It took us a day to get the first connection running and reports generating. Not everything was perfect out of the box - we had a few questions along the way - but support was responsive. Now it's become our default recommendation when customers ask about data collection and reporting. The on-premises setup is also something customers in manufacturing and energy specifically ask for, so that works in our favor. Pros We've connected it to Siemens and Beckhoff systems without any major headaches. OPC UA works the way it's supposed to — you browse the server, pick your tags, and data starts coming in. The automated PDF reports have saved us real time on customer sites where they used to export Excel manually every week. The AI analysis was honestly a nice surprise — we didn't expect much from it but the anomaly detection has already flagged a couple of things worth investigating on one district heating site. We like the user interface, it's very easy to use. Cons Documentation is improving but still growing. No native mobile app, though the web interface is responsive on tablets. Alternatives considered [Ignition](https://www.capterra.com/p/200185/Ignition-SCADA/) Reasons for choosing DataPortia Ignition is a capable platform but the licensing model (per-server, annual maintenance) adds up quickly for smaller customer sites. It also requires significant configuration work and Ignition-specific expertise before you get anything useful running. DataPortia was up and collecting data in a day, pricing is a one-time perpetual license, and the local AI analytics is something Ignition simply doesn't include out of the box.
