### "Opus1 is a wonderful comprehensive software"

Overrall this platform give us a direct connection with our students and families that we did not have before. The students/families have overwhelming and consistently reported how much they love the new system. They can keep track of the calendar, invoices, and notes from the teacher all in one place. It's made invoicing, payments, scheduling easier and automatic which have saved a great deal of time and eased any duplications or double payments. We can also send out newsletters and run promotions straight from the site which has been a fantastic way to centralize our efforts.

Pros

The system was learning curve for sure, but after you get use to where everything is, what all the button means, and how it all fits in with your business structure but it's definitely been a breaze and worth the investment. We anticipated a 6 months to learn the system but most of the team got it in a month. They have live help that makes things easier in case you forget or something was missed as this software is quite comprehensive. Generally things are easy to find. The process to schedule, reschedule, and cancel lessons and let the parents also have access to that calendar has made things much easier.

Cons

Some things i favored least about Opus1.io are the deisgn on some things and the system does not quite fit what my business structure is. One the scheduling site i've received feedback from customers that it would be nice if the calendar showed you in a color or bigger words where you are on the page. The layout of the booking links arent fully customizable so there's often a lot of blank space where you see an image and the description of the service. Also, a lot of our contractors simply use their cellphone for use of the site but the mobile version of the site is limited to what you can do compared to the desktop version. We pay our contracctors here by a percentage so having to come up with the numbers for pay was tasking as the platform only supports hourly pay and a flat rate. If you use stripe they do not have a surchage option so having to add in the processing fees has been an adjustment for the company and our students.

### "The Music School Software for Optimization & Growth"

It was tough at first. Mainly because our original policies didn't operate like a business. Eventually we changed our policies to compliment the tech that Opus1 gave us, and things really shot up from there. It's helped us scale tremendously, giving us lots of time and mental headspace to stay creative and stay on top of tasks. Highly recommend!

Pros

I love how they focus on GROWTH. All their features help music studio owners stay organized with leads, reporting, tracking, and keeping processes efficient.

Cons

The design is boxy and a bit older. A good analogy is Microsoft vs Apple design. Opus1 is Microsoft. There's also little small things that are annoying that you would think would be easy to fix/customize, but we can't.

Overall I am very pleased for my switch to using Opus1 for our music studio. I love that I am able to be "open for business" even when our physical location is closed. 100% online registration and ease of customer portal usage. Smooth invoice transactions and reporting features as well.

Pros

How organized this software is to use as a whole. It's a bit tedious to set up BUT once it's all setup and running as it should be, it's fantastic! Very robust compared to it's competitors on the market for Music School CRM - organization, scheduling and invoicing customers.

Cons

Since the system is so robust on its automation that it does take a little learning curve to get used to adding or scheduling things just right to get it to work for your specific business model.

Opus1 is a USA based company so that makes paying my subscription easier. MMS is a Canadian company so there was a service charge associated from a different company. Also the overall ease of using the system in general for all of our studio scheduling needs and invoice processing was way smoother. So many invoicing issues with MMS using Stripe or PayPal in general.

Easy. Its a very intuitive interface, for the most part, and they keep adding features and improving it.

Pros

Its reliable. My previous service was error-ridden. Opus1 is fast, intuitive and reliable. The scheduling error rate dropped 500% the month I switched over.

Cons

The calendar interface. They have very slightly grey lines that demarcate the hours, and when a few teachers and full schedules, they cover over those markers easily, and I misread it constantly - telling someone that 4pm is open when its really 5pm. I really, really really wish they'd just fill in the even-numbered hours with grey, rather than relying on those thin lines that just don't work well for a busy schedule. Sure, I can be more diligent and double check everything, but that's needless time and effort than can be easily solved with a UI improvement.

It's good, and with better reporting could be much better. We want to know how many unique students are registered each week, even if they are absent. We have unlimited make up lessons, so those students with credits get missed or double-counted if they use their credit.

Pros

User experience is clean and professional, so it gives a good first impression to our music studio clients.

Cons

The reporting is messy. We often have to make manual head counts for our studio to get accurate enrollment numbers for our lessons, which are 90% group lessons, because the reporting is unclear. We would love clear, concise reports that are easily downloadable.

Pros

I really appreciate the ease of use with booking and changing recurring lessons for students. The daily spotlight makes it easy to check for new students and unpaid tuition.

Cons

It would be nice to change a recurring lesson from a different day and time on the individual lesson page. I really wish there was dark mode!

Opus1 has become the operational backbone of our organization. We use it daily for student management, scheduling, billing, communication, and reporting across multiple programs. While there is a learning curve—especially for administrators—the platform is clearly designed with arts education in mind and offers depth and flexibility that generic systems don’t. Once workflows are established, it significantly improves efficiency, and the team’s ongoing updates and responsiveness to feedback make it a strong long-term solution.

My experience with Opus1 has been excellent! Best platform for music lesson scheduling from both an admin and student perspective! It even allows you to set up and schedule recitals, including a recital program!

Pros

It's very easy to understand and use, and the team does a wonderful job supporting us! It helps us manage our school's music lessons across multiple students and hundreds of teachers very easily, and it has some great filter features that make reaching out to students and teachers a breeze! I also love the feature to add notes to profiles, which helps our large admin team to give great customer service and make the school feel small and personal to our students and parents!

Cons

There isn't really anything I don't like about Opus1. Compared to the previous scheduling system we were using, Opus1 was a breath of fresh air and allows us to streamline so many of our processes that used to take many different platforms to do.

My experience has been great! It made our job so much easier. I’m always impressed by how they continuously improve the platform. Also, the support team is fantastic!

Pros

Opus1.io has many functions that make managing student lessons so easy. Our company has tried a few other platforms, but we've been sticking with Opus for years now because it just works so well. The scheduling, self-booking/enrolling, waitlist, etc, all these features are super convenient and save us so much time. Also, every time they roll out a new function, I’m always surprised by their creativity, helping take a lot of the load off us with features that make managing everything a lot smoother, especially when proposal and self-booking functions came out. I can’t imagine going back to anything else!

Cons

It can get a little tricky to stay organized when managing a large number of students. As the number of studios and student lists grows, the interface can feel a bit overwhelming at times. That said, I know the team is constantly working to improve, and I’m hopeful that future updates will make handling multiple studios even easier.

I appreciate Opus1 and all that it offers for our school! The support team via the live chat is great, thank you for all that you do!

Pros

Scheduling, service, functionality for our boutique music school works well, it is pretty user friendly. I appreciate the live support chat, our team uses that a lot here!

Cons

We have had multiple feature requests put in place for months and have not received any update on them. For example, we need automatic credits to be issued to our students who who subscribed to our Flex Plans (1x60 min, 1x45, 2x60, and 2x45 min memberships). For these memberships we have to manually go in and individually issue credits when invoices process, this is a feature we highly need because the flex memberships are becoming unmanageable for the team here.

This has been a very positive experience. Your sales staff was not pushy in the least and made just the right amount of connections to keep them on our radar until we were ready to pull the trigger. The transition team was well informed and were very patient with all of our questions and the weird ways we had out business set up. Its been an absolute net positive on just about every aspect of our school.

Pros

Opus1 has been a game changer in the ease of scheduling our teachers and classes. We were running off an obscure combo of G suite, specialty spreadsheets, and our own brains and after we made the transition to Opus1 it has freed a ton of admin time.

Cons

I feel that the owner could control more aspects of the Opus 1 experience such as having easier ways to offer individual discounts, one-off lessons, etc. For example being able to put a lesson into the calendar backdated for record keeping purposes if someone makes a mistake and removes from calendar.

We only wish this system was available many years ago. We're incredibly happy to be using it now.

Pros

Extremely well thought out system built specifically for our industry. It really was built to tackle nearly all our pain points. We looked at all the rest and nobody else compares. The number one feature we love is the automated wait list. I have yet to see another system do this anywhere near as well. The ability for the customer to be able to log in and manage their schedule, cancel and schedule makeup lessons, has reduced the workload at our front desk immensely. Emails dropped by 95% immediately after implementing SMS. Responses to SMS are nearly immediate making scheduling tasks far more efficient. The ability for new students to self-book lessons on our website and the onboarding process for new students and tracking the progress of prospects is amazing! All this makes it easier for us to manage hundreds of weekly recurring lessons.

Cons

The nature of billing on the 1st of the month makes scheduling payments for rental instruments a bit tricky. Their solution to timing auto-payments on days other than the 1st of the month is a bit clunky.

Studio Auto Pilot had some nice features that were an improvement from Mindbody but it still didn't meet more than 80% of our needs. Opus1.io met over 95%. We used TeacherZone during the pandemic but ran it parallel to MindBody since I never fully trusted it.

Opus is a great product. I've been talking to the sales Guys and I know that updating reporting is a large priority for them right now. Once that gets Optimized it will be a 5/5 product I would highly recommend Opus for anyone changing there system. It helped us increase our monthly lesson revenue by over 10K

Pros

Automated Billing Subscriptions, Scheduler, CRM is helpful! Automated scheduling Rocks! Dependent Account Manager relationship is very helpful

Cons

Reporting could be improved to get metrics like: Overall Monthly Churn Customer Lifetime Value Tracking used Credits would be helpful Easily Finding my (Invoices minus Credits) each month would be fantastic! I wish the Lead Page was more customizable (Embedding Videos, Alternate Thank you Pages based on Criteria for User)

Using Opus has been a really great tooth for our studio as we had grown to almost 200 students. It makes it easy to manage and communicate.

Pros

Easy for families to use, coordination of lessons with communication between different staff. We link to it from our website to make it easier for families

Cons

Confusing to use on the instructor side at times, especially with inputting notes and sending to families. Would like more options for reporting as well.

Good! The support is there for me when I need it. Opus is the best scheduling platform I've used.

Pros

The "get live support" is amazing. I love that we can batch or singular email/text. I love that we can host so many teachers and students with intricate schedules. I love that we can see details and timestamps in the "prospects" on each account

Cons

The credits add up over time. Students can over over $200 of credits while we're still invoicing them. We have to manually apply each credit. The reporting is unclear - it's not clear how much revenue is coming in after discounts and credits

Overall, Opus1 has been a positive experience—it keeps our scheduling and inquiries organized in one place, helps our team stay on the same page, and makes handoffs and follow-ups much smoother.

Pros

What I like most is the team visibility and continuity: notes and status updates live in the system, so we don’t have to rely on one person’s memory and handoffs are much cleaner.

Cons

I would love a little more flexibility in the prospects/inquiry pipeline—especially an easy way to track contact attempts (call/text/email), a list for number of contacts, and timing automation between follow-ups attempts.

Opus1 is by far the best software system we've ever used and we've tried a few of them! I highly recommend it.

Pros

The automation is amazing! I also love that I can bulk email and text from the calendar view. Opus plus is great too!

Cons

All software systems have their quirks but Opus has the least of them by far. Some of the reporting is a little different that what I would like.

I am very happy with Opus1. It is the 4th calendar I've tried, and although it is 3 times as expensive, it is worth the additional money for the peace of mind knowing that payments go through easily and it is easy to see what is available for new clients.

Pros

Easy to read, automatic charges, instant customer support. Now I'm just filling it up to meet your minimum.

Cons

A pain to add blocked time. Again, annoyed that I have to say a lot to give you a review. this is it.

Pros

Opus1 is very easy to use! Our parents do not have issues navigating it. It is easy to see the schedule, create new appointments, etc.

Cons

There's not much I wish it was different; most of it is personal preference, but I really do wish there were an app!

Overall I’m so glad we decided to use Opus1 for our music school, as suggested by a friend who also uses it for his school. It’s pretty user friendly. Customer service is great, but not always super fast (sometimes I’ll have to wait several hours for a reply, but when they do get back they’re extremely courteous and helpful). Overall I would definitely recommend Opus1 to fellow music school owners, and I hope that they continue to make upgrades and improvements as needed.

Pros

Opus1 does the heavy lifting when it comes to scheduling, which makes my life much easier as an owner.

Cons

I wish there were more ways to do cancellations/credit issuance en masse instead of individually. Same with when I need to send refunds for an unexpected closure.

Pros

It transformed our music lesson business. It's built with the music studio business in mind and we love how it's constantly taking in feedback and actually taking steps to continually improve and add features. We've been using them for several years now and it literally gets better and better.

Cons

It's hard to find anything to dislike about Opus1. The only gripe is actually a testament to the quality of the program. Which is that it was once being mentioned as a competitive advantage to switch is not anymore because we're seeing studios down the street from us using it also.

It has changed my business. Without it, I would have to hire 5 more people. It's responsible for our ability to double in size in less than 2 years.

Pros

It's usefulness is unparalleled in my industry. I'm not sure that I can narrow it down to one thing. This web application is second to none.

Cons

The lack of customization in some ways. There are color schemes that can't be changed, and you can't store any commonly-used images anywhere.

It takes weeks to pick it up. But once you get there, you will be totally with it. Besides, it is updating a lot with the development of this business so you can always find the functions you are looking for.

Pros

Only for music school, and focus on everything music school needs. The calendar management, the flexible calculation of invoice, the holding function and the payroll functions.

Cons

A friend who runs successful music schools in Salt Lake City told me. By that time I was trying other software and she said it's gonna be opus 1.
