I have experienced that getting started with Operating has been easy regarding getting our project- and line managers to use it. There are basic functionalities you can start using right away and multiples levels of added features you can implement as you go for even more value from the platform.

Pros

It's easy and intuitive to use with all the right features implemented and no irrelevant clutter. The team is extremely responsive regarding both support and small feature requests

Cons

I'd like a few more visual cues (e.g. color coding) on the data reports to make them even better, but that is a very minor thing.

Our consultants have been very happy with the software saying it's easy to use and is time saving compared to the previous system. The Operating team also offers great support whenever needed.

Pros

The workflow is optimal for what we are aiming to achieve with the software. We also really benefit from the reporting and forecasting features in our consultancy business.

Cons

Some features are still under way since the software is quite new. For example recurring monthly resourcing and work time balance features are still coming.

We have been extremely happy with Operating, and any challenges or questions we have had, have been resolved super fast by their excellent customer service team.

Pros

UI is very responsive and intuitive to use. Operating makes resourcing and budgeting projects extremely simple, and their comprehensive APIs allow us to connect data and our project tracking systems solidly together.

Cons

More granular user permissions would allow us to adapt Operating for wider user-base. Enhancing the time tracking to support flexi hours, would also help us to consolidate tooling, although their excellent APIs enable us to have nearly seamless integrations.

Overall, it has been great to have been introduced to Operating. Within a couple of weeks, I was able to build or achieve almost all of my use case requirements with minimal assistance on certain areas.

Pros

Simplistic design, Easy of use, Reduced learning curve with respect to inbuilt capabilities and functionalities, achieves a wide range of use case requirements with respect to resource planning, utilization and work allocation

Cons

From a usability point of view, I would prefer Operating to also come up automated report generation capabilities (auto scheduling) as a future capability.

Operating is the software I wished I had 20 years ago when I started working in consulting. The application is continuously developed to meet customer needs, providing an efficient and intuitive tool for personnel management/staffing. The company's technical support has always resolved our issues quickly and expertly.

Pros

The flexible and easy-to-use interface. The software is excellent for IT consulting staffing and planning.

Cons

The reporting provides basic reports and visibility into staffing data. During self-service reporting, I would like to have more options for slice and dice reports.

Operating has been a fantastic addition to our workflow. It aligns perfectly with our sales and staffing process, making information easily accessible across the team. The platform’s skills feature has been particularly valuable, helping both in staffing decisions and in enabling our consultants to structure and communicate their expertise effectively. Additionally, the business transparency it provides has been a game-changer for keeping everyone aligned.

Pros

One of the biggest advantages of Operating is how it makes our staffing process highly efficient while also providing company-wide business transparency. The platform is easy to use, integrates well with our HubSpot CRM and Harvest time tracking, and the support team is always quick to respond. It’s also highly reliable, with no downtime or technical issues. Another great aspect is that the team behind Operating is very receptive to feedback, continuously improving the product based on user input.

Cons

Occasional duplicate records via the HubSpot integration. Additionally, while the reporting views are useful, they could be simplified in some areas to make analysis even more seamless

My overall experience with Operating has been very positive. The tool is simple to use, and the support from the developers has been excellent—they are quick to respond and address any questions or concerns. Operating has greatly improved our team planning and forecasting by integrating smoothly with HubSpot and Harvest, automating many tasks that used to be manual. It's helped us reduce errors and be more efficient in our operations, especially with forecasting hours and planning for upcoming projects. Overall, it’s made a big difference in how we manage our workload and resources.

Pros

What I like most about Operating is how seamlessly it integrates with both HubSpot and Harvest, which has streamlined our entire workflow. It pulls in sales pipeline data automatically, so we no longer need to manually update spreadsheets or rely on constant updates from the sales team. The tool also makes it easy to plan the best teams for projects by using real-time data on current workloads and historical time tracking. The filtering and reporting features have significantly improved over time, allowing us to make more informed decisions with less effort. Overall, the ease of use and the ability to automate key processes have been the biggest advantages.

Cons

What I like least about Operating is the lack of a built-in comments feature, which means we have to rely on Slack for discussions and notes about assignments. Additionally, the data from Harvest and HubSpot requires manual refreshing, which can sometimes be overlooked. Lastly, it can be tricky to ensure that all deals are correctly connected to a Harvest project if not monitored closely.

Overall it makes it much easier. Previously we would be using Excels and the information was in peoples minds and it usually easily got lost. With Operating we have a handle on our resourcing and staffing needs and we can have a forecast for the future needs for the projects and clients we have.

Pros

Good integrations to other systems like Harvest, Pipedrive that we are using already. It makes it easy to schedule the times of the resources we have and see at a glance what are the project requirements.

Cons

You need to remember to sync with other systems as it doesn't necessarily do it automatically. Also When you have externals it sometimes messes up the reports.

Easy implementation with active and fast support from Operating. Smooth user experience. Operating welcomes our feedback and has developed the solution quite a bit since we took it in use a few months ago.

Pros

Fast overview of ongoing &new projects, capacity, and performance for both consultants and staffing-team leaders. Super easy to find people with right skillset and availability for each project.

Cons

In our system landscape, taking Operating into use meant implementing a new system on top of already existing ones (CRM + hour registration/billing system). Ideally we would have as few as possible systems, but in the end it is just important that each system is very good at their key-purpose and that it is easy to integrate.

It has been a really good experience so far. Not always internally the easiest to determine i.e who to include/exclude from the team in Operating and how to keep Toggl vs. Operating data updated to take full advantage of the reports.

Pros

Clear and mostly easy to use. Offers a good overview on the allocations and resources available. Easily becomes a part of daily planning routine.

Cons

Team members finding the platform complex at times and the UX to be slightly 'boring' and colourless. Integrating certain tools such as Toggl data seems a bit complex to be done by different team members.

I think Operating is the tool we were missing without knowing we needed it. Hours were being tracked and revenue forecasts were made, but it was all in separate tools and required quite a lot of effort to get the insights that Operating offers.

Pros

Operating has different reporting layers, that I used on a daily basis. For example I could see at a glimpse how our marketing technology consultants are staffed for the next months to come. Since there are many reporting layers and different views to choose from, the user interface takes some time to learn. Once you find your favorite views and build your routines it's easy to use.
