The bi-weekly calls is an extra step they take to make sure that we are receiving everything that we need. Pros Beam AI has been a real time-saver for our commercial painting takeoffs. I send over the plans and get back organized quantities, broken out by finish code, wall height and surface type, that drop easily into our estimating sheet. Freeing up that time lets me focus on reviewing scope, catching gaps and pricing the job instead of clicking walls for hours. The output is clean and easy to check against the drawings, and having a second set of eyes on large projects helps me bid more work without adding staff. Turnaround has been quick, and the team has been responsive when I’ve had questions or needed revisions. Cons The only con would be sometimes things get missed in the take off, but I've missed things myself. I have never had a big miss from Beam, so I would not be concerned. Review Source CF Cody F. Pros What I like most about BEAM AI is how much time it saves us on HVAC takeoffs and how much more efficient it makes our estimating process. It reduces the amount of manual work involved in reviewing plans and counting quantities, allowing us to focus more on pricing, accuracy, and getting bids out on time. Overall, BEAM AI has been a great addition to our workflow, and I’m very pleased with the software and the value it brings to our business. Cons There isn’t much I dislike about BEAM AI. Like any software, there is always room for continued improvement, but overall, my experience has been very positive. I’d like to see it continue to evolve with more features to make the HVAC estimating process faster and more accurate. Beam AI is one that we are going to keep using because it is extremely helpful, whether you use it and trust it to do a project on its own, or if you want to use it to catch items you may have missed on large projects and verify quantities. Pros The Customer Service and responsiveness to requested changes was phenomenal. I don't think there is anything we requested that they weren't able to do. They have broken out projects by unit type, differentiated millwork areas where so we can add/remove flooring if needed, and a whole host of other things. Cons It is a bit more challenging to do breakouts and make changes than doing a takeoff on your own. The program can do breakouts, but often times these areas change or need some fine tuning due to changes in plans. You can submit addendums for them to alter things, but once the bid is submitted and you're communicating with a GC, you really need to move quickly. Review Source MN Mike N. They keep making improvements all the time which continues to make the product even better. Cons Nothing significant, there is a learning curve in the begining but once you use it more frequently, it becomes much faster to use. As an estimator, managing takeoffs for every project while working under tight deadlines can be challenging and stressful. It is essential to thoroughly review every section of the plans to ensure nothing is overlooked when preparing proposals. Since implementing Beam AI at our company, we have been able to reduce the time spend on projects by nearly half. While there are still some bugs, questions and areas for improvement that we continue to work through with the Beam AI team, the overall experience has been very positive. I am every pleased with the impact Beam AI has had on our estimating process and look forward to seeing how the platform continues to improve. Pros It has reduced the time spent on projects in half. The service saves us time on the front end, and the team is professional and easy to work with. They are available throughout the week and have helped us deliver takeoffs within tight bid timelines. We would like to complete more bids through Beam AI and are open to making any adjustments needed to shape the takeoffs so they are more efficient for both bidding and field use. Pros The most valuable part of working with Beam AI has been the turnaround time / the speed at which takeoffs were delivered, which helped us keep pace with bid deadlines. The team was responsive to questions and receptive to feedback during the project. Deliverables were organized and easy to follow, and quantities for wall framing / floor and roof systems / sheathing / hardware were laid out in a way that made it straightforward for us to review, price, and build our estimate. Having an outside team handle the initial quantity work freed up our time for pricing, scope review, and bid strategy. Cons There were still some items missed and some incorrect quantities in the takeoffs. As we all know, plan sets at the early stage are often incomplete, which requires an estimator to think beyond what is shown and add the necessary material as an assumption to cover both the material and the cost. The Beam AI team produces good work on each project based on what is drawn, but it needs additional effort to look into the details from a real-world framing perspective, rather than relying only on the early-stage plan set. Building in typical framing conditions (such as blocking, backing, hardware, and connections not explicitly shown) would make the takeoffs much more complete and reduce the rework on our side. Cons The only thing that I don't like about Beam AI is that I don't have more quotes to submit to be done, so I feel like I under utilize the platform. Another small detail is I still am confused from time to time looking at my takeoffs to understand exactly what it is. Team members that have been doing manual takeoffs in the past can now submit projects to Beam and have it working in the background so they can accomplish other things. Pros Very easy to use and put time back into my week. I historically have not been able to bid on projects due to time constraints, but since we've implemented Beam AI I've been able to bid on 3-4 projects each week. Cons Nothing comes to mind, the value greatly outweighs the cost of the software for our team. The only thing I will say is that user needs to allow for a 2-3 day turnaround on the takeoffs. They are very responsive and care about your wants and needs. The take offs are very detailed, and they are willing to provide the takeoff in a customized format that is similar or identical to your template you use on a regular basis. They are always looking for criticism in order to perfect their product, so it fits your estimating needs. Cons While you do get your takeoffs in a timely manner, there are times when your takeoffs may be slightly delayed. The program is very user friendly. One of my favorite features is uploading updated plans/addendums to a plan we have already submitted. It does a great job at illustrating the changes that have been made. Pros We have 3 full time estimators and Beam AI helps us multitask. We have several projects to work on at a time, so while Beam AI is working on providing the takeoff and quantities, we are able to work on other projects. The program is very user friendly and is very helpful when addendums come in. Cons My biggest drawback to Beam AI is if we have a project that may take a long time to be in the review phase in the program, and with a short amount of time between the due date and when the invite to the project was sent, we have been unable to have the results back in time. Pros it quadrupled the aount of bids I could do. Very easy to use. Customer serice is great. The GUI is very smooth. Cons It doesnt have pircing for the duct or materials as I can do with a different software however it's way faster.
