We brought in Zero Assist to close a gap that had been nagging at us for a while — remote technical interviews were essentially running on trust, with no reliable way to know if a candidate was using Parakeet , Clulely , a second screen, or a VM to fake their way through a live assessment. Setup was straightforward: the agent installs silently on the candidate's machine and doesn't interrupt the interview with pop-ups or prompts, which matters a lot for keeping the experience natural on the candidate's side. Where it's paid off most is the live dashboard — being able to watch an integrity score and active process list update in real time during the interview means we're not relying on an interviewer's gut feeling or reviewing footage after the fact. The Greenhouse integration has also quietly saved recruiting a lot of manual work, since agent links now go out automatically per interview round instead of someone having to remember to send them. It's not without rough edges — agent coverage stops at Windows and Mac, so we still handle Linux/Chromebook candidates manually, and the audit reports could use more customization for how compliance data gets presented. But those are refinements, not blockers. Overall, it's done exactly what we needed it to do: give us confidence in remote technical interviews without adding friction for candidates, and we'd recommend it to any team hiring engineers remotely

Pros

The silent forensic agent is the standout feature — it detects screen overlays, virtual machines, and background AI tools like Parakeet or Cluley without a single pop-up or interruption for the candidate, so the interview stays natural while we still get full visibility. The live interviewer dashboard is genuinely useful in real time, not just after the fact: we can watch the integrity score and active process list update over the session instead of waiting for a post-interview report to catch a problem. When we do need the historical view, the compiled audit report is ready-made for compliance review. The Greenhouse integration also removes a lot of manual coordination — candidates get their agent link automatically per interview round, so recruiting isn't chasing that down for every stage.

Cons

Platform coverage is the biggest limitation right now — the desktop agent only supports Windows and Mac, so candidates on Linux or Chromebooks aren't automatically covered and need a manual workaround. ATS support is also uneven: Greenhouse is deeply integrated and works end-to-end, but if you run other ATS platforms, the connection options are more limited by comparison. Reporting is solid for compliance purposes but could use more customization — we'd like more control over what gets included in the post-session audit report without having to dig through raw data ourselves. None of these are dealbreakers, but they're the areas where we'd most like to see investment next.
