I'm not a developer and I managed to set it up and use for the needs of my company. Bots requires some effort to learn it, as EDI in general is not simple, but later it allows to setup quickly EDI translations, maintain them at scale and also manage very complex scenarios, which would be difficult with other tools. Pros Flexibility, good documentation, very good community support (mailing list), commercial support also available by several parties. Mapping as a (Python) code (versioning!). Ready definitions of the most popular EDI documents (EDIFACT, X12). Cons As many underlines: the learning curve is steep, but starting from the example plugins helps a lot. It is easy get lost with the number of forks of the project - be sure reading about the available versions on bots-edi.org. I now have multiple instances running and processing tens of thousands of documents per day. Pros It can translate anything to anything. It can easily be extended with your own scripting to do very complex tasks. Cons Fairly steep learning curve, it's not really an end-user tool, requires some programming knowledge to get the best out of it. (Actually that's not something I dislike, but others may dislike). The current version is stable but getting a bit old now, Python 3 version is not released yet.
