The online visual of the takeoff allows the user to see the where and what of the takeoff. The Excel download allows for integration into the proposal. There are other tools continually added, even bid creation if your trade has a standard price/cost list. Cons Really, there aren’t any cons. You have to share information. The program is very user friendly. One of my favorite features is uploading updated plans/addendums to a plan we have already submitted. It does a great job at illustrating the changes that have been made. Pros We have 3 full time estimators and Beam AI helps us multitask. We have several projects to work on at a time, so while Beam AI is working on providing the takeoff and quantities, we are able to work on other projects. The program is very user friendly and is very helpful when addendums come in. Cons My biggest drawback to Beam AI is if we have a project that may take a long time to be in the review phase in the program, and with a short amount of time between the due date and when the invite to the project was sent, we have been unable to have the results back in time. The estimates I receive from Beam have a quicker turn-around than any other solution we've used so far. Not only is the estimation process more efficient now, but the takeoffs we receive are also incredibly accurate, which was a pleasant surprise given the quick turn-around. Pros Through my current use of Beam AI, I've found significant improvements in our workflow. The software is easy to use and most importantly, extremely effective for getting our estimates out in a timely manner. The customer support I've experienced with Beam and Attentive has been top notch. Cons I can honestly say I don't have any issues with Beam AI. I haven't encountered any serious bugs, and the very minor ones I have get fixed very quickly by the customer support team. I initially expected the cost to be one of the downsides, but in reality, its actually lowered our estimate creation costs. Team members that have been doing manual takeoffs in the past can now submit projects to Beam and have it working in the background so they can accomplish other things. Pros Very easy to use and put time back into my week. I historically have not been able to bid on projects due to time constraints, but since we've implemented Beam AI I've been able to bid on 3-4 projects each week. Cons Nothing comes to mind, the value greatly outweighs the cost of the software for our team. The only thing I will say is that user needs to allow for a 2-3 day turnaround on the takeoffs. That hasn't been an issue for us though, just something we now plan for. Pros I like not having to spend the time adding up quantities of block, grout, rebar, etc. Beam AI does all of that, and more if I ask. This time saved is spent on more accurate estimates, and more estimates completed. Cons It's not fully hands off, you still need a trained eye to give a quality review. Almost all of the time it is accurate but i think it needs double checked to be sure. This only takes less than 30 minutes, not hours. It’s one of the best tools I’ve used, and I’ve tried a lot of them." Pros "We’re doing 3 to 4x more bids than before. That alone makes Beam worth it." "It’s been an easy transition, and your team has been super responsive every step of the way." Cons If I had to pick, it would be releasing some of the control regarding takeoffs. It has saved us a great deal of time, and has allowed me to focus on following up on projects. Pros There thoroughness and quality of the takeoffs have saved us countless hours of estimating allowing our team to focus on other tasks. Cons It is a little difficult to navigate off the phone. It was easy to work with the team to get things set up and the takeoffs themselves are incredibly helpful compared to trying to figure things out on your own. The team loves it. Pros That it does everything for us. Very little effort is needed once you get the hang of options for prompts. Cons The price seemed a little high as we are a new business getting into the space so it was a big commitment. It also takes 3 days to get takeoffs back. Good customer service. Complete takeoffs to the parameters set by my companies capabilities and needs. Pros Just upload your documents. That's it! This opens up the door for things that may have been set aside - it gives you the time to catch up while you know that the takeoff is still being completed. Cons The reporting that is received - particularly the excel format does not group each item to a specific scope. For example, sanitary sewer items are mixed with water main and storm sewer which makes it a little difficult to follow. They are quick to respond and always very helpful. We have also verified that the takeoffs are accurate. Pros I like how user-friendly it is. I can upload a large set of drawings and have a full detailed and organized Excel in just a few days without even thinking about it. It saves so much time. Cons No negatives except that we wish we had had this as an option sooner. It would have saved us a ton of time!
