I need to use Voice Recognition software for work because of increasing arthritis in my fingers and this program reduces the strain at a very affordable price. The other very positive aspect of the program is that access to the software developer is direct and responsive. This is cloud-based software so there's no need to be constantly updating the program. You're always working with the latest version! Pros What I like most about Speech Recognition Cloud is its simplicity. You open the software up, you click on a hotkey and your speech is recorded. You hit the hotkey and your speech is rapidly converted into text in whatever program you're working in. The voice and work recognition requires no training and I've found that the transcribing is extremely accurate. Cons The software conversion of speech to text is very fast so that you can rapidly get your words down on paper. I use it on many occasions to write first drafts of website text or emails and then it is a simple matter of cleaning the text up afterwards. The software punctuates the text as you go and that sometimes can be a little different from how I want the text to be punctuated but I'm sure this will improve over time. Beforehand, I used Dragon for well over 25 years, so I know a bit about speech recognition. I love being able to switch between languages (this used to take over a minute with Dragon, which was anyway limited to two) and I love the way SRC works so smoothly with other apps. Of course, accuracy is crucial in speech recognition, and SRC achieves extremely good results even with poor sound sources, e.g. inbuilt laptop microphones. I’ve also used it successfully to type up meetings involving non-native speakers whom I’ve found difficult to understand – SRC literally understood them better than I did! Pros Compared to other systems), Speech Recognition Cloud a) is far more accurate, b) launches far more quickly, c) works seamlessly with other software, d) comes with a huge variety of languages, e) allows users to switch between different languages instantly. I've talked quite quickly, it's understood everything I've said. It's even made the expected mistake that I, it probably thinks is not a mistake, it's the way it tries to interpret what I want. I'm sure if I talk to the developers, we'll find a way around this. So in summary, brilliant at taking passages of dictation and turning them into readable correct English. Easy to start and finish by using the middle wheel click button. It's tolerant of me not getting every sentence correct. It adjusts for my stammering, which happens at times. Pros The best part now is the ease of use. They have made it that it turns on and off speech recognition by using the middle mouse click, the wheel. This makes for very easy dictation on off.It is excellent at taking large paragraphs of dictation and converting them into sensible sentences. One of the features I like is that if you do make a stumbling mistake, it can identify it and usually what appears in the text is exactly what you're looking for. Cons The way it interprets small phrases and numerics, it gets long passages beautifully correct, but sometimes a shorter passage or just presiding numbers doesn't give me exactly what I want. For instance, I often use date stamps on the prefixes for folders and for files and I would start it with 2026-0828, file description.As you can see in this case, it's put a dash between the 6 and the 0. And often these characters that it adds aren't valid for folder or file names. Most voice recognition softwares show you what you've dictated soon after you've typed it, but with this you've got to click the middle mouse button or activate the stop dictation to have the characters appear. The upside of that is it gets it right so well that you begin to believe that what you're saying will actually get typed. Cons The customisation interface is a little bit clunky and the custom vocabulary is limited but neither is a major impediment. Highly accurate and works in any program in Windows. Literally anywhere you put a cursor, you just talk and the words appear accurately, fully formatted, and punctuated. Pros It's very inexpensive and highly accurate, also simple to use.I particularly like the fact that it does automatic punctuation and I no longer have to dictate punctuation like I did with Dragon. So it's much faster and easier. Cons I have to pay extra to get the medical ultra version. And it doesn't have any AI modes for medical use , but I understand that their focus is on privacy and security, so I get it. Otherwise, you've got to call their call centre which takes quite a bit of time. And I got sick of doing punctuation and SRC does punctuation automatically. Also, there's no dictation box with SRC.
