Blur Data is, without question, the best redaction software I have used. I am a physician and I use it extensively for medical chart review. I have tried essentially every major alternative, including Adobe, UPDF, Foxit, and PDFpen. Blur Data is now head and shoulders above all of them for fast, accurate, practical document redaction. The developer, \[sensitive content hidden\], has also been outstanding. He is exceptionally responsive to emails and genuinely listens to users. I recently asked whether Blur Data could support batch redaction of entire folders of files. \[sensitive content hidden\] implemented the feature brilliantly in a new release, and it has completely transformed my workflow. The software is fast, intuitive, and remarkably effective, and the level of developer support is exceptional. Outstanding product. Outstanding developer. Highly recommended. Pros What I like most is how comprehensively Blur Data handles the types of sensitive information commonly found in medical charts. With essentially one click, I can redact names, dates of birth, Social Security numbers, addresses, telephone numbers, medical record numbers, and other identifying information across documents that may be tens or even hundreds of pages long. I have used other redaction software that struggles to identify these elements consistently. Blur Data does an exceptional job, particularly in automatically recognizing formatting patterns such as Social Security numbers, phone numbers, addresses, and strings of numbers that are likely to represent medical record numbers. The ability to specify custom text for redaction is also critical for medical chart review and makes the software extremely flexible. The combination of automatic pattern recognition and custom redaction is brilliantly implemented and is the primary reason I prefer it over every other redaction tool I have used. Cons The only con I previously had was the lack of batch processing for entire folders. That has now been completely addressed in the latest version. At this point, I genuinely do not have any cons to report.
