Pros The Outsystems platform allows you to build from scratch any software. With numerous built-in functions, it allows you to build a simple form page in less than 5 minutes. It's really simple and intuitive to use. No more delays in delivering software. Cons Some of the features aren't very flexible and there's always the need to use some javascript functions to built more complex pages. Still needs to mature a little bit in the next releases. Pros What I like most about OutSystems is the ease of use. Having no former IT experience, OutSystems allowed me to develop valuable features for our new system within mere weeks. Thanks to being low-code, OutSystems makes me feel like a real application engineer. Cons Likely because I have no former experience with any kind of IT software, I sometimes don't know what tool to use; there's so many of them! Defects and changes can be done quickly. The user interface is great and give a lot of opportunities. It is a great tool to examine for further developments Pros Able to create user friendly web applications, being able to minimize the user interaction to achieve a specific goal. An action in our legacy system using 14 clicks we could reduce to 3 clicks. Also the easy upload of documents, pictures is real advantage. By introducing a web application we were abbe to reduce the time to complete processes with more as 50% In our mobile app we had difficulties to synchronize with our database. It took only few day to completely change the architecture. Cons The accessibility of the database itself. In numbered cases we need to intervene due to defects. Need to do real effort to access the data. Outsystems is a great development tool; but the design of the requirements and the data model still need good thinking and is a basis for the discuss. September 26, 2018 5.0 We got the platform to address smaller, niche applications that wouldn't normally bubble up to the top of the priority list to warrant assigning valuable resources. Outsystems allows us to build full-featured apps for those stakeholders quickly without tying up developers for months at a time. Pros The scaffolding features create standard screens very quickly that are already bound to data entities. The list/detail screen paradigm fits a number of use cases, allowing us to build very functional apps literally in minutes. Cons Deployment through Lifetime feels like it could be improved. Version tagging is an optional step and we've had several people deploy without it. But, we have been able to clean that up fairly quickly. Cons The level of training and information for people with some knowledge is weak. They are either very confusing documents, or it is all very vague. Its been simple to setup, and so far it has been easy to work with. Adding API's has been simple and integrating my colleagues ever changing requirements has been fast and simple. Pros Easy to use - Its really simple to do pretty much anything on the platform. connect an API? Easy as adding the endpoint. Enforcing types on input data? Done. Plus, as a developer, I really live extensibility and like that outsystems lives by its "No limits"saying. If the software doesn't do what I expect it to do OOB then I will make it do that, because I can. I have seen a few platforms (not necessarily low-code) before seeing Outsystems that didn't even offer basic extensibility. Cons As a web developer, I care alot about what the source looks like as aswell as anything the end user sees. I feel that the HTML source generated is messy however this seems to be improved in later versions of the software. I also feel the way some of the components work could be improved.
