Overall, Neon has been a really valuable tool for our organization. It’s helped us stay organized, track our donors and volunteers better, and manage the details that used to get lost. It’s not perfect, but it’s been a game changer for keeping us connected to the people who make our mission possible.

Pros

I like that Neon CRM keeps everything in one place — donors, volunteers, events, and communications. It makes it easier to see the bigger picture of our nonprofit and how people are engaging. The reporting tools and integrations have been really helpful as we’ve grown.

Cons

It can be a little overwhelming at first, and some things take more clicks than I’d like. Reports and customization aren’t always straightforward, and it takes some time to learn.

It has been to easy to work with. They have been very responsive when I have asked for help. I am not great with technology so it is hard to point a finger.

Pros

I love the ease of the fundraising support and the email campaigns. Everyone that I have interacted with has been very helpful from building our website to creating a fundraiser.

Cons

That is a hard question because I am not sure if something is hard to use or if I am not understanding how to do a specific task.

Onboarding - so much training on what was going to happen and needed but then it didn't seem to work that way, so there's a lot of work to do.

Overall, our experience with Neon CRM has been great. We are happy with the platform and the capabilities that it provides.

Pros

Neon CRM is very user-friendly. It has an intuitive interface that makes it easy for staff members to navigate without needing extensive training. This helps prevent data entry errors. I also like how Neon provides monthly webinars on product releases and updates to their platform. These webinars help us stay informed about new features, improvements, and best practices. It also shows that Neon is continuously improving its service and offerings. And finally, I like how Neon allows you to record not only donations, but store orders and grants. It makes managing these areas much more efficient and centralized.

Cons

I don't love Neon's donation forms because I wish they were more customizable. I also wish there were more customization options available for emails sent directly from the platform. While there are customization options available, I feel like both areas would benefit from more options.

Customer service has really imporovced lately, which is a huge help. Neon is reliable and easy to use.

Pros

It is easy to use and provides great bang for the buck. The customer service is great. Neon One Academy is so useful that you can teach yourself about anything you need to accomplish within the platform.

Cons

Ocassionally the reports or other functionality is limited, but I also understand that it works well for our size and budget.

I have had a great experience with neon from day one. They have been helpful to answer any questions and even provide learning sessions for one on one help.

Pros

The multiple communication tools in one program for various reasons from individual emails and text, to collecting donations.

Cons

Some of the great features, like the email templates, are hard to use, and the templates are lacking creativity.

Pros

It was easy to integrate with my excel spreadsheets. Uploading client data was easy. I was able to transition over to a new CRM effortlessly.

It doesn't work with my email (Google). I have to manually enter email conversations out side the platform.

### "Good, Improving Platform! "

Neon is a very good and useful CRM for all of the use cases our non-profit needs, it's unusual to get a system that manages memberships, events, fundraising, email campaigns etc. all in one place. It's quite easy to use and intuitive, apart from certain reporting challenges and clunkiness when setting up automations and workflows.

Pros

Neon is great for being able to manage all of our different use cases, including events, memberships, report building, etc. The customer service team is great and are very quick to respond when I have questions or need help with building on certain parts of our CRM. There has been a large number of updates recently and I feel that Neon are really working on improving any pain points. It's only getting better to use it. It's also very useful for managing, tracking and reporting on donor management, fundraising events and through direct campaigns or peer to peer on Neon Fundraise.

Cons

There are lots of steps which need to be completed for setting up things like events and emails, but they're not intuitive or located in the same place. E.g, sending out an event confirmation email for example requires you to set up an email in a completely different part of the system. I would also appreciate better capabilities for building live dashboards within the system and a way to build my reporting needs into the system.

### "Love NeonCRM!"

Overall? Positive. The customer support has been excellent. I would say that 90% of what we were were promised by sales is true, and we have talked about looking for another CRM because of the duplicate accounts issue, but always decide not to because Neon shines in so many other categories.

Pros

I have been using Neon since late 2019 for our 501(c)(6) small national organization. The implementation process was excellent, and I felt like our rep was responsive and knowledgeable. Additionally, when we have had issues or questions, either our rep or the ticketing system has always been there! My absolute favorite feature is the robust reporting. You can build your own reports, including MANY parameters to search by and which data are included in the output. You can save reports and schedule them to be delivered to you or someone else. You can publish them (password protected or not) to a URL, which has allowed me to build custom reports for different committees, then give them access to the reports, so I don't have to pull the report, download it, then email it to the committee chairs every time they'd like to check in on how their committee is doing. Huge time saver! The other huge time saver is Workflows. I mean, WOW. We use these automations to approve or deny membership applications, assign regions, and send automated new member notifications to those who need to know. The event registration feature has been very helpful, we love the Account Notes feature, and it's been amazing to send out a survey whose responses fill members' profiles!

Cons

We're having some trouble with "duplicate accounts," as a Company account and an Individual account is created for every member. This causes difficulty for the members (when they login to the "wrong" account, they do not have an active membership), as well as obfuscating how long someone has been a member, as they might renew on the Individual account one year and the Company account the next, so complete membership records are divided between two accounts. We have determined most of the problem, but part of it is that the renewal funnel is confusing to members, so they will add themselves as a sub-member, which creates the duplicate Individual account. You cannot (1) send invoices for members to pay within NeonCRM, so we are using a 3rd-party solution for that. Nor can you (2) make a credit card surcharge mandatory. It's just not an option. We also wish we could (3) use the new events module, but we are "stuck" on the "legacy events" because it makes zero fiscal sense for us to switch to NeonPay (WAY more expensive than our current processor, even if without surcharging), but I feel like we are missing out on features and that Neon is trying to strong-arm or nickle-and-dime ($199 monthly 3rd-party processor fee) us into switching to NeonPay. It's childish.

The people who work there have been very helpful and the cost was comparable to the other program we were using. It offers so much more that I feel we came out ahead.

Pros

So far the customer support and flexibility to build the exact product that we need have been fantastic. The value for the money is also good, after the base price they let you build a product that works for what you need. The donor management has been far superior to what were using. So many options to track and I love that you can also tract Unrestricted and Restricted grants. The User interface can be confusing but they have a large database filled with video and written instructions. It takes a while to learn the program but the options for tracking and developing reports to give you what you need are endless.

Cons

There isn't much I didn't like, the fact that it can track so much information and do so much with your donor database make it more difficult to use. However, it is worth the time and training because it offers so much in return

Extremely positive. The CRM academy is excellent, so is the capability of the system. We were able to accomplish all of our goals and then some when we invested in this system. We could not be happier.

Pros

Neon CRM has a robust capability, which streamlined our membership management and fundraising. The Neon One academy teaches you everything you need to know and was excellent getting us set up and ready to go.

Cons

The Neon One CRM has a learning curve and is best suited for users with some familiarity with CRM. I had to spend a lot of time initially in the Neon One Academy.

So far I have to say our experience has been really good. We get good support, they listen to what you need and make modifications, and they offer good training.

Pros

Neon CRM has it all. You can easily collect and query data across so many channels - events, donations, volunteers, newsletters, text, and more!

Cons

The payment/where the $$ came from reporting is not as customizable as you might like, but they do offer a lot of canned reports.

I work on the development team of a midsize non-profit in New Orleans. We have about 500 donors in our data base and host an annual fundraising event that grosses about 250,000 annually. I manage the CRM, send thank you letters, input gifts, pull reports, and help create donor engagement plans.

Pros

Neon's CRM reporting capacity is pretty easy to use and quick to learn, which makes switching CRM systems fairly simple. I also love their marketing tools. Being able to send out emails, and mail merge and print thank you letters allows me to spend more time on higher level thinking. I also love their workflows. it decreases the amount of time I must spend ideally "checking" for new gifts, overdue pledges, new users adding themselves into the CRM system, ect. The integration with Constant Contact has also allowed us to work closely with the communications team to routinely update list which is very useful.

Cons

It is a bit limited on the reporting front, but does have a number of reports that are built into the system designed to assist with combating these limitations, but with simplicity often comes a number of functionality trade-offs. They also have a number of other features, such as events, grant recording ect. but they do not integrate as well as they could with the financial side of the system. They also do not have an integration with the auction system that my non-profit currently uses. We were told we could conduct a batch transfer that would easily upload gift data in bulk, but we later found out after signing up for Neon that if guest used a different email for the auction or if we did not manually input neon's ID into the spreadsheet guest profiles could be duplicated.

Overall, I had a wonderful trainer, Geri, who walked me through the process very patiently. The support time is amazing and very helpful. The program is very user friendly with lots of opportunity.

Pros

I appreciate having all of the donor data in one place with the ability to send letters, emails, create campaigns and manage events.

Cons

The unknown, I still have some aspects to learn that we do not utilize yet. There is always something new for me to learn and I simply need time to take it all in and practice.

Cons

The query/build a report is challanging. The Greater than but + or less than is hard. Sometimes you just want a basic search. I would really like viedo demo trainings. I am neurodivergent and I do not follow the written instructions well.

I use NEON daily. It has been a key tool in helping us manage our donors and provide clear data that allows us to make better decisions.

Pros

NEON has been great in allowing us to manage both large donors and smaller gifts. We can seamlessly sync our data with other platforms such as Constant Contact and Double the Donation, as well as our NEON-based website and donation pages. Finally, the customer service is outstanding. It's quick with clear guidance.

Cons

Maybe there are too many options. It took a while, with the help of customer service, to identify which options are best for our Foundation and how to use them effectively.

My background is in technology and the entrance to using Neon One was fairly simple. They have good educational learning, and I like the features of events and an online storefront.

Pros

Neon One is a good product for a one-stop-shop. The feature that we use often is event management and the online shopping for members. These are two features that you don't usually find in other software platforms.

Cons

They have few resources for educational systems and managing alumni. You have to use another software to find alumni and then ask them to join the Neon One CRM database, a bit clunky.

This is my 9th year working with Neon CRM (ArtsPeople) and I can only give glowing reviews. In fact, when I talk to colleagues running similar organizations and hear them talk about challenges of having ticketing in one place and donations on another system, I right away encourage them to look into Neon CRM.

Pros

The Neon CRM makes my life easier and saves so much time. Having all data (ticketing & donation) in a one place where data can be pulled out in any combination for review and planning makes running my arts organization more effective and efficient. The customer support is outstanding and my issues are typically solved within a couple of hours.

Cons

My development colleague would like a coding system for the donors. Our organization is small so not having it isn't a huge hinderance.

### "Neon User for a decade+"

It is good, we appreciate that Neon adds new experiences and systems each year. There are a lot of options, so we can do what we want with fundraising campaigns, volunteer events, or emails.

Pros

I like the easy to use interface and how different parts of the platform talk to each other. We use it for events and for donor database. It is also easy to pull reports for our board.

Cons

Duplicates is always an issue with CRMs, but the merge feature is easy to use on Neon. I just have to do it throughout the year since donors can make their own profiles.

Overall, the platform is great! Any time I need to communicate with the service team, they are always very helpful and knowledgeable. Would definitely recommend their platform.

Pros

I like the security, customer support, and donor management the most! Both are very helpful and allow for easier maintenance for the organization.

Cons

Limited accessibility for our current sponsorship and membership programs. This would allow for a much smoother management for these two programs.

Overall experience with Neon CRM is great. We use it regularly for grant tracking, reporting, philanthropic support tracking, donor management, donation tracking, giving campaigns and special events.

Pros

I appreciate the monthly webinars on the latest updates. I like the ease and user-friendliness of Neon CRM and Neon Pay.

Cons

The only cons would be that sometimes it can take longer to find tutorials within the Neon One Academy, especially when you're searching for one particular insight into using the CRM database.

There was an easy way to do peer to peer fundraising and messaging. Additionally it was a relatively inexpensive way to host a CRM.

Cons

It was very clunky in its set up and usage. It was difficult to pull reports and utilize those for fundraising means.

Pros

Complete donor management all under one platform. Campaign set up is quick and simple. Peer-to-peer campaigning is great!

Cons

The User Interface is not the "prettiest," and events could use some additional features, but that's really it.
