We had an outstanding experience with IT Live Maps. As our organization evolved, we eventually moved toward more collaborative, self-service solutions, less architecture-team-dependent, but that evolution was only possible because IT Live Maps gave us the standardization and architecture maturity foundation to build on in the first place. I highly recommend it, especially for organizations starting their enterprise architecture journey from a complex or fragmented landscape.

Pros

IT Live Maps was remarkably easy to adopt, backed by outstanding, highly responsive support that truly understood our context. The tool struck the right balance between enforcing strong architecture standards and staying flexible enough to accommodate our company's specificities. We started from a very challenging position: a large, complex IT landscape (~600 applications, ~3,000 flows), historically fragmented across countries with duplicated capabilities and no formal architecture team in place. IT Live Maps and its team were instrumental in helping us mature rapidly. It gave us the visibility we needed to make architecture understandable to non-technical stakeholders, break down complexity by domain, and support ongoing projects with clear, structured views. Beyond visibility, it delivered concrete business value: relevant KPIs to justify ROI on key initiatives, feasibility studies, and invaluable support when building architecture business cases. As CPO, IT Live Maps was literally my second homepage :). It also became a key data source beyond architecture itself, feeding FinOps budget tracking per IT domain and supporting our CMDB. Overall, it allowed us to grow in maturity with real simplicity, despite the initial complexity and lack of maturity we started from.

Cons

The few limitations we encountered are really the flip side of its strengths. The simplicity and strong guided approach rely on a fairly centralized data and data-model update process, perfect for a transformation phase like ours, but potentially less suited to organizations with a smaller, more mature architecture team operating in a fully product-oriented setup (which, let's be honest, is still rare in practice). I also understand that more collaborative, self-service capabilities are already on the roadmap, so this gap is likely to close soon.

Good experience, with an integrated service offering provide entreprise value of adoption, data quality, and overall support of building valuable enterprise architecture asset for the organisation, not only for an architecture team.

Pros

Bringing the functional view to architecture inventory, ability to customize to own needs, able to incorporate data and other views inside the solution. Useful thematic maps, now integrated with project plan. Fast response time of UX.

Cons

User interface could be improved for browsing, ease data entry and collaboration so it ease adoption by teams, and also automation to check data versus technical assets inventory.
