I was three years behind on taxes and had tried every other accounting software out there (PSA WAVE IS THE ABSOLUTE WORST!). With smart clerk i was able to cleanup my books and get my taxes filed! Pros The intelligence of the AI when it came to correct categorizing transactions. I also really appreciate the clean reports. Very easy to use and understand. Most of all i absolutely love the option to look at both your bank statement and expenses when comparing any mistakes when reconciling. Cons As of right now i have no complaints or issues with Smart Clerk. i guess my only issue is having to type 100 characters in this section when i have no complaints lol Switched from [Wave](https://www.capterra.com/p/178021/Wave-Apps/) Wave is a very unprofessional and heartless company. I wasnt even signed up with them for more than two months and i sent my first invoice to a client which totaled out to be 13,000.00. i did this after i was approved for payments of course. Wave Held my funds and then cancelled my account. I couldnt get a straight answer from anyone which was frustrating. They do not have a call center its all done through emails. When my client attempted to do a reversal they denied him and said he has to wait 70 days to be reimbursed. We are still waiting on them to release funds. for more info on this awful company please look up my experience on the BBB website. I have high hopes for what it will turn into in the future, but it has a long ways to go. Pros The accuracy for the import is impressive. Out of over 2,000 rows imported via PDF scan, I had to clean up maybe 2% of them due to sloppy handwriting on checks. Overall very impressive AI-Powered OCR technology. Cons There needs to be a way to verify statement imports when there is a mismatch. When you import a large dataset, there needs to be a review function or like an AI overlay that shows each row that was imported. I imported 18 months or so and I am missing 50 or sow rows compared to my spreadsheet which is very concerning. The categorization is very basic as well. You can't delete a category without first making sure no items exist in that category. It should either default them to 'Other' when you delete a category, or ask what you want to do. There also needs to be a way to re-order categories/sub-categories. Lastly, they key on category name which is absurd. There are a lot of use-cases where sub-categories would share the same name and are only unique because of their parent cat. Lots of work to do here. You just add in your statements or connect your bank and then review. Cons A bit complicated at the start, but once we figured out how it works it was great! Way better than using quickbooks. Seems to work great for after the fact accounting. Cons With only limited usage so far I have not found any"cons" . I am sure with expanded use I will discover a "con". Pros So far it looks promising and that it will be saving me and my little business a lot of time to get our expenses organized and ready to do our taxes Cons That the tier pricing and levels are not very clear, but other than that it has been good and the support is responding fast so far. It provides an income statement based on your checking and credit card statements. I don't think it allows cash transactions, but I haven't gotten that far yet. Pros It put all the information from my checking account in the accounting program in seconds. What used to take me an hour will now be done in seconds. Cons It seems that there is no invoice feature for me to bill my customers. There is no place for customers...only vendors. I will have to use a separate invoice software program for that. There doesn't seem to be a way to enter cash transactions. Switched from [QuickBooks Desktop](https://www.capterra.com/p/212058/QuickBooks-Desktop-Pro/) QuickBooks is out of date and not user-friendly. Pros I found that Smart Clerck an easy way to keep my expenses and income all in one plane, and visualize on graphic. Cons I would like to connect bank account direct to the website, so instead of uploading the pdf, the statement would sink automatically. Pros Amazing, for me that struggles to just look at a database or spreadsheet .-- this has been magic. Pros Easy to use and setup. Other providers claimed to have a statement to expense report function but it was convoluted and did not work efficiently. Cons No mobile app for receipt tracking or other expense tracking. I would be interested in learning if there are plans for an app in the future. I’m so glad I did. I tried the free upload. It did more than what I expected, and decided to subscribe. Pros The professional dashboard and the ease to locate important information. As well as the ability to create categorized reports. Cons Although some may consider it a bit expensive, I feel it as well worth it for what it offers and saves in time.
