Service in general is fast and coming from knowledgeable people. I enjoy this product. Pros AGTEK provides a clear picture of the project at each stage you build out and allows you to compare them comprehensively. On many occasions, clients have ben appreciative of being able to see the cut and fill on a 3D map. Creating those maps is quite intuitive, yet allows room for even a seasoned take off expert with opportunities to grow. Offsets and templates make generating detailed modules go smoothly. Cons There are small nuances that arise when you try and push the program beyond it's typical scope; unable to have perimeters and report regions cross, and strata layers not showing fills. The software gives our team an advantage when analyzing early grading and site work plans by helping determine ways that the engineering teams can design grading plans that are better optimized for cut/fill conditions, reduce risk earlier in the process and provide real value to our clients throughout the design build process. Pros AGTEK Gradework is a comprehensive earthwork quantification tool that allows for detailed analysis of quantities of earthwork for site work, roadways, dams, treatment facilities and many other types of heavy civil construction. The ability to evaluate projects in pieces and quickly analyze site balancing conditions is invaluable. These tools among others allow the estimator to evaluate risk, construction efficiency and plan the work to provide value to the client. Converting from SF to SY is easy afterwards but I would like to find out the way to automatically do this, so the report quantity has SY. Pros The ability to quickly get takeoff quantities for bids/quotes. Getting areas, counts, and lengths for takeoffs are necessary in asphalt construction. Agtek Gradework makes this much easier/quicker to achieve. Cons Some functions such as changing units prior to takeoffs can be difficult. I most likely need some refreshing on this. Cons There are a couple of functions I am accustomed to using from AutoCAD that I would like to see in Gradework. Also, the export to Excel function is a thing of beauty. Cons Lack of a shortcut key to delete the selected point. The software freezes occasionally, so you have to remember to save often. Pros Outstanding option to gather the data needed for sitework, excavating, utility, and paving work. The ability to work with both PDF and CAD files is extremely helpful. Add onto that the ability to generate 3D grade control models and utilize drone data, it is top notch Cons Could use a few more tools when it comes to cleaning up poorly drawn projects. The software is not intended to be a substitute for CAD, but too often the lazy CAD techs leave a sloppy mess and we end up spending countless hours cleaning it up so we can get reliable data. We have been using materials for over 10 years. Now we are using underground for pipework and reveal for drones. It is like one stop shopping for anything involving sitework estimating and design. Every so often if we get stuck and have to reach out to the help desk they are fast to respond and always solve the problems in a timely manner. I can not wait to see what else comes out in the next 20 years. Pros Fast and easy way to get a complete take-off for all things earthwork. Reports are set up and ready to present in front of owners/clients/coworkers in minutes. We also use the surfaces to create files for the gps systems in the field (for the rovers and the machines) Cons the biggest complaint I have is that the screen can not be rotated. If a file is set up in real world coordinates they are sometimes facing odd directions and it would be better if the screen could be oriented in a better way to read it. Even rotating 90 degrees at a time would be better than having to look at it upside down or sideways. The ability to build projects that we are going to bid and the options that we then have to look at with said project are second to none. Multiple times, we have found things that have given us an edge when it came to bid day. On the model building side, the 3D viewer makes a world of difference as well, especially when dealing with CAD files that have issues; being able to see clearly and manipulate the 3D views to find and fix is essential. The addition of underground and being able to see the pipe runs in place and any conflicts makes a world of difference. Overall, a great program and company to work with, and always impressed by continued innovation that Agtek brings year over year. Pros Agtek Gradework is the total package for everything we do from drone work to estimating to model building. We have been using agtek software for 15+ years and will continue to do so. I came from a background with limited CAD experience, but through the vast amount of online videos and webinars, I was able to figure out how to do everything that we needed. If I could not find what I needed, customer support was second to none in helping me, every time and within minutes. Cons Early on, (and in the end not the fault of the program) I ran into issues with the program crashing, but again through multiple discussions, customer support helped to solve the problem. AGTEK does this and so much more! Am super anxious to grow our company as we grow with the tools AGTEK offers. Pros 100% Ease of use! This tool is a vital piece of estimating sitework and materials takeoffs. I discovered that once I understand the nuances of AGTEK Gradework, calculating earthwork values is a breeze. The importance of this tool is made evident in the value it brings to our estimating. We are so much more accurate on anticipating costs and subsequently, our profits are going up in this line item. I try to watch as many webinars as I can, even if they are not necessarily relevant to our scope of work, because I always seem to glean some beneficial nugget that is (i.e. a new hot key, shortcut, more efficient method, etc.). Anytime I have a question or a problem, our Agtek representative is quick to respond. If he cannot provide an immediate solution, he knows who can. Pros In general, Gradework is the most sensible evolution Agtek has released in my 10 years of experience. Meshing earthwork, materials and underground into one program has cut down time and allowed me to perfect my own efficient takeoff system. One of the most useful features is the ability to view underground conflicts in 3D mode of Gradework and identifying specific conflict locations in Materials. Being able to generate maps and images of potential conflicts not only benefits the estimating side, it also aids our project managers and field crews. Cons I don't know that there is anything I like "least;" however, I do have a suggestion. Unless I am unaware of an existing capability, I would like to have default surfaces in Gradework and default phases in Materials set up every time I start a new job, like the default classes in Materials. I typically create eight additional surfaces and at least four phases for each job. Again, this would be a massive help for time efficiency. Pros The Plan view and 3d view, these profiles really help me visualize the work I am doing and bring the 2D plans to life. I am constantly flipping back and forth to check my work and see what the job site is really going to require to be built. Cons It is truly and fully involved solution, This should be a con but it integrates well with all other systems I use. There are two types of systems, easy to use and easy to learn. Agtek has a learning curve to it but when you make it over that hump, it will really shine for your organization. I have contacted customer support and our area rep numerous times and i always get a positive response. Pros ATEK is currently the top of its class for earthwork takeoff. Its potential seems to be limited by only the user that is working with the program. Cons I would like to see a better way to convert stone for pipe bedding. Currently we have to do it manually. If there is a way to have a conversion rate that works similar to the fill factor that would be very helpful. It was a struggle at first to get the correct workflow, tools, sequencing, etc. locked in, but once you do, it's a great tool. Pros The streamline workflow through Materials/Underground and its interface with the GradeWork programs. Cons The learning curve at the start is heavy. Little tools and functions that you pick up along the way that you wished you knew long before you discovered them. AGTEK is extremely versatile and allows you to use all available data to quickly get accurate, profit rich, competitive bids. Pros AGTEK Gradework is the very best software for Earthwork, Materials and Underground Utility Takeoffs in the world. I have built my entire business around Takeoffs, Modeling and training AGTEK users. It's ease of use allows me to get the average user doing takeoffs on their own within a couple of days. They average 8-minutes for a North American, industry expert to return support calls/emails and they have a massive library of how-to videos that get you moving forward 24-hours a day. They also offer regular webinars and in-person classes to help hone skills. Cons Cost - this is the most frequent complaint I hear by those who have not used it. Those who have used it may agree the it is a premium product at a premium price, but they still see the value and have grown their businesses using its powerful tools. AGTEK now has many options to help even the smallest customers scale up from basic to advance as they grow. Affordable scalability. Skid-steers are great tools, but you would do mass grading with one!
