Pros

The ability to submit a Spiceworks ticket from my desktop for IT issues is convenient and easy to use.

Cons

If the IT issue I'm having has to do with signing in on my desktop, I'm unable to submit a ticket and have to find a co-worker to log the ticket for me

We used to have manual records of our IT inventory, but with the introduction of Spiceworks we are now computerised.

Pros

As a Systems Admin I have become friends with Spiceworks IT Help Desk because makes my job easier. It made it possible for my company to a have all IT assets recorded. Each asset for example a laptop is recorded with all it's specifications like RAM size, HDD size, OS etc

Cons

No System Admin will hate this software.

Pros

I believe is the Best free IT Help Desk software available. It has alot of the features you usually only get with the paid versions of other helpdesk apps. They also have a large forum of IT pros that can and do help with any questions you may have on any IT issue.

Cons

I can't really complain about a free software that does the stuff you normally have to pay for.

Easy network monitoring. I installed on a machine and had it ping an outside address to test for internet connectivity. If the connection was down, it emailed me (when the internet came back up).

Pros

It is easy to use. Simple interface. I have used it both at work at home to troubleshoot an internet connection.

Cons

The software does what it is supposed to do. Basic network monitoring and that's it. My least favorite part of this software is that it is "heavy". For what it does, the download is large and requires some processing power on the host computer.

Pros

IT Help Desk is completely FREE. It has lots of very nice features. It has free support. It has email integration. It has a client web portal. Can integrate with other applications via API.

Cons

IT Help Desk is lacking some of the features that come with paid brands like the ability to schedule tickets on a calendar. Lots of adverts.

Very short learning curve. Customization via plugins. Decent reporting features. Onprem option.

Cons

The network scanner cannot be disabled, not able to make certain changes while it is running. Scanner does not stay off when you manually turn it off.

Spiceworks provides a valuable way to keep track of tasks and to provide a system of accountability for employers. The interface of the platform creates a few issues. The size of the font in tickets is too small, it makes it difficult to work from it on a daily basis. Also, there are a few glitches with how information is displayed when the screen is enlarged. It's difficult to see the last ticket as it is often hidden under the field where you view information. When you link tickets to a group email, it doesn't always show who the ticket is from...instead, it lists the ticket as coming from the group email...which makes it difficult to follow up on issues.

Cons

Third-party integration is not widely available. Not as customizable or brand-able. Add-ins not being supported.

Cons

Doesn't scale well when you increase the number of users, it slows to a crawl and then can crash a lot. Uses a noSQL database so that is the bottleneck

It was incredibly easy to set up, and is fantastic for a growing company that needs to formalize help desk ops quickly.

Pros

I like that we were able to go from no formalized help desk software to a ticketed, manageable system in essentially days. Set up was simple, and our company has benefited greatly.

Cons

I think it's a bit clunky. Meaning that it lacks some versatility in the UI. Users in 2018 are accustomed to a slicker look and feel, and more automated options. I think that future releases could up the game, so to speak.

Highly recommend Spiceworks Helpdesk, great product with my kind of price - FREE!!

Pros

Free is Free, so what can I say, it can also record and create an inventory of all items on your network. Fantastic saving that allows you to move helpdesk budget elsewhere.

Cons

Only downside with free is the ads and also the emails that you get trying to sell you stuff, but as long as you use a spare email address for it. None of this should be an issue.

For a free tool, you really can't go wrong with setting this up. Ease of set up is what makes it even better!

Pros

Free! It was free to deploy so I enjoyed that. It was not overly difficult to deploy and we got a ticket system working with minimal effort. Now users can submit tickets and we can easily trace back to history of tickets. Keep track of who is doing what. We have tried the asset management and it was a ok at best.

Cons

The network asset management is not a great tool. It does scan all devices but having so many in our organization just made it a nightmare to try to set up. Integration with our ERP is an issue we can't seem to solve so we gave up on it.

Great for medium and small businesses. The resources available through Spiceworks makes it well worth the cost of admission.

Pros

From the download to the end of the install, Spiceworks is very easy to set up. It is easy to mange, you don't need a network admin. It is easy to use, you don't have to be in IT.

Cons

While Spiceworks is very easy to use it is not designed for a large businesses. Some patches force you to reset views (No big deal)

Pros

I like the ability to easily 'merge' related issues. This comes in handy often in our organization--multiple users of our electronic health record often are responsible for various parts of a process. As a result, issues arise and are communicated from multiple users. Being able to see the pattern and 'combine' the issues into one is incredibly helpful for efficient management and addressing of issues. Additionally, the ability to 'categorize' issues and 'assign' to different users is great.

Cons

The user interface is not the most aesthetically pleasing.

The biggest advantage to me about Spiceworks is that for a small company with not many resources or money to spend on expensive products this is a great way to keep organize.

Pros

The thing I like the most about this software is that is free, the system is very handy for using to remember task or just keeping a knowledge base for issues you have resolved. It is also very easy to communicate to end users updates on the work that is being done.

Cons

There is not much to not like about a free product like this one, but one suggestion would be for you to be able to change the layout of the tickets.

Pros

I like how I can put due dates on open tickets so I can keep tabs on tasks and when they need to be completed.

Cons

We receive an email when a new ticket has been created or a team member has replied to it. I've run into issues where when I reply to the ticket via email, it doesn't update the ticket in Spiceworks. It doesn't happen all the time, but it's definitely frustrating when it happens.

Once a request form is created, it is hard to modify. You can add and subtract fields, but not rearrange them.

I learned how to install and configure software using Spiceworks. From there, I can now keep an eye on my network anywhere I am (as long as I have my phone).

Pros

The price of course would be the first thing I like, but this software is very feature- regardless of the price. I use this on our home network, it monitors my desktop (gaming PC), two laptops, 4 tablets, a smartv, and a bitcoin mining rig. I can monitor everything on my phone because it automatically sends emails if there are any issues.

Cons

It is very hard to learn. My dad is a SysAdmin, and he MADE me learn to set up Spiceworks and use it, and I am thankful he did because it got me interested in Networking and taught me to configure software to meet my needs.

Pros

Spiceworks is great for getting to know other IT professionals. I used their platform for help desk and system monitoring. I really like their involvement in the IT community.

Cons

Creating tickets and managing them felt bare bones compared to other IT help desks and system monitoring outlets. Spiceworks keeps ads on their site and at times it would be hard to distinguish their professional side from their easy going attitude. We ended up switching services due to much more robust platforms because we couldn't handle our billing, passwords, systems, and Help Desk within Spiceworks.

Definitely start here if you're looking for helpdesk software.

Pros

Spiceworks has allowed us to maintain a filing system solely for IT needs. With a high influx of IT requests, concerns, software updates, and ideas for improvement from over 20 sales guys around the U.S. an automatic filing system has allowed our busy Systems Department to get to urgent request immediately, while answering minor emails in a timely fashion.

Cons

The mobile app has a latency that doesn't seem to improve with updates. Not sure why since it's cloud based, then again it's also free.
