We were looking for an easy-to-use patent management solution to handle our 48 patent families, comprising a total of 317 patents. Previously, we relied on an outdated database where patents were archived manually, and only two people had the knowledge and access required to manage it. With Patent-Cockpit, we found the ideal solution. After contacting the company, we were given trial access to the software and began evaluating it for our needs. The Patent-Cockpit team guided us through the process and provided an initial introduction, enabling us to properly test the system. We quickly found the software to be intuitive, user-friendly, and well structured. After conducting an internal test using real documents and data, we were convinced and decided to purchase it. Compared to other solutions we had considered, it was also very reasonably priced. Once again, we contacted the supplier to plan the migration of our existing patent data. We requested all relevant information from our patent attorney in Excel format. With support from the Patent-Cockpit team, this data was organized and prepared for upload. The import process worked seamlessly—the data was perfectly structured and immediately accessible. Throughout this process, the support from Patent-Cockpit was outstanding. After the data was uploaded, we were able to access each patent family and its associated patents. The remaining steps were to add an image of each invention and a short description. This was easily done by using external links to the European Patent Office (EPO). We copied suitable images from the documents and added them to the respective patent families. We also used AI to generate concise summaries of the claims, which we included as descriptions. The final step was to evaluate each patent in terms of its importance to the company. At that point, we had a complete, well-structured patent database. Another key requirement for us was the archiving of correspondence with our patent attorney. Here too, Patent-Cockpit proved highly effective: each patent family and individual patent has its own dedicated file structure, and the integrated task manager helps track deadlines and renewal dates. The entire system setup was completed by one person in a short time, as planned. Afterwards, the Patent-Cockpit team provided training for our selected employees, ensuring correct and efficient use of the software. The system works flawlessly for our company. I would recommend anyone interested in patent management software to take a closer look—it truly makes life easier. Pros The user interface is highly intuitive and visually clear, providing a comprehensive overview of the entire patent landscape. The software is very well structured and easy to use, with a clean and organized menu that offers immediate access to patents, trademarks, products linked to specific patents, task lists, and dedicated document folders for each individual patent. In addition, the dashboard opens with a range of useful statistical insights, including patent status, costs, tasks, and other key data. The patent search function is particularly impressive, enabling users to quickly locate information using a variety of search criteria. We also appreciated the document archive structure, which perfectly meets our needs—especially for storing correspondence with our patent attorney and other related documents that would otherwise lack a proper place. Another standout aspect is the direct, efficient, and highly supportive assistance we received during both the evaluation and implementation phases. Compared to other solutions we considered, Patent-Cockpit is very reasonably priced given the features and value it provides. After just two hours of training, our assigned employees were able to use the software confidently and to its full potential. Overall, it has been a valuable addition to our company and has made patent management both efficient and enjoyable. The interface is really user-friendly and well thought. It's really easy to filter and organize the data in a structured way, and you can extract information easily. You also have visual views and ways to navigate the patent portfolio, getting lost. Pros Patent cockpit has allowed us to have a structured overview of our patents, when before it was completely scattered across spreadsheets and folders in our OneDrive. I especially like the dashboards that allow us to clearly see the following points: - Geographical repartition - Type of patents according to the use cases that we have for them - Budget that we have for our entire portfolio The functionalities related to the renewal of patent is also quite handy, because then we can do it directly from there. Cons Honestly, not much. It has really helped the way that we are dealing with our IP in general. Maybe in the future they could integrate patent search etc as part of additional functionalities?
