It is a fast and efficient way to create professional looking videos without the need for a full production setup. While there are some limitations with realism and customization the platform delivers strong results especially for marketing training and scalable content. All of these AI companies have so much control that you can't do anything about it if they just decide to wipe out your account, and no customer service whatsoever. I believe these AI companies are running out of storage space, and instead of telling you, they're just wiping out your accounts, and you really can't do anything about it. There are very frequent updates and new features (but it's not certain that this is a positive point if it's not well managed). Cons I’m a paying Hygen subscriber and have faced nothing but problems since day one. The platform is unstable, full of bugs, and every update seems to break something new. Latest issue: I spent three days creating an internal training video. After a simple text correction, the new version suddenly included constant keyboard typing sounds throughout the video. The entire project became unusable. The support is completely ineffective. I was passed from one agent to another with no real answers. One agent even told me he couldn’t find anything in their documentation—so I had to send him the link myself to Hygen’s own page explaining that transitions can include special effects like the “typewriter.” That option no longer exists in the interface, meaning it can’t be disabled. Then, out of the blue, without any communication or explanation, the number of translation minutes was reduced overnight. When I signed up for the annual subscription, I was promised “unlimited” minutes, which is why I chose this option. Suddenly, it's limited to 120 minutes per month. When you contact support, they just say they had to change it and are in no way willing to find a good solution. I'm really speechless—I've never experienced such poor treatment of customers anywhere else. Pros heygen's new ai studio is great for quickly making movies. i type a story, choose an avatar, and in minutes i have a video that looks like it was made by a pro. it's cool that i can change how my avatar moves to fit the mood with motion control. lots of voices and more than 100 characters let me make things for my small business that look real. it also works great for social media clips. It's full of bugs, updates aren't tested before deployed and wind up breaking things, the UI is hard to use, and elements are just generally laid out counterintuitively. Oh, and it locks your video file after submitting for animation, so you're f'd if there's an error that needs to be fixed. Idk if this particular issue is limited to HeyGen or afflicts the AI avatar market on the whole, but it's frickin' dumb and if it IS a market problem the first one to find their way around it will win my business and maybe even be able to charge a premium. Because the way at least HeyGen does it now is duuuuuummmb. Pros It's got AI avatars? Seriously though, I don't "like" anything about HeyGen. The best I can say is that I guess I dislike the login portal the least, but it's sadly true. The ONLY reason to come to HeyGen is for the AI avatars, and you can get those elsewhere. So although it may sound hyperbolic, it's true: the thing I "like" most about HeyGen is that if you're willing to suffer through the rest, you will--eventually--get an animated avatar video. Cons Honestly, it's usually terrible support for basic features that drives me to actually leave a review, but while the support team is seemingly never online and refuses to actually read tickets, that seems to be industry standard for silicon valley these days, so this time the most offensive problem is the content moderation, and not just the absurdly puritanical nature of their filter but how long it takes to get dealt with as well. Cons They give very few credits for my liking; they could improve that a bit. I know people who were allowed to create a free Avatar when they started, but in my case, they did not allow me to, I guess it is because of my profile. They could make this more democratic. It's a great tool that allowed me to make a project so realistic and so well created that the result simply blew me and my friends away. One of the things I liked the most is the fact of having several options to create a super realistic video, one in which it was just a matter of selecting the avatar and writing a text or uploading an audio. The interface is easy to use and this options are in plain sight and this makes it all very easy. Cons I would have liked that, even in the free trial, the option to create my own avatar had been enabled.
