It may not replace the IDE and AI tools like GitHub Copilot for developers working on large scale products Pros The Replit Agent is the star of the show, it efficiently converts your project ideas into code with the help of real-time AI suggestions. All the queries regarding the code can be solved by the Replit Assistant. It helps us understand the errors and seamlessly work on any changes made mid way through the progress. Being able to communicate in English to a machine that then codes software is insanely powerful. I'm excited as A.I advances to see what people can create as the barriers to entry become lower. Pros I have built two apps from scratch, without any coding knowledge. I love that I can ask the AI to leave annotations in all of the files so I am learning how things work organically and practically. Cons The base model A.I of replit (an older version of Claude?) can be frustratingly stupid at times, breaking code that already works when something else changes. The enhanced thinking and more powerful model (Claude opus 4) performs much better; albeit roughly $1 per prompt (pretty expensive). September 14, 2025 5.0 Overall experience with Replit has been great, I am even able to understand the tenets of software development by building with Replit. Pros I think it is the most intuitive, and user friendly vibe coding platform in my opinion. It is also full stack in the sense that it takes care of UI, auth, backend and even hosting all in the same platform. I think it helps non-tech people a lot who can be overwhelmed while building software. Cons I think the agent sometimes keeps repeating the same error which you have to course correct but it also eats away al your credits - this is a bit disappointing. Review Source DT Diane T. Cons The costs of using the agent is expensive and often times the agent makes mistakes that you then have to use more credits to try and fix that issue. At the same time, it's not quite there. It's a 7 out of 10 at best in my opinion. Pros This is a good tool that lets me get back to programming with quite ease. Most of the code that it generates in the first pass is also quite good. Cons It still has some way to go. Sometimes it gets caught up in the loop, and the error programming and debugging are not up to the mark. Even after repeated attempts, it is not able to fix issues and it gets caught up in a loop of sorts. I want it to be a little bit more smarter, maybe use more up-to-date LLM models. I wish there was some better integration with third party AI because I use Gemini mostly and have a subscription there for higher rate limits. Pros I liked that I can just...make something. It's so easy to roll stuff out and trial it live. It really cuts through all the boring stuff. Cons I want it to replace junior developers by writing code that works for things I tell it to. Not replace junior developers by pushing garbage code to production and deleting databases by accident. Interface is straightforward. Pros Easy to get started, user friendly interface. I liked how I could choose between using GPT-4 and Sonnet for different tasks. Cons There is no way to turn off automatic commits at each checkpoint. I would also like more models to choose from and support for GPT-5 Thinking, as well as support for building and deploying native mobile apps (eg. React Native). I'm at the 3rd application already and don't regret a penny. I made 2 web apps and one windows app with installer. Cons It's easy to use and user friendly. Hands down the easiest way to code new sites and apps for someone with limited coding experience! Pros It has enabled me to build the apps that I've been thinking about for years - in a fraction of the time - and iterate without the delays and costs of working with a full developer. Cons It was a bit intimidating at first, but the tutorial videos helped a lot. You do need to have some kind of exposure to coding though (not quite "no code" coding, but they're improving). September 2, 2025 4.0 In general, I think that it is a good choice for the money they ask. I would like to have more credits for that money but overall experience is good. Pros It helps to prototype the Web app faster than it usually takes when working with designers and then trying to implement the functionality and layout according to the sketches. In a day I can achieve the same result as I get after 40 hours of manual work. Cons The service does not work well with custom backend. I tried to add some logic related to WebSockets, authorization (not cloud based) and it took much time to implement and required several times of reworking. I couldn't be happier with my replit website Cons I'm not a fan of how it takes a lot of "screenshots" and charges me based on that. They did change this to better reflect what the actual AI is doing so we will see. Would not use it for large scale projects but good for generating web pages or other low intensity requests. Pros Does basic tasks well like making html codes for web pages, writing database codes for access and retreival of data etc. Cons Is not good at fixing something without disrupting some other function. It could be better. With a very detailed description of your ideas, the experience is much better. The agent seems to understand what you want once a solid background is provided. Teacher Education Management Used the software for: 1-2 years ### "Online IDE for Remote Learning" July 6, 2021 4.0 Overall, Repl.it is an excellent web-based IDE for both personal and educational uses. It has its limitations but its solutions greatly outweigh its shortcomings. Pros As a computer science teacher, it is a struggle to find an IDE that will work for all my students. My students have school-issued Chrome devices so installing software is not an option. This is where Repl.it really shines. It is a feature-rich IDE that supports an impressive assortment of languages. The best part is it is completely web-based. My students were able to do their assignments remotely without having to install an IDE. Cons The Python options are not inclusive. You have to select if a project will be graphic-based or text-based. When creating my classes I had to choose one or the other and not all assignments were compatible.
