app, nothing was done. Very costly.

### "Wonderful for SME businesses! But make sure you scope out what you want before using! "

Good, but I’ll be happier when/if I can deploy out of creation stage, lots of time wasted helping the system debug itself

Pros

I didn’t learn coding, but in using Replit I could finally craft the framework for a proprietary system for my company based on all the elements I believe we need and potential others.

Cons

Replit on app creation isn’t great at debugging, it takes far too long to debug and it seems like it only builds on command to your direction, ideally the system should be better at debugging and it shouldn’t need as much interaction to do so, Another disadvantage albeit a positive too! Is that I find it hard to stop and deploy to test, with the endless capabilities you tend to run into rabbit holes of possibilities resulting in losing site of the core purpose of the project, Replit agents could do better and ask more clarifying questions during the development of the systems
