I can't use the software for templates. The big selling point was that I would be able to create presentations and courses from templates, but there is absolutely nothing close to that in the software. All the templates are 1 page with lots of drawings. I'm not sure how that would help in a presentation. Pros The price was good for a lifetime deal. Cons It is advertised that one can have a lot of templates, but in reality, only about 2 or 3 templates appear. They advertised that this would help create courses; however, there are no templates (ZERO) for courses. The same can be done with Canvas (Canvas is free). Our Standard plan includes just shy of 100 templates (and growing) and hundreds of icons and shapes you can use in presentations, diagrams, content, etc. If you'll give our support team the opportunity to assist you, we can figure out why you are not seeing all 100 templates in your SketchWow software. They bring regular updates, and each one makes the product massively better to use. The choice of GFX elements also grows at a great rate. Note: I purchased the Pro version, which I think ships with more GFX resources than the standard one, which justifies the price difference alone. Pros Part of my job is to create new process workflows, or to analyze existing ones and improve them. Most customers find it boring to tell them what they are doing 'wrong' in their own workflows, but by using the beautiful graphics resources provided by SketchWOW, I have yet to see someone unhappy. They all appear much more interested and engaged while we discuss the issues and plans, and very often I get asked how I created these drawings. SketchWOW simply transforms the way I talk about boring stuff! Cons SketchWOW drawing boards sizes are pixel-based, and font sizes are relative (meaning, if I draw a shape and type some 24px text inside, then increase the shape dimensions, font size will increase proportionally). When I create workflow diagrams, I can't always get the component shapes and sizes right from the get go — but when I then shuffle them around and resize them, I have to then go back and change my font sizes everywhere to keep them consistent across components. Also, sometimes when a drawing becomes more complex, PDF exports open snd redraw very slowly when viewed in Adobe Reader. Review Source Stef G. October 28, 2023 5.0 Starting a new role as an information systems architect in my organization, I quickly found that the tools for diagramming were hard to learn, you're always fighting to align arrows on icons and often the icons move when you change a little thing. What's more, the visual rendering is relatively boring to watch. I wasn't actively looking for a new product, but one day, a SketchWow ad appeared on Facebook and I went to check out the site. Well, at first I tried to find out whether it was web-based or not, but it's an application that you install on your PC. I had in mind to edit my schematics with a tablet and a pencil, but I realized that wasn't going to be the case. I wrote to support and was told it would come for tablet support... So I said to myself, there's hope! I evaluated the price and found that the risk of a trial was not very high, and on top of that, you can get a refund. In the end, I've had the product for about 1 year and I wouldn't do without it. Cons This isn't so much a con or dislike - more of a feature request. We would love to be able to export in an editable version (separate assets or layers). Many of our visuals end up being added to slide decks, but aren't editable. This would be incredibly helpful as many of our process visuals are iterative. As an advisor, I need to communicate concepts and frameworks to my clients. They are over the whole low-effort powerpoint thing, but are intimidated when diagrams are too nice. So the sketch aesthetic allows them to feel comfortable with new things while looking nice. It's hard to make something 'casually look good' and I can do it pretty quickly using SketchWow. Pros The functionality is pretty intuitive - vertical navigation on the left, typical controls for right click, select, all that. A pretty flat learning curve. But the best thing these folks keep doing is 1) adding more templates and 2) adding more to the library. I can import svgs, pngs, all that, which is great, but it's just easier when there's already an asset there that's already in line with the aesthetic. Plus, it's easy to stay in touch with them. \[sensitive content hidden\] sends out update emails and they're one of the only emails I read from my product subscriptions because there are always new goodies that come with them. These folks churn out updates to the software and libraries. It's awesome. Cons Is this an Affinity Designer? No, so there is some limited functionality because it's a basic tool that gets things done really quickly and well. Would it be dope to have more bells and whistles? Yes, of course. This tool helps me to create imagery on the fly, it contains many great ways to fine tune the images, is very easy to learn how to use and provides great support for multiple graphics formats and customizations as well as support for people who want to learn and generate their own ideas. The cost is SO great too. I am very grateful that this company has still maintained and expanded the product while doing everything they can to manage costs. I use images in my book, presentations, wiki entries and absolutely love the ability to design animated workflows!!! Cons Navigation between different element groups can be a little clumsy to work with. It's flexible enough to allow for more formal business-style layouts and outputs, but equally good at producing more casual and 'friendly' presentations too. It's also very good for laying out otherwise unstructured thoughts and ideas which some of the more rigid apps don't handle too well. But if you spend some time, you could get pretty good at basic mechanical drawing in a style that doesn't look run-of-the-mill Pros It does what it says: creates graphics that look like sketches, and it does that really easily and intuitively. The controls allow a good amount of creative control, and - in the style of way more expensive drawing products - bonded lines stick with shapes as those shapes are moved around. Cons I could not get my self out of "Present" mode, which assumed that I wanted to present on my screen 1 when I was using the program on screen 2. That seems like a trivial thing, but the help doesn't tell you how to get out of present mode. My first experience was that being in presentation mode tied up my main laptop screen, and nothing I did in my panic made things better or got me out. The help process took me to a web page, which would not have worked on a plane or when I was untethered. And that page didn't tell me how to escape either. I think the presentation problem might be a bug peculiar to using dual screens because, on retesting, when I first went into present, the escape key \*did\* terminate present mode. But after a but of page changing and screen hopping, escape no longer worked. Worse: when I dragged the main screen behind the presentation screen, I lost access to the main screen completely. So... couldn't get out of Sketchwow without crashing it. Oh, dear.How about "settings" so that the screen on which present mode works can be set?Bug report: I think I trapped it. If you go into present mode on a two-screen setup, then click Page 2 on the design screen, THEN click Present, the Presentation Screen changes to page 2. But after that Esc does not terminate Present mode. But further testing suggests it's simpler: if you click "present" a second time while in presentation mode, you can't exit present. I highly recommend it. Pros As a small business owner, SketchWow is one of my all-time favorite programs. It lets me quickly create professional-looking graphics for websites and presentations even though I'm don't have any artistic skills. It comes with numerous pre-drawn templates for a variety of situations. I've used them to create attractive infographics and PowerPoint presentations. I like the fact the tempates are easily customizable, and if you don't want to use an existing template, you can create your own design. The program comes with hundreds of pre-drawn icons such as shapes, arrows, speech bubbles, and much more. Cons The menu structure could be improved. It's a little difficult sometimes to locate things you want to use. But that said, I also have to note that I never bothered to look at the tutorials available. I have been green with envy but was beyond frustrated with other software and did not have the time to commit to extensive training. Anesthesiologist Hospital & Health Care Used the software for: Less than 6 months ### "Awesome" October 18, 2023 5.0 Pros It is crazy easy to use once you've grasped the basics (it has its own way of processing things, it takes a little experimenting at first but it's over pretty quickly) and it provides you with a huge number of possibilites in terms of icons, drawings, shapes etc.It also provides you with a lot of pre-made templates, which are particularly useful for people like me who are the opposite of creativity.I've been using it for my activities as a trainer/teacher, and although I didn't need to use exceedingly advanced features it certainly helped me a lot when needing to create schemes and flowcharts that were both easy to read and pleasant to the eye.Also, it costs so little I can't think of anyone who might not want to buy it AND updates are both constantly delivered and contain actually useful functions/items. Huge, huge work done by the creator, props to the team! Cons The only issue I have found to date, is it is not actually integrated with Powerpoint so if you want to put one or more elements on a slide you need to export the whole page as a picture, which is a bit of a bummer if you only want a few elements. Though it may just be me, I only use SketchWow every once in a while so I would not say I'm actually good at it.Other than that, I can't think of any real issue with it.
