" May 21, 2026 4.0 Throughout our P21 journey we have been supported by great members of the Epicor Project Team. Their signature methodology enabled the successful delivery of our new ERP system, with regular communication on the next steps and phases of the project. Our Project Manager made the whole process very smooth. We are now in a position where P21 can support our growth and expansion plans for years to come. Pros •Epicor’s Customer Support is second to none. You get an instant reply from their friendly Team who genuinely want to help you and 9/10 do get you the solutions you need. •The flexibility you have to create a system that works for you. P21 is a very powerful and customisable system that can in effect be tailored to you, the end user. With the power of Dynachnage to introduce new fields and Business Rules to help automate repetitive processes, you have the flexibility to mould the system to your needs and improve efficiencies. •Permissions – you can be very granular with access for the screens and functions accessible by roles. •The ELC and help and support built into P21 enable the Team to get the self help they require in a variety of channels. From helpful tutorial videos to ‘how to’ knowledge guides, there’s a variety of content available for the Team to access. Cons •There is a distinct gap in knowledge for the UK market in Finance and the functionality of P21 lacks here. •Custom work can be challenging. •Integration with Quick Ship – no one in the UK seems to have knowledge on this product. •Maintenance Screens – there is one for every possible area which can be slightly overwhelming. Technical Manager Design Used the software for: 1-2 years ### "Prophet 21: We haven’t looked back since" May 16, 2026 5.0 Despite the initial length of time to get the implementation going. When we were allocated a senior PM the project really took off. From about this point it took us around 6-8 months to go live. Which is how I really judge the project. The PM we had at the time was fantastic and supported us all the way through and did everything in his power to get us live on time. When we did Go-Live the support was fantastic we had Epicor engineers on site helping make sure the system was functioning as it should and since then we haven’t looked back. The system is cloud based so you can log in from anywhere in the world. This is incredibly helpful when you need to get answers to a question and you are out of the office. The fact that you can amended screens and tailor them to suit your business practices is priceless. For anyone thinking about choosing P21. Just do it! The implementation isn’t easy but it’s worth the short term pain for the long term gain. Pros It’s scalability. We came from a system which wasn’t easy to turn on new features. But in Prophet 21 if you want to turn on a new feature you can do so at the click of a button and there’s easy to red help articles which will guide you through what you need to do. It’s fantastic to have a system that can grow with the company as it evolves rather than being capped in certain areas. Cons The implementation process. First off I have never done an implementation of an ERP system before, so take this review from that perspective. However, we found that the implementation process was a bit clunky we went through multiple project managers as they kept leaving Epicor which meant information between PMs was lost when they handed over and time was added on to the project. Additionally at the start it took a while to get basic things set up like users and access to the ELC etc. I felt like this stuff shouldn’t have taken as long as I did to set up again adding time to the overall project. Accountant Consumer Goods Used the software for: 1-2 years ### "Stay Away!" January 12, 2026 1.0 An unethical company that mis-represents itself as a leader in the industry. It's not a true ERP system, rather small individual databases with a poor and unsuccessful attempt to integrate them together. The databases do not communicate with each other, and if they do, it's at a minimal level. Be prepared to adapt to a day/month/year format, and 24-hour time printing on all documents, and accept customer service replies stating, "We are not responsible for any bugs or lack of audit proof tracking". Pros NOTHING. The website appearance is more sophisticated than the software itself. Font and graphics have not been updated from DOS. The system is not auditing proof. Has no build in financial reports. Including basic accounting 101 such as P&L, balance sheet, general ledger activity, or bank reconciliation reports. You must create your own forms using either Excell or Crystal reports. Manually map each line and column to their database and fields. In other words, you must hire a software programmer that knows SQL. This is NOT a user-friendly software. A simple example - to view a customer's records you must go to various screens. One to see their contact information, another to view their purchase and payment activity, another to update phone number, another to change address, and yet another to re-print an invoice. Cons Everything. From inventory management, finance, to sales. The verbiage, and titles throughout the system are uncomprehensible. It's obvious it was written in a foreign language translated into English using a dictionary, without common sense. May 15, 2026 4.0 Prophet 21 is intuitive and easy to learn, slashing user training times compared to our previous ERP. Having the ability to make system changes in-house has been a major game-changer. Pros What stands out most about Epicor Prophet 21 is its exceptional agility; the platform allows you to implement changes and business rules with absolute ease. Crucially, updates that would typically take weeks or months in other systems can be successfully deployed in just a matter of hours. Cons Being restricted to read-only access on a single database at any given time creates a significant bottleneck, heavily restricting our ability to perform concurrent testing and data work. IT manager Wholesale Used the software for: 1-2 years ### "Epicor’s Prophet 21: The Good and Bad" September 26, 2025 3.0 Overall Prophet 21 itself is an excellent baseline ERP system that will work for most businesses, without much customization. However the problems with Tech Support can substantially hinder business continuity- if problems arise or if complies plan to use more advanced features and expecting assistance. Pros Prophet 21 is easy to use and easy for employees to learn to use. Base functionality can be adapted to most businesses- and Epicor does offer third party add on’s to fill in gaps of functionality, or adding advanced features to streamline businesses. Cons Though Prophet 21 is a fully functional baseline ERP system- additional support for the product is very limited. Epicor likes to charge for any assistance for functionality users may need assistance with. Epicor Tech Support, which is a subscription service, is poor at best when dealing with frontline support. In order to obtain tech support to truly get problems resolved- you have to escalate support tickets to higher level support to get answers to problems. Like most companies- frontline support is overseas, which has language and critical thinking barriers. Epicor does not acknowledge that companies they deal with May have their own IT staff making requests for support, therefore Epicor support tends to waste time wanting to discuss basic understanding of troubleshooting. This includes Epicor Tech support rehashing information already provided when support ticket was originally requested. Managing Director Mechanical or Industrial Engineering Used the software for: 1-2 years ### "Prophet 21 Review" May 19, 2026 5.0 Some hurdles had to be jumped initially, but now we are running a very slick system that controls all our business processes with lots of room for expansion and continuous improvement in most area's. The Grow BI system is fantastic and was simple to implement. It gives us instant visibility for all our KPI's. The support team is always on hand to assist with issues and help bring new modules online, and we find them very responsive. After attending a few of the Customer Connect meetings I have been impressed by the roadmap and I am confident we have invested in a future-proof system that will meet our needs as we expand. Pros I love being able to access the system from anywhere without the need for VPN's or other screen share portals. The warehouse management system has dramatically improved our stores and distribution processes. Cons The implementation took a lot of time and we didn't realise at first how much work would be required. The end result was worth the investment. Pros The inventory inquiry view is easier to find than other HVAC ERP systems, I was impressed with how quickly I can reach most screens I need to work with using the shortcut keys. Cons I was not a fan of how long it takes for reports to be downloaded from the Epicor system, the system seems to freeze while waiting for reports to be completed. The items I listed as Cons are so severe they are causing my company to look ignorant and lose money. Pros Overall the software works well for us but the cons are serious. Cons Credit card processing does not work at all. Epicor has not corrected the obvious issues in 10 years and does not listen to the complaints. Cursor placement is not obvious it gets lost on the screen. Can't easily swap from quotes to sales orders or vice versa once you enter product. Uses way too much paper everything prints using way too much area. Epicor does not offer monthly invoicing only massive invoices at end of year. Customer has no idea what he is purchasing until he sees printed receipt, there should be a secondary monitor facing customer for pricing approvals. There are no out of the box financial reports. You have to build your own and teach yourself how to build them. After you enter your products if you hit the enter button too many times you will have no idea where your cursor has been placed. If you accidentally change the current date on the order to before the current date let's say year 2000 the prices on the receipt go to ZERO for every product. When invoicing a back order the software does not tell you what quantity is owed it only shows what was invoiced and what was ordered. You must do the math as to what is owed. Data Analyst Information Technology and Services Used the software for: 1-2 years ### "Mostly does what you need it to do" November 23, 2019 3.0 Customer service generally respond to tickets quickly, but oftentimes one representative will tell us something is impossible or not part of baseline functionality, only to have a different rep eventually tell us that it is possible and then show us how to do it. This has happened several times. When putting in a request for a custom script (as we are told to do for many requests), it takes weeks or months to get the issue resolved. Pros Through DynaChange, administrators have great control over which modules/screens their users can use. There are many ways to customize the various modules, either by groups of like users or user-specific. Once learned, the software contains everything needed to run the business; Accounting, Inventory Management, Order Processing, etc. Cons Not user-friendly. Users have complained there are many steps (more than is typical) needed to do basic tasks. This is only an 'out of the box' product for very basic use. There are many customizations needed to make the product do what the salesmen say it can do. Hosted software has several drawbacks, such as updates to forms sometimes not being pushed through properly, or having changes to forms revert because the changes did not properly propogate to all clustered servers. The same can be said about changes to printers on the network; settings will be updated and the next day they will revert to the old settings. When a data import has an error, it is not always easy to decipher what the error means. There have been some bumps in the road but ultimately Epicor listens and responds. We have participated in all of the User Conferences and User Group Conferences. There is an awesome World Wide User Group (WWUG) that is very active and supportive. We have tried to take advantage and apply all of the P21 features that we can and see great return on that effort. Pros The application is loaded with features and benefits, particularly on the distribution side of the software. Our business consists of both Light Manufacturing (35%) and Distribution (65%) which is one of the key areas of the P21 functionality. You can search the market and find excellent distribution software and also search the market and find excellent manufacturing software, but try to find one that is excellent in both. P21 is the leader in this area and they are continuing to enhance both "sides" of the application. We also like the Windows environment which makes it very easy for new users to learn the navigation. Epicor has a lot of third party partners and providers that can bring volumes of additional resources and functionalities to the table. The SQL database is open which provides a ton of value when it comes to additional functionalities. I also love the ability to modify the baseline software appearance with Dynachange, and basic functional logic using Business Rules, and many other similar features. Cons P21 was built on an older database structure and has become limited in modifications such as lengthening the Item ID, or improving speed, and other core database structure. This can be limiting, however the solution most of these has been introduced with the Web enabled P21 application. Otherwise we have had a great experience. CFO Wholesale Used the software for: 2+ years ### "Long-Time Happy Customer" November 18, 2021 5.0 Determining profitability at a line item level or at a customer level in our legacy software was almost impossible and very tedious so we used to make a lot of decisions at a high level versus being able to really determine where our issues were. We not have instant visibility and can make decisions daily vs waiting until month end and using volumes of spreadsheets to perform analysis. We have been able to grow our revenue without an increase in operational staffing. Pros Grove has used P21 for 12 years now and are very happy. We love the fact that we can see rebated costs in the software at order entry and determine exactly what we are making on an order. Everything is part of one package so you are not worrying about add on packages that integrate with P21 as it is all a P21 product. If there is an issue, there is only one vendor to deal with. Our inventory accuracy is extremely high and we can always tell where an order is in process simply by drilling down within the system. Great product. Cons If there was anything I didn't like I would say that there are some bells and whistles in other parts of the system that have not made its way to the accounting piece. For example, you cannot enter notes in accounts payable like you can in other parts of the software so you have to develop a work around. However, we have always figured out a solution to what we need. Reason for choosing Epicor Prophet 21 Rebates, rebates, rebates. Prophet 21 was the only product that was tried and true with rebate functionality. All of the other products either did not have the capability and wanted us to help develop it or were in the basic beginning stages of developing the product. System Analyst Consumer Goods Used the software for: Less than 6 months ### "Filled with features but slow" November 16, 2016 4.0 The vast amount of features allows it to be compatible with many different business models throughout several industries which can make it a little over complicated on what to do via data-entry as your company doesn't use every single piece of functionality and you have to fill in the appropriate area for what your company is using as there are allot of fields and tabs that you could have to update. So it can produce very detailed information if allot of the fields are utilized. Speed is a huge concern with this software as it has multiple layers of programming on top of an outdated platform that makes the data entry workable but painfully slow once you get used to running the software. I am not part of the financial portion so I only gave it one star because it wouldn't let me erase and make it no stars. See Advise to Others for more details. Pros Scale-ability and the capability to mold to a lot of different companies business models. The Purchasing/Forecasting functionality is top notch and very mold-able to any purchasing model ranging from central purchasing down to individualized seasonal items. Once set up it will let you get away with a smaller procurement department as the system will tell you what you need to order. The vendor is good about fixing issues quickly but sometimes difficult to distinguish between an actual error and a company specific business process. There are a ton of purchasable add-on's from the Vendor them-self along with even more third party add-on's that makes this a wonderful software if you have the money and skilled personnel to support it. Cons Scale-ability and the capability to mold to a lot of different companies business models. Since this software can mold to a large variety of business models it can make training difficult and long due to the complexities of the software's advanced features. This also makes data entry combersome as you have to know what fields to enter depending on what functionality you are using. Slow to implement vendor driven Idea's Network from user ideas. The product feels extremely slow once you get used to running the system and is glitchy because of the method chosen to release updates and advancements. Developers run a continuous improvement program with multiple releases a year so as they are designing new features at the same time they are cleaning errors and glitches rather than waiting a long time for advancements and a rock solid release. This could also be considered good and bad if you need an advancement, you don't have to wait! The companies move to have the first level of support go to India can lead to frustrations because of the communication blearier along with the new support teams are not yet very knowledgeable with the software and the level of experiences with the software is still being developed Review Source mS mike S. Systems Manager Wholesale Used the software for: 1-2 years ### "People need to know before they waste their money and time" December 14, 2021 3.0 I could never recommend this software for anyone, unless you have lots of money to waste and lots of time fixing issues they create and like speaking to someone you can't understand from another country when you are trying to fix something. I am currently working to find a 3rd party for support. For the money we pay for support and the money we paid for the software, there shouldn't be this many issues. Pros Integration from our old P21 system went pretty well. Cons Training was horrible. A lot of things we were not shown and things we were shown weren't always the right way. Support is even worse. Most of the time I can't understand their broken English. That is when I actually get to speak with someone. They are rude and mostly not helpful. It is not 24/7 support. They put out updates that crash the system and cause down time. They make major changes without any notification. Like a new print server so when you come in on a Monday morning, no one can print. Accounting has full visability of all transactions and can easily powerdrill into transactions for support. Pros Prophet 21 offers a complete package with accounting, inventory and light manufacturing modules to businesses of all sizes. The intuitive ease of use, and the ability to customize as needed has made this a very versatile software package. Cons This software package is so robust, it feels at times that it is impossible to learn about all of the features within the application. this forces me to depend on consultants and onsite engagements with Epicor employees to find new features that may be applicable to your business process. These engagements while incredibly useful are expensive. Reason for choosing Epicor Prophet 21 Epicor's package was more comprehensive out of the box. Other systems could do the same work, but it would have required additional customized programming to achieve the same results. Have not wanted to change ever" March 6, 2018 4.0 The ability to communicate everything about inventory, sales, purchase with everyone on our team at the same time. It is rather intuitive so training is fairly easy. Month end procedures are documented and easy to do. Pros The ability to see all facets of history in every ribbon/window and can go way back in time. The inventory module allows for us to go into our warehouse directly to where the item is and we can see costs, sales, quotes, etc. Cons The accounting package is staid and doesn't allow for easy access to edit. Records are like pictures so you can't edit rather than documents you can. Also, support was by far the overriding reason I crowed about P21/Epicor but not anymore. To often I get people who tell me to look at a solution in their data base rather than assisting me with my current issue, or don't even realize that I am hosted. Review Source EH Erik H. Office MAnager Wholesale Used the software for: 2+ years ### "Easy to use" September 10, 2019 4.0 We are using Epicor Eclipse (Eterm) to handle our accounting functions, financial reporting functions, sales, purchases, inventory control and whatever else I may have forgotten. We rely on this system, almost to the point of live or die by it. Pros I like how easy it is to actually use (after set up). I also like how easy it is to learn how to use, especially if you have some previous experience using another brand ERP software. The point upgrades are extremely easy to perform as well. Cons There are a few things I don't like about this software. The report writer is tricky to use if you only write reports once every couple of years, you can easily forget how it is done/what is necessary. There are certain processes that aren't clearly laid out in the system like hot keys in certain screens aren't laid out. It's a good solid system for small to medium business and works well in and for single and multi-location businesses. Support could be a challenge at times but the solutions database and online training has a wealth of knowledge and most of my issues could be resolved there. Pros Automation of behind the scenes accounting functions (no more batch processing!!) Navigation is intuitive once you learn the function menus. Pros Inventory control is a dream with advanced demand forecasting. Allows your employees to work on other aspects of your business. Extremely low barrier to entry for training new employees on the software. We think it is very intuitive. Cons Reporting has always lacked; however, there are many very good 3rd party tools out there. CFO Logistics and Supply Chain Used the software for: 2+ years ### "Distribution Software" September 25, 2019 4.0 We use the software to run the business and it does fine, but we have to have a lot of other tools to allow us to do some of the critical pieces of the business like procurement . It is not designed to do a highly level analysis need in the supply chain. Pros The software is relatively easy to use and the on-line training making bring new staff on board easy. Cons The software needs to have a better ability to create custom reports and produce financial statements. The inventory module needs to have more stability to it. We find errors often. The purchasing system is not adequate for a high level supply chain. We have also been able to reduce inventory substantially by using Prophet 21's inventory management tools. Pros Ease of use. Prophet 21 application designers have put a lot of thought into making Prophet 21 simple to use yet powerful enough to meet the demands of thousands of distribution businesses. Open database. I love the open database architecture. It allows me all the functionality I need to write custom reports for my business. Fits a wide range of business requirements. Cons Lots of stuff in there we just don't use. Can sometimes be slow aggregating data. Artificial limit on the number of windows that can be open in the software at one time. Pros The fact that you can feed it and update it with all the information that is important to your company, you can customize it and the options as far as I've been seen are numerous. Cons Sometimes reports were difficult to be pulled, took too long or were inaccurate. We had to pull them more than once and data wasn't the same.
