### "Catia V5 feedback"

February 2, 2025

4.0

I really liked the tool, with a bit of preknowledge and time, you can handle the features that are interesting you and I was able quickly to do what I needed in different features but I quickly understood that I was using only 10% of the tool.

Pros

This is a really powerfull tool allowing to do almost everything that you want around the design in general. You can do all the steps from the design of a piece, through the 2Ds until the analysis of strength and movements.

Cons

This is a really difficult tool to understand the first time and every possibilities that is offering the tool is really difficult to handle, this is not a tool that can be implemented so easily. You need to put really important rules of use if you don't want a chaos in your utilization.

### "Recommended for creating models in motion or when working remotely."

April 16, 2023

4.0

In terms of user satisfaction, much focus was made on reducing the need for rendering and animation function characteristics. The mouse cursor is used as an extra visual reason, and each function will provide simple rendering results. Changing the drop-down menu creates a stunning aesthetic, and the set animations are customizable.

Pros

Although it does not have the same features as high-end applications such as CATIA, it can be handled and utilized on laptop computers without issue. When a remote connection is impossible, it might be used for model construction and drawing.

Cons

Even though it is used on the cloud, we use local storage as the primary operation due to security concerns. Loading of wishes and data format conversion should be replaced by local storage so that performance is inconsistent throughout the process to adapt to each company's changing security standards.

Alternatives considered

[SolidWorks Premium](https://www.capterra.com/p/93121/SolidWorks-Premium/)

Reason for choosing CATIA

Specialized effects and CG efficiency for 3D model creation and image/video production may be tested by the resolution. Simple rendering, in addition to feature-based solid modeling and a combination of surface modeling and sculpting, led to the functional points' challenges. Beautiful rendering function that can only be achieved by changing the fundamental texture and scenery.

[Autodesk Fusion](https://www.capterra.com/p/178416/Fusion-360/)

Because CAD could not be used remotely, I moved to Fusion 360 as soon as I began working remotely. Even though it is free to use, I created a stress-free sketch model, allowing me to reduce the time lost for structural inquiry, even though it is little.

In summary, Catia is the best software in CAD world for me. It allows user to design a part from basic level to upper advanced. That's why it's preferred in industry.

Pros

There a lot of things to emphasize. However to be more precise, I'm using for metal and plastic part design and it serves great. Generative sheet metal tool is very helpful and tools under this tab half the time while designing a metal part. In addition user stamping is a great way to design brackets amd evaluate producing process.

Cons

There are lots of tools I didn't feel so comfortable in the beginning about ease of use. But got used to it.

I use CATIA since 9 years and it help me everyday in my work

Pros

CATIA is the best CAD software ever, not the simplest but the most advanced one. The only limit of the software is your creativity. Clearly the shape design is the best tool box that you can have on it.

Cons

Maybe the only default is the complexity of the software. The interface is not user friendly.

### "Functional 3d CAD software"

March 25, 2022

As I mentioned that before, So useful and so complex software for new developed methods. But I think CATIA is the best CAD software for advanced engineering studies.

Pros

Development of some macros or addons are so useful for advanced functions. I am advanced user of VBA and CATIA. Combination of both removes all limits that what you can in CAD software.Logic of CATIA (Parameter based design) is another perfect function when we compare with competitors.

Cons

Hard to learn all details. For instance, I am approximately 12 years user of CATIA , instead of long time using, it was a lil bit hard to learn some function. Not easy to use due to functionality.

### "Great Software for 3D and 2D engineering design"

November 15, 2022

4.0

Pros

We created 3D models which needed to be used as the base file for a 3D printer. We were looking to create complex curves for our project which turned out to be surprisingly easy. One of the best features we came across is we could integrate it with our native 3D printer software and seamlessly convert files to the required format.

Cons

It has a bit of a learning curve given it offers so many customizations, you will have to put in the work you be well-versed in the software. Once you have a good grasp it becomes quite easy.

### "CATIA review by Quality Assurance Manager"

April 13, 2022

4.0

Designing the mechanical parts, Tools, meshing the tools, FEA analysis. Stress and Bending moment and shear force. It also helped me to stimulate how the product works in reality. The tool also has its limitations. Such as cloud integration, integrating with other software packages.

Pros

CATIA was one of the best tools that were available in the market for designing mechanical products. This application was a lifesaver. Compared to Auto CAD this application was very user-friendly and easy to navigate. The tool also has its limitations. Such as cloud integration, integrating with other software packages.

Cons

CATIA despite its best user interface and user-friendliness, the application can take a long time to load the content. The application also isn't very compatible with the other tools that are available in the market.

### "Great CAD application"

December 17, 2022

5.0

Despite being an experience CAD user, I faced some difficulties while using CATIA initially, but then after discovering its features and capabilities, I understood why it is considered one of the best out there. I definitely recommend it for CAD applications.

Pros

CATIA is without a doubt one of the most reliable and powerful CAD software available. Its features are countless and give the user maximum flexibility when designing a part, assembly, or a whole plant. CATIA is not only CAD software, but also helps with manufacturing tasks and creating processes for a given job.

Cons

The only downside of using CATIA is its very old user-interface. It is strange that Dassault has worked so hard to improve UI on SolidWorks yet barely did on CATIA. Experienced user might not find this an issues, but for someone switching from SolidWorks to CATIA, I definitely had a hard time adjusting.

### "Best designing softwear in my opinion"

November 30, 2020

5.0

I had the chance to learn how to use Catia during my training in Mechanical and Production Engineering in Nantes, France. First on the v5 version then on the v6 (3D experience). I had the opportunity to test different modules for CAD, CAM, etc... I had the opportunity to work in depth on a digital twins project that I think could be a very important technique in the future and it works well with Catia v6.

Pros

One of the points that I find most interesting about Catia is the variety of these modules (Part design, Assembly design, etc.). Indeed, Catia’s strong point, in my opinion, is the link that can be made between modules; we will be able to create parts, assemblies, test them in a virtual model, do computer-assisted manufacturing, etc. Moreover, he was able to test the new 3D Experience software which works thanks to a database and thus allows collaborative work. The future of CAD software in my opinion, all simply.

Cons

The handling is a bit complex at the beginning, especially compared to what is done in the competition, however this can be relativized by the fact that the modules offered are very consistent between them.

Very easy, and very usefull to my project. The multiplicity of tools allows me to be very efficient.

Pros

The facility to master tools was very impressive. I have already mastered Solidworks, so I learned very quick how to use CATIA

Cons

the difficulty to pass files to another version, or another software. Indeed, I needed to convert my CAD files done thanks to CATIA to use them under ANSYS.

### "A bit of a learning curve, but full of features."

May 30, 2018

5.0

I loved the challenge of learning this software. It was different than most other services, but still very capable. I would recommend this to people who are very familiar with CAD software already as I don't think this is for beginners. Especially if you plan on using other software later on.

Pros

This software can do most anything you need it to. From solid body modeling and drawings, to surface modeling and more.

Cons

The terminology is different than most other CAD services. This takes a while to get used to. Although, if you get used to the pictures or short cut keys, this won't be too much of a problem.

### "A widely renowned computer-aided design software."

August 21, 2023

4.0

CATIA is not the software that I strongly appreciated compared to SolidWorks, which I really liked and find much more suitable for my current work.

Pros

What I really love about CATIA is its ability to handle complex three-dimensional models and seamlessly manage the entire design process from conceptualization to manufacturing. CATIA greatly assists me in my mechanical designs and to some extent in electrical designs as well.

Cons

I used CATIA for less than 6 months, and then I switched to SolidWorks because it is the software that best suits my needs in mechanical design.
