We have been able to condense things into one platform with ease and the reports help things track for deliveries in the field. Cons When toggling back and forth between quotes and orders, it often reverts to another project and have to refilter to the one I was looking into. Sometimes I forget and then can't find what I am looking for. It's probably just a learning curve to remember to filter appropriately. One of the things that stands out is we asked if the program could split invoice between multiple projects when we first stared with them at the beginning of February. They told us that they were in the process of adding that feature. In a mere two months when we were live with the program they launched the split invoice feature. Pros Field Materials is easy to use and they work with my accounting software so it made it that much easier to transition. The customer support is top notch, they schedule the training so you have a direct contact until you are completely comfortable with the program. Cons The only con that I can think of is the email inbox. We were planning on having our vendors email the invoices to Field Materials directly but that wasn't working. I can cut a PO in half the time now using this product. The ability to keep track of job costs. Cons It is always difficult to integrate change, but the Field Materials training integration team is very helpful, and I was able to jump in and start using it after our first day of training. Now everything is centralized and visible in one place. We can track orders from the field, match them with invoices, and keep our team in sync. The traceability has been very helpful for staying on budget and keeping projects moving without delays. The user interface is really friendly and easy to navigate, which makes a huge difference for our team. What really stands out is the traceability this tool provides. We did a 90 day trial that went well so we chose to sign an enterprise agreement. Everyone involved in the trial has been impressed. Our Purchasing department loves it because it has made them more efficient by not having to use three platforms (SmartSheet, Outlook and Vista). Pros There are several things I like about Field Materials: 1. User Interface - it's clean and intuitive 2. Ability to separate material types on a field requisition to obtain pricing from different suppliers 3. Inventory tracking - this has been great for us. We've historically not tracked inventory and ended up with material shorts because material ordered for a particular job were used for another job. 4. Ability to see actual vs. budgeted costs on one screen. Our Operations people love this. 5. Communication between our field hands and suppliers. We had some damaged material that our receiving person noted. The supplier was notified right away and responded within the FM platform about the replacement material being shipped that same day. 6. Ability to assign roles and how many approvals are required before an order can be placed. 7. Tight integration with our ERP (Vista). 8. AI component that scans a photo of a packing slip and automatically marks the respective material being received Cons We thought material receipts pushed to Vista, but they do not. Field Materials makes AP super easy, and seeing our field upload delivery confirmations and pics right on the PO gives us peace of mind before paying—love it! Cons Nothing major—adding more columns to the PO would help, especially a length column since many of our items need it. This is in the works so it’s hardly an issue. Being able to easily access the quote, packing slips, photos, and invoices in one place saves time and keeps us consistent across all projects. Cons The thing that I like least about Field Materials is the learning curve required for the integration with Sage 100 Contractor. That being said, I am grateful that Field Materials does integrate with Sage 100 Contractor as so many companies do not even offer that as an option. Its made the process of ordering for the site manager hassle free and quick. Pros The AI integration that takes out the time to review prices and units etc in orders and invoices. The seamless integration with Procore and the way the lads could custom build some of our requests to suit our company work flow procedures. Nothing was a no and they tried and accomplished most requests. Cons There wasn't anything that I didn't like about the system. At the start when things weren't connecting and integrating with Procore etc it was frustrating but it all comes with the package when trying to implement new systems. Pros Field Materials is an effective tool that has allowed us to successfully organize and manage our job material and equipment repair/maintenance parts and service purchases. With the ability to create orders using AI and apply packing slips and receipts to those orders, it is much easier for the office to make sure the correct materials/parts are ordered, delivered, invoiced, and then paid. And best of all, it integrates with our accounting software, so no double entry into accounting. It is effective and easy to use. We are well pleased. Cons For the notification emails sent to vendors/subs, I would like to see the ability to send our own company branded emails or generated forms for purchase orders or subcontracts. Pros I really enjoy using Field Materials because it allows my team to be more efficient with ordering materials. As a Project Manager I enjoy being able to import material budgets and track against them as the job progresses. Cons How Field Materials is unable to separate items per specific project. Some team members learned differently to order materials and if we could accommodate that per project, it would help the whole division out. Field Materials became a core part of how we launched and operated our new drywall and self-perform division at Dempsey. It provided real structure to our procurement processes, kept our supplier communication organized, and helped us move quickly in a fast-paced project environment. The platform is easy for both field and office teams to use, and it noticeably improved efficiency and accountability. It is one of the few construction tech tools I would confidently recommend to any GC or specialty team looking to modernize material procurement. Pros Field Materials made it incredibly easy to streamline our purchasing and material management as we stood up a new self-perform Special Projects Group. The platform is clean, intuitive, and removes the usual back and forth that slows down procurement. I liked how simple it was to compare supplier pricing, track orders, and keep everything organized in one place. Their customer support was also exceptional, very responsive, very knowledgeable, and clearly invested in helping us optimize our workflow. It saved our team time, reduced errors, and improved communication with suppliers across multiple scopes. Cons Very little. The only small area for improvement would be adding a few more advanced reporting features, but even without that the system already performs extremely well and delivers consistent value. Working with Field Materials has been a breeze. My customer service rep is always available and emails me back that same day with any answer to my question. Pros What is there not to like! It is easy to use, interfaces with many accounting and construction software's. They are constantly updating the software. You don't have to wait for them to roll out an up date. As soon as they have something ready to update they do it. Cons I haven't found anything I don't like - if there is something that I need and feel it would help other companies I ask about if it is something they could implement and so far they have. If I have any hiccups with something I am working on, the staff is great about getting me a response/fix in a short amount of time. Pros I love how Field Materials made the accounts payable process of orders to delivery tickets much quicker and easier. Cons I really do not have any "cons" about field materials at this time. Most of the issues I ran into were user errors and my rep was great about helping me with those. The invoicing side of Field Materials has been awesome, and I have zero problems with it. The reason that it's not a 10/10 is that receipts have been slacking in updates like auto read transaction number, and transaction numbers don't check for duplicates in Field Materials. A refresh on the receipts side would bring my rating up to a 10. Pros 1\. Easy access to all Invoices and Receipts on a web-based platform. 2. The Field Materials app is easy to use to upload receipts. 3. Receipts and invoices in Field Materials are easy to approve and upload to foundations. 4. Uploading invoices and receipts to foundations is way faster instead of manual entry for each item. 5. \[sensitive content hidden\] has been awesome training and meeting with us weekly to increase our Field Materials knowledge and for us to be able to give him feedback to better improve Field Materials. 6. Quick bug fixes and updates. Cons 1\. Feature releases for new updates requested by my team or by other teams are not shown to us. We only see new updates if we end up coming across them in Field Materials. 2. Receipts seem to be slacking compared to Invoices for new updates. We have weekly meetings with him and he always takes our recommendations on board to help make Field Materials a better product. Over the course of using Field Materials we have seen vast improvements to the product with all updates being implemented in a timely fashion. Pros White-glove customer service Willingness to listen to customers complaints and recommendations and make improvements to the product where possible Improved efficiency for processing invoices and receipts Quick to fix bugs Friendly user interface One stop shop database for all invoicing needs Cons Updates regarding changes made to Field Materials that will help our company. I currently only receive this information in my weekly meetings but would be nice to be notified before this point in an update email.
