Origami

## What is Origami?

Origami is an AI-powered prospecting platform that finds ideal customers using real-time data sourcing. It searches Google Maps, state license registries, review platforms, and job boards to uncover businesses, owners, and buying signals. By accepting plain English descriptions of target customers, Origami delivers qualified prospect lists. It identifies businesses across markets and provides lead details like contact information, employee count, and service areas. Origami offers actionable insights such as new permits, recent hires, and review changes. Unlike static databases, its AI agents research multiple sources to locate local businesses often missed, including HVAC contractors, plumbers, and dentists. The platform also delivers owner-level contact data from sources like license databases and permit applications.

Origami genuinely changed how I approach prospecting. Before, I was stitching together Apollo, Clay, and a handful of other tools just to build a single list. Now I type what I'm looking for in plain English and have something usable in minutes. The thing that surprised me most was the coverage. I work in verticals where LinkedIn data is thin and Apollo comes up empty. Origami finds those companies anyway by pulling from Google Maps, permit databases, industry directories, and sources I didn't even know existed. That alone made it worth it. The accuracy is real too. I switched from Clay partly because the agent kept misidentifying companies. Origami gets it right consistently, which means I spend less time cleaning lists and more time actually reaching out. Is it perfect? No. I wish credit costs were more predictable upfront, and I sometimes find myself wanting deeper integrations so I don't have to export and re-import between tools. But these feel like early product problems, not fundamental ones. Overall it's the first prospecting tool I've used that actually feels like it was built for salespeople rather than data engineers. If you sell into any vertical that's hard to find on traditional databases, it's not really comparable to anything else out there.

Pros

What I liked most about Origami is how fast it gets you to results. The same search that takes about 10 clicks in Clay takes 2 in Origami. I described it to my cofounders as Clay but better, specifically because the agent is consistently accurate at identifying qualified leads where Clay frequently gets it wrong. What kept me coming back is that it finds businesses other tools simply miss. I use it specifically for hard-to-reach verticals like crypto, FX, and high-risk payments where Apollo and ZoomInfo return nothing. The live web scraping across Google Maps, permit databases, industry directories, and 50+ other sources surfaces companies that don't exist in any static database. The chat interface is what makes it click. Because it's pure chat, I'm not scared to ask super dynamic questions the way I would have to navigate Apollo's filter-based system. It produces less noise and requires far less data cleaning after export. The simplicity is real. No waterfall setups, no GTM engineer required. I was up and running on day one because anyone who has used a chatbot can use Origami. For the first time I can build my own lists without needing a separate data team or spending weeks learning a tool.

Cons

Honestly I wish I could see exactly how many credits something is going to cost before I commit to running it. Nothing worse than watching the agent do its thing for 3 minutes only to find out it cost me way more than expected. Let me make peace with the cost before it happens, not after. Other than that honestly? I kept finding myself wanting to just stay in Origami instead of exporting to another tool to do outreach. It does such a good job finding people that you get a little spoiled and don't want to leave.

Origami is just way better. The lead quality, the amount of leads, and the price.
