The overalll experience is very great because it brings in the unified experience for data engineering, data integration, transformation and reporting. The integration between the data lakes and power BI is a seamless, which reduced a significant development effort of our team.

Pros

What I like most is how easy it is to connect with our Salesforce orgs. The main purpose is to see how our member support agents are performing and track the SLA's so with the native connector on fabric, it is very easy to setup the connection and bring in all the data into fabric platform. With the data lakes and appending capabilities, now we are also looking at fabric as a data backup tool as well. And ofcourse, faster reporting and analytics by combining salesforce data with other enterprise data sources into a single environment.

Cons

There is still a learning curve, especially around understanding how different components like lakehouse, warehouse, pipelines interact with each other. Some of the features are still evolving and troubleshooting pipeline or data flow issues can be overwhelming sometimes compared to other stand alone tools.

My overall experience with Microsoft Fabric has been highly positive due to its unified approach to data integration, analytics, and business intelligence. It has streamlined data workflows, improved collaboration, and enhanced reporting efficiency through seamless integration with existing Microsoft tools. While there is a learning curve, its scalability and comprehensive capabilities make it a valuable enterprise analytics platform.

Pros

It provides a unified analytics ecosystem that integrates data engineering, data warehousing, business intelligence, and real-time analytics into a single platform. Its seamless integration with Microsoft Power BI makes reporting and visualization highly efficient, while OneLake simplifies centralized data management across teams. The platform’s user-friendly interface, scalability, and strong support for end-to-end data workflows significantly improve productivity, collaboration, and decision-making. Its ability to consolidate multiple data services reduces complexity and enhances operational efficiency for enterprise analytics.

Cons

The platform can have a steep learning curve for new users due to its extensive feature set and evolving ecosystem. Some advanced functionalities may still feel less mature compared to specialized standalone tools, and occasional performance limitations can arise with highly complex workloads. Pricing and licensing structures may also be challenging for some organizations to optimize, particularly for smaller teams or businesses with budget constraints. Additionally, ongoing feature updates can require continuous adaptation to maximize platform value.

Microsoft Fabric has been a game-changer for our integration projects. We've cut data pipeline builds from weeks to days using One Lake's unified storage—Power BI reports now refresh live across client environments. Copilot handles 80% of ad-hoc queries from PMs without dev support. Capacity limits hit during month-end though, and lake house SQL took our team 3 weeks to master. Solid platform overall, just plan your F-SKU sizing carefully upfront.

Pros

1\. One Lake unified storage eliminates data silos across Azure, Power BI, Synapse 2. Real-time analytics cut our ETL reporting from days to hours for client dashboards 3. Copilot AI integration accelerates insights for non-technical stakeholders 4. Seamless Power BI synergy enables instant semantic models and self-service BI

Cons

1\. Steep learning curve for lake house and advanced data engineering features 2. Capacity throttling during peak workloads impacts real-time performance 3. Many essential features remain in preview with occasional instability 4. Pricing unpredictable at enterprise scale - requires careful capacity planning

Switched from

[Azure Synapse Analytics](https://www.capterra.com/p/170434/SQL-Data-Warehouse/)

We switched to Microsoft Fabric to consolidate multiple tools into a single, unified platform. It offered better integration, simplified data management, and improved end-to-end analytics capabilities. The transition helped reduce complexity, enhance collaboration, and provide more efficient, real-time insights across teams.

I found it all encompassing as it unifies the data lifecycle. All the processes of data engineering, warehousing ,data science and business intelligence can be done on one platform.

Pros

I found it very interactive. It is a good tool for end to end data management. It simplifies the workflow by providing a single integrated platform.

Cons

We had to migrate from Azure Data Lake to Microsoft Fabric which was quite cumbersome at the beginning which only got better with time.

We needed to upgrade, Microsoft was making Microsoft Azure obsolete.

Great tool, for organization well structured and with financial strength to afford it. Valuable ecosystem enabling end to end data processing and innovative BI, in a collaborative way.

Pros

Wonderful all-in platform for safe data storage, real time analytics and business insights. Ecosystem well fit for data science and innovative organizations. Love the AI capabilities being introduced in the software!

Cons

Complexity about licensing, sometimes can get expensive if storing and computing relevant amount of data. Confusing regarding different options to store data in Fabric (Lakeview, warehouse, etc.) which would have been better to simplify upfront.
