Our office was searching for an automated method of redacting large numbers of documents, around 30,000 pages or so. CaseGuard looked promising and I scheduled a meeting with an account executive, George. George stated that his software would be more than capable of doing what we needed and that we could likely get all of our work done on a modified one-month agreement. I downloaded the software, watched the training, and attended the in-person training with an individual named \[sensitive content hidden\] . She explained how the software worked (it is a local download, you do not access via an online app). I was again told that the software is more than capable of completing the work we needed. I ran the first batch of documents that night (90 files that were 50-80 pages each, well below the 30K I was told the software could handle). The majority of the files failed to process. I contacted \[sensitive content hidden\] who asked some questions and then scheduled another meeting with their tech person, I forgot his name. He made some changes and I was told it would work. It did not. I let him know what I saw and he made some more changes. It again failed to process the majority of the files. At this point it was clear that the capabilities of the software had been drastically oversold. I asked for a refund and was met with a request for another trouble shooting session with some work arounds, at least one of which was to process smaller batches of documents. Again, that is not what I was sold and not what I signed up for. I again requested a refund and was denied "because I have had access to the software for a month." Never mind that the software does not do what it purports to do. Suggest that you move to another solution, don't work with these people. Their conduct says everything about their organizations values and character.

Pros

The initial demos and sales promises suggested powerful automation and large-scale redaction, which sounded ideal for our needs.

Cons

The software repeatedly failed on modest document batches, and refund requests were denied despite it not performing as promised.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We’re sorry for the frustration and want to give more context. This was a one-month CaseGuard license. Our licenses are usage-based: an annual license includes 48,000 pages, which prorates to 4,000 pages per month. When submissions exceed the allowance, processing may fail or pause until additional capacity is added. In this case, total pages submitted exceeded the monthly limit purchased. To help, we provided an additional 4,000 pages at no cost and extended the license period. Our team provided onboarding, training, and troubleshooting sessions, and offered a brief follow-up call to finalize resolution, but that call was declined. While we understand the frustration, the software and services were delivered as described, and the issue was tied to usage beyond the licensed volume. Therefore, the refund request did not meet our refund policy criteria. We remain committed to transparency and good-faith support.
