I love this program. I have used this program from the hand pdf plan sheet digitizer board through importing the pdf file and tracing the pdf on the screen to getting and interfacing with CAD to the early days of generating usable GPS models to refining the process to where I am here today with Vallencourt Construction Inc. going from 230 employees when I started to over 800 now over the last 7 years, I see that jump in size only allowable due to the people I have trained in Agtek which makes that jump in personnel as well as the size of the projects feasible and sustainable. Pros Agtek is the most user friendly program available in my opinion. I have trained around 8-10 high level users and 2-5 average users in the last 7 years. The high level users are building GPS model quality design surfaces with linework. Cons I would like Agtek to have the ability to export the .dwg/.dxf files linework back out of Agtek with true arcs for the radii, Agtek will recognize those arcs and address them coming in and also even moves the line to where the true arc is if you insert a point (F6) on that line so within edit or entry mode as an Agtek annotation line the program recognizes those arcs. Recently an update to agtek produced a glitch that is resetting the strata bore hole to 1.00 from what it has been changed to for our "cut comp" our guys have caught it but that could be a real problem if it doesn't get caught by someone. Another thing I would like added is to separate the import mode into and "import PDF mode" and "import CAD" mode so when I insert another PDF I would not have to keep RE-importing and RE-cropping the CAD only to insert another pdf sheet in 10 minutes and wipe out the CAD file I had imported. I also have my guys that are producing volume reports that applying groups isn't advantageous because it loses subdividing the items within the groups together, essentially you lose your subtotals and your only subtotal on the report is the group itself. One more I have it for the image selection dialog box, I figured out how to re-establish the pathway to a pdf file but it would be better to have a more direct method for editing the pathway to the referenced file, this happens if the referenced file would get moved. Oh I would also like to see an improved ability to handle more complex CAD files specifically the ability to process 3D pipe networks and fittings, labels, and parcel lines for example. AGTEK has been great to work with and I always get an answer to my question. The sales team is responsive and the technological support has always had a timely response to my questions or pain points. Pros I love the integration of the Gradework/Earthwork portion of the program with the Underground portion of the program. This allows for a smoother user experience allowing the user to make changes on the earthwork side of the project and see how it directly impacts the utility design with a couple clicks of a button. I also love the Cons Although there are few dislikes...my main pain point is the lack of detail we can apply to strata layers. I would love to have more strata layers. We encounter 10+ soil scenarios on many of our projects and have to figure out the risk of not adding a layer because AGTEK caps that limit at 10 surfaces. I'd also love for the user to have the ability to enter moisture contents, blow counts, and possibly (not required) the liquid limit and plasticity index of soils when entering the strata layer information. These are million dollar decisions that we can make if we had this information available to the user. Gradework has become an essential tool for our business, and we couldn’t be happier with the results. Pros AGTEK's Gradework is incredibly intuitive and packed with features that make takeoffs, earthwork calculations, and grading plans faster and more accurate than other methods. I’ve significantly reduced the time spent on manual calculations, and the 3D modeling tools provide a clear visual representation of our projects, which helps us identify potential issues early on. The ability to integrate drone data has also been a huge plus, allowing us to streamline our workflows and improve overall efficiency. Gradework has truly helped us stay competitive in a demanding industry. Cons It took me some time to get fully comfortable with some of the features and workflows. It is a robust tool - so there is a little bit of a learning curve. Once I got the hang of it, it has become an invaluable part of our operations.
