The DSE Rec team has been extremely responsive and helpful throughout the process from the initial review steps through implementation and now ongoing support. Pros Flexibility with modular setup to only purchase modules that fit our needs and customization options in the user inteface and backend configuration are key benefits of DSE Rec. Overall, DSE Rec is very intuitive and allows for easy training and configuration for both back-end as well as front end user experience. Cons Nothing in particular, some modules are newer and are less robust, but there have been regular improvements and updates to the modules since we transitioned. We had some early growing pains due to a short-transition window between systems at the start of our term, but \[sensitive content hidden\] and the rest of the DSE staff have been responsive and helpful in managing and/or resolving some persistent issues. They are also open to feedback and look for ways to incorporate suggestions, if they make sense for the greater customer base (not just 1-2 institutions). Pros I like that we can have everything in one system - membership management, sales, registrations, employee scheduling, etc. It makes it much easier than bouncing between 2-3 different systems. Cons It would be helpful to be able to limit view/access by an area if needed. That way we won't have staff at the climbing wall doing a blanket check-in for items that were checked out in the gym, etc. It would also be helpful to be able to assign a member profile to a point of sale item - both for tracking sales and for being able to find transactions if needing to refund, etc. That said, the DSE staff are receptive to suggestions and are constantly working on improvements and implementing our ideas where possible. Their modules are remarkably user-friendly and straightforward on the backend, which makes training student staff that are continually rotating extremely helpful. You can pick and choose which modules fit your department the best. We're looking forward to all the reports available to us as well as the feedback from students which has been positive thus far. It's a one stop shop for our patrons without the need to have multiple accounts on multiple applications for all of our programs and services. Very intuitive and easy to use. Pros Facility Scheduling ties into other modules so double booking spaces has been cut down. Employee scheduling module is reasonably priced and meets our university's IT security standards. DSE Staff are great to work with and take suggestions for improvement. Their bread and butter is sport club management module which is robust and excellent. Cons While excellent product for Admin staff, they are steadily improving customer experience but more is still needed. Still waiting to be able to purchase two items in a single transaction. Hoping a kids camp module will be available in 2026. Reports are good, but access to specific data sometimes requires DSE to pull data that isn't pre-populated for needed university reports. It's nice to have a one stop shop to run multiple areas of our recreation department. Cons The view that we get as schedule creators is awesome. I can see everything at a glance and it's beautiful. The student side however, is pretty rough for them to see who is on shifts with them. I would love it if they gave students access to a view only version of the schedule that we see. " December 9, 2024 5.0 Overall, it has been fantastic. It works very well. It is easy to use. The staff are wonderful! Pros I have used several large rec and fitness management softwares like ActiveNet, DataTrak, and MindBody to try to run fitness and recreation centers. DSE Rec is easily the best I have used due to its robust module breakdown; it's simplistic, modern way of managing them; and their staff's responsiveness and ability to assist. DSE stands for "Do Sports Easy", and I can tell you that is factually true with its club and intramural sport modules. Adding the club sport module to our management of our 43 club teams is a game changer. It takes a fragmented approach to club sport management and centralizes it for everyone from the administrators to those on the club teams. DSE Rec also offers modules for most facility and programming needs in Recreation. We use it for access control, membership sales, equipment check out, equipment rentals, facility scheduling, intramural sports, club sports, personal training, and group fitness services. I have worked in fitness and recreation for 20 years now, and this is the first software to allow unlimited group fitness passes AND punch passes to coexist in the same system with ease! I cannot recommend it enough to other recreation and fitness professionals. Ultimately, the modules work very well for what we need, and the platform is very modern and simple to use. Cons All software has limitations because it's built a very specific way. However, we have been nothing but thrilled with how well it meets our needs. Switched from [ACTIVENet](https://www.capterra.com/p/115451/ACTIVE-Net/) ActiveNet was so complicate and antiquated. It was a powerful software, but you needed a dedicated staff member to manage it. The interface was incredibly old and hard to navigate. ActiveNet did not provide regular customer support. You had to pay for it whenever you needed it! It was so bad. We made the software switch mid-semester with intention of a slow roll out and transition, but staff (full time, part time and students) were able to navigate the system quickly allowing us to integrate rapidly. Pros Although DSE was created and designed for campus recreation centers, it works perfectly for my needs as well as it relates to college student club and organization registration and management. I think if anything just that some of the features aren't as customizable for my platform specifically and are instead features that exist for all platforms across the board.
