Pros: I liked everything about this software! It was truly an all-in-one deal. First of all, it integrated with our CRM (we used SugarCRM). The features related to this integration were: lead generation from our web forms, lead generation from our email campaigns, lead generation based on user action. It also pulled information in from our CRM, so any lead lists we created in our CRM (manually or automatically based on file status, etc) could be pulled into ActOn for campaigns.

Next, it integrated with our website - it also has the ability to design your own website within ActOn that allows for even more neat features. It tracked users across emails & webpages and the reports allowed us to drill down to specific geographical areas of activity, key words used, which pages they were on and for how long, etc. It also gave a numerical value (that you can custom set) to each action and at a certain point could put that contact into a sales cycle or send an alert to the sales team to reach out to them.
Lastly, the automated marketing feature was THE BEST. You have the ability to design a multi-faceted campaign that could run for a set amount of time, or indefinitely. What I found to be the cherry on top was that you could set actions for contacts who didn't do certain things (didn't click, didn't open, etc) and then repeat steps or put them into different tracks.
As huge as this program seems, it was also incredibly easy to navigate. Saved our teams a lot of time and energy.

Cons: The most challenging features were the design elements. It was very template based and it took some CSS or HTML skills to make them less-standard. This was true for everything - emails, web pages, landing pages, etc.

Overall: My sales and marketing team had so many benefits from this software. The marketing and data analysts had high-level, quality reports that were as detailed or as broad as they wanted. The sales team had live information about their hottest leads and could rely on the lead-generation process to do things automatically. They didn't have to worry about information not being part of the CRM from Marketing because the integration made that seamless. Truly a great program and I didn't even have enough characters to talk about all of the other features too!

Pros: Act-On is a robust, yet easy-to-use solution that combines multiple marketing applications into one. It has been a workhorse for us. While it can serve more than a dozen vital functions, including social media management and ABM, I most appreciate its integration with our CRM system (Microsoft Dynamics 365) and how it can be used to automate nurture programs, score leads based on behavior/engagement, and monitor web site visitor activity. I¿m also very impressed by members of the tech support team who are very patient and have bailed us out of an after hours pinch more than once.

Cons: Keeping up with the constant evolution of Act-On is a full-time job. I often feel like we¿re 5 steps behind in understanding newly released features and everything it can do. Of course, that¿s a good problem. My only true critique is that the organization seems to have gone through some growing pains and lost its personal touch along the way. When I first selected and implemented Act-On at my previous company 4 years ago, I felt like our sales rep and implementation team were truly invested in our success. I was so impressed by the product and Act-On¿s customer success team that I implemented it again at my next company and recommended it to several peers. However, faces began to change quickly, and we had 3 different reps in the same year. Our new contacts were less interested in our success and more interested in what we could do for them. One became obsessed with recruiting our company as a reseller. Things have settled down, but I don¿t feel like they value our business as much as they once did.

Pros: Sincerely easier to use than others on the market, great overall feature set, love the dynamic content options, program templates were a game changer, account-based marketing provides visibility into how programs are doing at the Account-level that we haven't had.

Cons: The UI is slowly being overhauled but I'd like to see this go faster. Their out-of-box reports aren't great, but I haven't run across a marketing automation platform who has great reporting (I do like Marketo's Opportunity Analyzer report) and we use Data Studio to simply pull data out the way we want it to populate our reports in excel or Tableau

Overall: I started out using Marketo years ago and while I was a power user and loved the depth of features, others in the company found it to be complex and most could use it for only the basics.

I moved on to Pardot and I really liked it, and I even attended their user conference three years ago in Atlanta - which unfortunately, was when they pass along the news to customer that they have been acquired and would end up Salesforce's portfolio. Pardot was moved into their Sales Cloud (and ExactTarget went to the Marketing Cloud), and the result has been, other than some UI improvements, almost no innovation at all... and a major rise in costs, where it's extra for phone support, they charge for Salesforce Engage, they charge for Wave Analytics, etc. etc.

Meanwhile, Act-On has been the steady player in the market that has continued to advance - and you see that in Forrester's Q4 2014 Wave report where Act-On moved to the upper, Leader quadrant ahead of Pardot and HubSpot (though, I'd say that HubSpot has always been more "Movement-First" versus "Product-First" where they invest more in their marketing then their marketing features, particularly with their focus on their CRM now).

Act-On received a large round of investment money, brought in loads of new talent on the executive team and down, and continue to push out new features faster than others on the market. They were first to launch Account-based Marketing, their Social tools are very advanced (Forrester scored them higher than HubSpot for example), built Data Studio that allows us to push to our BI easily (Tableau), they overhauled all of their composers (email, landing page and forms), added dynamic content & personalization features, and added a unique way to create Program Templates that is awesome and now have a growing library of templates you can grab and use that build out all the nurture program steps for you automatically (including sales alerts, CRM campaign updates, basic or advanced if/then scenarios, etc.).

I've always thought that price should not be a big driving factor for which tool to use. But, their Active Contacts model allows you to pay for what you use, versus the size of your database - and where Marketo and Pardot are adding more modules, Act-On includes everything in their Enterprise edition. And their Support is also fantastic.

Don't be fooled. This is an advanced tool that medium and large companies are using.

Recommendations to other buyers: Forrester called it the best value on the market in their Q4 2016 Wave report. If you want a feature-rich platform that your whole team can use, Act-On is the best tool on the market, particularly for medium sized companies.

Pros: We just started using Act-On a few months ago. We had debated marketing automation companies to go with for years. Overall, Act-On was able to go toe-to-toe in most regards with the other vendors we were considering, at least. The deciding factor was the pricing model, which is a bit unusual. They only charge you for "active" contacts, which are contacts you are actually reaching out to. You can import other contacts for reporting, data synchronization, or potential marketing purposes down the line if you wish, and you won't be charged for them. The support team at Act-On is great. During our evaluation, I received an email from the CEO himself, asking what he could do to help us choose. Throughout implementation, we had several calls and I was always provided what we needed quickly. Act-On does so many things, it would be impossible to cover here, but I like their email and landing page creator. I found it to be very intuitive. The user interface is showing some age, but it's very straightforward and there's not a lot of guessing about how to use it. Act-On is list based, which is the "old" methodology in the industry right now, but if you're a fan of that strategy, you'll feel right at home. Workflow creation is very easy. Data Studio (an add-on) also allows you to create custom reporting, and baked in integrations and an automated FTP connection allow you to get your data talking to each other automatically. The university has great educational information available too.

Cons: You'll get out of Act-On what you put into it. The support and university is there to guide you in that process, but it's ultimately up to you. That's how it is with any platform that doesn't offer in-house services, but with a marketing automation suite, you will really get more out of it if you have knowledgeable staff that have experience implementing and using these platforms. It can be daunting if it's your first time using a marketing automation suite. While Act-On is working on some new things, I don't know that they are putting as much effort behind investing into the product as some of the leading companies in the space. Also, some of the tools are a little rudimentary, and the UI could certainly use some modernizing. It feels too much like Windows XP at times.

Overall: We've been able to bring our marketing data into one place and create a more unified platform from which to send out our marketing campaigns.

Comments: Our company is an insurance brokerage firm specializing in employee benefits (health, dental, life, pensions) for midsize companies in Brazil. Our sales process is based on inside sales cold calling clients to schedule face-to-face visits with our sales consultants. We already have a great telemarketing platform, and we wanted to extract more value from the interactions we have with our prospects, especially when it's not yet time to schedule a face-to-face visit. Before Act-On, we only scheduled a follow-up call after a given time, determined by the inside sales agent according to client response. We found Act-On as an affordable and flexible solution to our marketing automation needs. We particularly liked their "no commitment" sales approach, with month to month billing, no contracts, no upfront setup fees. Implementation was easy, we were able to figure out how to do it ourselves. Business support is very weak, though. Interactions are very superficial, and the sales rep (who, thankfully, continued to be accessible to answer our questions) is more knowledgeable about the software and real marketing applications than the designated Customer Success Managers (who we don't feel are very invested in our success). Its functionality is basic but complete. The content manager (for Landing Pages, for example) is quite basic, but once you figure out how to use it, it does what you need done. Lead scoring works fine, as do Automated Programs. It could have better designed templates for emails and landing pages; the ones provided are dreadful. There is a major shortcoming, though, and I think it's a fatal one: e-mail deliverability. For some reason, most of the email I send through Act-On doesn't make it to my clients' inboxes. I have trying to address this issue with Act-On's deliverability team, but it seems to be something they have resigned to convince their customers to live with. Our clients are in Brazil, so they tried to convince me that this is a problem specific to Brazilian ISPs. I believed this, until I made a test a couple weeks ago. I sent test messages to all ISPs I could create an account on: UOL, Locaweb (Brazilian), GMail, Google Apps, Outlook.com, iCloud, and Yahoo. It turned out that all messages sent to Brazilian ISPs actually made it to their inboxes. The problem was with Google hosted email accounts (100% of the messages I sent went to junk/spam; they didn't even make it to the new Promotions tab), Outlook and Yahoo. So, even if you are in the U.S., look out for poor deliverability.

Comments: Our company has tried different Marketing vendors, and not every experience has been a pleasant one. This is why I can say with confidence that Act-On is the best Marketing Software that we have found. Not only do they deliver a great product, but the customer experience has been stellar from Day One. You can really feel they care about their customers and I especially love the fact that I am not treated like just a client number. It's always great to find a vendor that takes such great care of their clients.

Our Product Management and Marketing Teams are definitely #TeamActOn! One of the things that Act-On does better is their Salesforce integration which works both ways, meaning that no matter where the lead information originates, it will synchronize correctly as it should, which was not the case with other software we tried.

Act-On's out-of-the-box Webinar integration with GoToMeeting and WebEx simply works and there's no need to purchase or subscribe to additional "Apps" as was the case with other Marketing platforms.

We really appreciate their service--it has helped our Marketing Team be more efficient and take our Marketing campaigns to the next level. Did I mention that our Sales Team loves seeing who's visiting our website? They even have their own Act-On Tab in Salesforce with leads in their territory based on Act-On's lead scoring.

I feel that Act-On provides the best value from the marketing software that I've personally vetted. They recognize that sometimes you don't market to the same individuals all the time, which is why their pricing model is based on the number of active contacts you e-mail each month. Unlike other vendors, you are not locked into a 12-month or greater commitment contract. The contract is on a monthly basis and you can cancel at anytime--they truly earn our business on an ongoing basis.

If I had to change anything, I would probably request for greater reporting capabilities when it comes to integrating our Google AdWords campaign, but it looks like they plan on rolling out some improvements in that area soon. Overall, Act-On is a great service and we plan on being a customer for many years to come.

Pros: The company's main advantage (whether they market it or not, but they definitely use it during a sale) is they allow for companies to BUY lists and bring in cold contacts. Almost every other provider prohibits this.

Well, that's why for good companies, your marketing performance and emails drop wayyy down. And worse, their support imagines nothing is wrong, and everything is going OK.

They will also negotiate your price far lower than others, to lock you into an annual contract.

Cons: - Email delivery is terrible
- Their support tried to help, but makes false promises on waiting
- Locked into a major contract, which even with their lack of performance, is tough to leave
- Their UI is really, really bad
- Barely any templates for things like landing pages, emails, etc.
- General data between modules is not easy to gather, collect or use for additional sales.

Overall: No benefits when looking back, lots of time, and money lost.

Happy Journey from ZohoCRM/Act-On to Salesforce/Act-On

Comments: A few years ago, after consulting and then joining a growing small business, the president and I threw out Microsoft's Business Contact Manager and brought up ZohoCRM integrated with GoogleApps/Mail. The combination was a 'right-size' approach at the time, for many months. But as the customer database grew, the reporting needs and interest in integrating marketing automation intensified, we knew we needed to augment or replace the use of Vertical Response for outbound. Surveying the segment, I found and researched Eloqua, Marketo, and Act-On. As we were staffing limited, time was valuable, complex solutions were of no interest. We went with Act-On and have never looked back. The recent migration from moving from the ZohoCRM platform to Salesforce.com as the needs and demands grew has gone quite smoothly. I have seen the comments related to Salesforce by others and believe that for some who are not going to try to work towards automation, and for whom a solid Ecosystem of solutions from which to draw are not important, ZohoCRM can be an attractive solution. But, if a minimal level of usage sophistication begins to be applied, integration with other systems like Lead Management/Marketing Automation is important (and at this point, it should be for nearly any business with revenues over a few hundred $K a year) the Salesforce/Act-On combination has been killer-good,

Pros: Act-On is FAST to get running, whether using alone, or in conjunction with another platform like Salesforce. Answers, insight, follow up automation are all easily obtainable quickly without being sent to a week-long training seminar for $1500.

Cons: Act-On is still building out some capabilities that other players like Eloqua have had. But if you're just starting out, you're not likely to need those features for some time as you get your feet under you. A/O is best for small to mid-size firms.

Pros: The software interface is mostly drag and drop, which is helpful for non developers and non designers alike to create modern, effective emails. With automation and A?B testing, it is great for marketing research and drop or nurture campaigns. Each account is attached to a customer service representative, and they are very helpful and attentive.

Cons: The functionality compared to the price is a concern. While it can handle thousands of users, free automation softwares are offering more email design functionality than this software. The user interface isn't the most friendliest, with emails, landing pages, templates and content all divided up into multiple folders. The software boasts that it is custom HTML friendly, but it is very difficult to execute properly. The software also has issues formatting for Outlook.

Comments: We've worked with Act-on for more than three years and have appreciated what it accomplishes for us. Customer service has always been responsive, as well. If you can't necessarily affort one of the major players in the market, Act-on is a great alternative.

Pros: The automated programs make staying in touch with customers and prospects very easy. You can set up quite complicated programs that incorporate not only emails to the target audience but that also notify internal staff and other functions.

Cons: It's not as complete as some other systems. For instance, the website info you can get is not super detailed or useful. As well, connecting with a CRM that isn't already integrated is not a simple task.

Comments: Act-On is one of the best values for what you get in regards to marketing automation systems. It is worth the cost.

Pros: Act-On is an easy to use marketing automation platform. I've used Marketo in the past, and Act-On was much simpler and user friendly. Over the last 2 to 3 years they've enhanced the look and feel of the product only for the better. But perhaps the portion of Act-On that I like the most is the support. They offer top tier support. It actually might be some of the best support I've had for a SaaS offering.

Cons: I do wish they had a few more options around landing pages. Unfortunately, HubSpot blows them out of the water on this feature.

Pros: We chose Act-on as our marketing automation software because of its native integration with Salesforce, our CRM at the time.

We made the move from Marketo, and Act-on has a much easier user interface. There were so many things we could track and do.

We had great customer service, including weekly calls with a customer experience rep.

Cons: Like most marketing automation software, the key to success is learning all of the ins and outs of the system, then create a strategy surrounding it.

If you don't have someone on your team willing to take advantage of all of the features, the price might outweigh the benefit.

Our customer experience rep could have helped more in overall strategy and campaign building, but they were incredibly busy, too busy to go in depth on those items.

The team ended up moving to a simpler and cheaper product because they weren't taking advantage of everything Act-on had to offer.

Pros: - The simplicity of the interface and overall product
- Creating email programs is a nice drag and drop style
- Pretty advanced options in creating a program
- Salesforce sync is nice when building out lists. Being able to save syncing preferences is a great option that reduces time.
- Don't have to know HTML or CSS to use
- Nice Inbound section for SEO, paid ads, and website visits (if you're doing ABM you can see what companies are coming to your site).

Cons: - The platform for us is really slow. We have a lot of emails going out and it can really slow down the entire platform, which can be frustrating.
- Segmenting within a program not that great
- Adding multiple IF branches almost break the entire platform. Clicking on one segment to change can take 10 seconds to load the drop-down menu.
- The menu can get really confusing at times
- Knowledge-base is nonexistent. I can never find any resource from Act-On that helps with problems I encounter. I have to email or call them every time.
- Can't dive into reports (at least in my account). I can see an overall report but I can't dive into specific campaigns, lists or by time period.

Overall: It's a great tool starting out but I think in the long-run you would need another option. If you're looking for a pretty simple, effective marketing automation platform that syncs with Salesforce easily and can do some pretty advanced things, this is a great option but may not be the best if you're looking to do advanced tactics.

Comments: AVOID these guys at all cost. The ux is poor and you'll need a dedicated in house resource to learn and operate a sub-optimal system.

Pros: Sales team will be all over you prior to signing. That should have been a sign to run. Truly a poor and deceitful software company

Cons: Read the contract carefully. They include an auto-renewal clause that is non-cancelable. They will not notify you at all when the contract renewal is coming up and automatically lock you into a full year which they won't let you cancel. As a small business testing out systems this is horrible. They should at least notify customers of upcoming renewals. We had stopped using the software as months before and forgot about it until we starting seeing $ charges to the company. When we tried to cancel they refused and sent the account to a collection agency...well done Act-on. Any world class software company doesn't try to trick clients into sticking with them. Provide a valuable service and clients will gladly stick with you.....when Adobe, Microsoft, and Google all allow you to adjust subscriptions and drop subscriptions to services not being used at any time.

Pros: I've chosen Act-On to implement at my current and previous company after extensive demos from several direct competitors. - The price structure with Act-On (paying for records you access through the platform rather than for the entirety of the database) is tough to beat - Full Dynamics integration. It makes an ugly program easier to use.

Cons: It really takes a good day or more of training to get to basic proficiency for administrators, and it would be hard to use without a CRM expert managing database connections.

Pros: Act-on is a great software to use in order to gather an account's history with the company. I'm able to access form submissions, browsing history as well as customer preferences, and set up alerts any time a customer returns. The functionality of Act-on makes it one of my most used pieces of software in my day-to-day work and I'd be extremely less effective without it.

Cons: Long story short, Act-on doesn't always like to work. almost daily there seems to be some sort of hiccup and I (and others in my company) are unable to use it. It seems that countless requests to customer support don't help either. Act-on would be almost perfect, however its support and stability make it more of a headache than it should be.

Overall: It provides numerous ways of tracking repeat customers and sorting through leads to help me contact the people most likely to purchase.

Pros: I like that I can build drip campaigns or send one-time emails. I also like using the send over time feature. I like the variety of options in how to customize email content.

Cons: The tool is clunky-not very user friendly. It takes too many clicks to get to the screen you want, whether it's changing a step in an automated program or checking email opens on a report. The reporting is very limited and makes my reporting process very manual because it doesn't provide what I need. Whenever I call customer service, there is at least a half an hour wait to get through. If I leave a voicemail, they do not call back. They email instead and provide very limited answers in the responses, so it takes multiple emails back and forth to get the information I need. The whole email process takes several days until my issue is resolved.

Pros: The platform is very simple to understand and use. You don't need much training before you can get up and running building e-mails, landing pages, and programs for marketing automation. There is a lot of room for customization as well. Also, the price is a bit lower than some other marketing automation software.

Cons: There are some issues within the landing page builder - sometimes it is hard to get the object placement right if you do not know the HTML coding on the back end. The system also can run a bit slow at times.

Recommendations to other buyers: Check what type of software will best integrate with your sales platform (ex: Salesforce) before making a decision about what type of marketing automation software to use. Also check if pricing is by lead volume or a certain amount of time (ex: 100,000 contacts max in the system vs. a 1 year contract) - if you're a larger company planning to have a large population in your marketing automation system, it may be beneficial to go with a time contract instead.

Pros: The software itself was pretty good. We would have loved to continue using the software and take full advantage of what it has to offer.

Cons: Aggressive, high-pressure sales calls and smoke and mirror games about getting discounted prices. Ultimately, though, Act-On offered us a discount, but they did not disclose what future upgrade costs would be. We made what the client count would have to be clear before we signed up, but they convinced us to sign up in a lower tier to meet our budget and close the deal. But then, after 3-4 months of set-up and training, we finally went to use the software in practice and needed to upgrade the number of clients to actually utilize the system, and then we were met with the reality of the situation. They had no intent of accommodating our original needs at the budget we discussed and tried to double our cost to get to the original needs we discussed. Even though they admitted that they were vague and unclear in the agreement on the upgrade details, they refused to accommodate our needs/budget or to let us out of our contract and instead chose to simply state that we were still bound to pay for the software until the end of the term, even though they know we won't even be able to utilize the service. Pretty poor service, and they are only thinking in the short-term about making a few bucks instead of working with us to save the account.

Recommendations to other buyers: Be careful to get your growth plan and rates for future growth identified in your initial contract. Don't sign up unless you know what rates they will charge you in the future if you need to upgrade client numbers.

Comments: We specifically communicate with the C-Suite and particularly with the CEO or President of our clients. It's a relationship-selling process and a one-to-one marketing environment with the most difficult demographics imaginable. We needed a marketing automation platform to track visits to our website from various sources: print campaigns, event follow-up, quarterly articles, etc. Before Act-On we had no software solution. We have an enterprise account. The implementation was extremely easy, and integration with salesforce was not too complicated or messy. We had a lot of data scrubbing to do on our end before things were working correctly. It took about 30 days and Act-On was really helpful. Act-On is very easy to use; it only took us a few days after our initial conference call with the support/training group to send out our first campaign. Customer support is very responsive and thorough. I was having difficulty getting one particular form to do what I wanted it to do, but after a quick chat with our support representative (we have our own dedicated account executive and support person) I was creating landing pages left and right. We can see results in near-real-time! (just hit the refresh button and wala!) It's great to have reports that track everything that our executives can understand and show where marketing is making an impact. It's very difficult to tie in marketing to sales a lot of the time, but we can show where a specific individual landed on our site after a campaign or email, and see what their behavior is. After seeing the pages they landed on, we can issue a request for a follow-up call and direct the sales team to what topics might be of interest to the prospect.

Comments: ACT-ON is a very powerful marketing automation tool that we decided upon after much research. It allows a great deal of work in segmentation, customer behavior analysis, etc. However, at $600/mo plus the $450 a month for the Salesforce CRM that we used with it, it was too much expense and, as a very small company, we were not able to take advantage of the features. Support is TREMENDOUS with this company and that goes a long way. We're dropping Act-On for now but if we grow to the size of a company that can afford a full-time marketing person and who can devote the time necessary to utilize all the great tools, we would definitely look at them again.

Pros: I have used and reviewed many tools, but i will say Act-On is my favorite. Easy to use, and the best customer service of any of it's competitors.

Pros: You can do a lot with Act-On, so long as you know how to use it. It integrates well with SalesForce and is really useful for tracking engagement and behavior via email and web pages.

Cons: Act-On gets the job done on marketing automation, but it's not pretty or easy to navigate. Its UI looks like it dates back to the early 2000's. It is very cluttered and disorganized. Although there are a lot of features, they are a pain to find and implement smoothly together. It is difficult to manage data inside of it.

Comments: When it came to a marketing automation solution, our organization took the Goldilocks approach: First, we tried Pardot and found that it really didn't deliver what we were looking for. Their lack of lead attribution functionality just didn't work for us. We wanted to be able to connect the dots on sales and marketing touches but ultimately know which touch landed us the business. The process that Pardot defined for us meant that we had to add several steps to our own process. It was not what we expected out of an automated program. Second, we tried Marketo and found that it was overwhelmingly complicated. Again, not what we expected out of an automated system. Not only was it complicated to set up campaigns, but it was also complicated to get some assistance if we ran into a problem. We'd have to put in a ticket, call to follow up, wait for someone to get back to us and then wait for them to hear back from overseas trainers and developers to get back to them so they could circle back around to us. Several times, we were told that we needed to pay for some additional add-on or additional training. Finally, we moved to Act-On and they have been "just right." Our implementation was a breeze, and the software does exactly what we want it to do - and then some. As with any new software, we had questions and user issues, etc. but the Act-On crew was always there with answers - sometimes within minutes of us contacting them! The software is great, but what makes Act-On different is their team. It's comforting to know that we have advocates there that really want us to succeed.

Comments: We used this software for 2 years. Initially, the service was really good. Roughly a year into our service, the experience began to decline, in several aspects. Several of Act-On's IP addresses became gray listed, due to abuse from a few users. This caused our deliverability to decrease on email sends. Additionally, we were regularly switched to a different CSM throughout our experience. We had at least 4 CSMs in two years. This was a challenge for us, with regard to keeping a continuity regarding our contact at Act-On, and who we went to with questions. It was a good MA software for us starting out and enabled us to expand our marketing automation capabilities beyond what we could do in Hubspot, but the quality of the user interface was lacking, as well as the deliverability issues and high turnover of personnel at Act-On.

Pros: Most inexpensive, full featured Marketing Automation software available. Integration with Salesforce was good, which made Act-On a useful tool for our sales team. The daily email prospector report was a useful tool to get a big picture view of website traffic among known and unknown sources.

Cons: In the last year, they have doubled their pricing, to line up more directly with the other MA software offerings, but use that as a starting point to discount heavily. We experienced a high turnover of CSMs and salespeople, which was concerning because we lacked continuity on our point of contact.

Recommendations to other buyers: Investigate current users of the software, ask for references, and find out how their deliverability is.

Pros: Building mailings is relatively straightforward. There are a decent amount of functions that allow us to customize our mailings in different ways based on content and branding for our various campaigns.

Cons: The sorting and filtering functions for sent mailings isn't very robust. The mailing builder is actually really quite finicky sometimes. Adding borders around image blocks causes extra white space around mailings. Also, buttons and other smaller elements render differently in the mailing builder than in Outlook, which is one of the primary email clients people use. Mailings end up looking less polished in Outlook.

Pros: Basic functions are easy to use,. Setting up automating and more advanced functions are tricky. But resources available help.

Cons: Sometimes have issues with saving a draft and then going back and my changes weren't saved. Also the drafts don't automatically save so I've accidentally shut down and lost my work. It would be better if it auto saved every so often.

Overall: It makes sending emails efficient and pulling segments easy for someone that doesn't have a lot of technical background.

Pros: I like that it will track my emails and log them to our CRM (Microsoft Dynamics). I like that I can get a daily email letting me know of known and anonymous visitors to our website.

Cons: It's clunky to try and track down a specific email to see if the recipient has interacted with it. This is really a tool that is more valuable to marketing, but has built some features that are being sold as a sales tool. It's a nice to have, but not a need for sales.

Pros: I really like how easy it is to set this product up with other 3rd party platforms. It was very easy to integrate with Salesforce, BigCommerce and a 3PL system for logistics. The logic is very easy to understand and easy to test. Pricing is great as well.

Cons: I don't really dislike anything about the platform. I do not like that is not as popular as some of it's competitors. Other than that I have only found good things in relation to this platform.

Recommendations to other buyers: Set up a trial on the platform and build out a campaign to see how the system will work for you. Also compare the pricing for the number of contacts you will have and the volume that you are predicting for this and other platforms. You will likely find that Act-On is very competitive.

Comments: Act-On is one of the most powerful - yet intuitive - marketing and lead nurturing software tools I've come across. I implemented Act-On for a large accounting firm who is one of our clients and needed better tools to nurture their prospects in a long-term complex sales cycle. In selling professional services - or in many other businesses where a decision to purchase is made over a matter of months or even years - it's necessary to keep prospects engaged in a relevant way. With Act-On, you can use their powerful email, list management, web visitor tracking, and lead scoring tools to nurture prospects and score their engagement based on behavioral criteria you establish. Then when the prospect gets to a certain level of engagement, you have the opportunity to have a sales conversation at the right time. The information it provides gives you actionable results instead of just meaningless numbers. In addition to the powerful tools, Act-On is very easy to use and intuitive. And the customer support was outstanding; at times, they were reaching out to me, asking me if I needed anything or if I had seen new features that were introduced, etc. All of this comes in a package that's pretty reasonably priced for the level of features it provides, and there's no long-term commitment. Overall, it's enabled my client to better see which prospects are engaging and at what level and to get better analytics on how effective their website, emails, events and other activities are working.

Pros: In the landscape of marketing automation systems, ACT-ON is not the most powerful solution, but it is not the most expensive. It works quite well for our needs.

Cons: I generally don't need a lot of support, but if I can't find a solution on their knowledge base, I have no choice but to call them directly. Ever since ACT-ON closed one of there offices a few months ago, it has been taking me an hour to get through on their support line. I had someone email in June and said they would get back to me very soon. After 6 weeks, I emailed them back and then received a response.

Overall: I was looking for an email tool that integrates with MS CRM and this product fits the bill. It allows you to drip campaigns, which is nice (albeit not intuitively). Just make sure you give yourself ample time for their assistance.

Comments: You need to be patient with this software, people arent going to start calling overnight. Invest your time into this product and you will begin to see a difference.

Pros: I like that as a single person department and someone who had limited experience with marketing automation and had never set it up before, I was able to get up and running in about 60 days with their guidance. It's a logical and pretty intuitive software that has good functionality.

Cons: Sometimes I am not sure where to go for information and help. As with many software companies, they change their sales reps often so without a single known point of contact, I am occasionally frustrated with not having someone I know, who knows me, to go to. That said, this is true of many companies these days.

Overall: Huge time savings and email marketing capabilities; ability to make professional looking custom landing pages myself means I can turn around campaigns more quickly

Pros: Act-On offers a lot of value for the price. They are certainly not the top platform as far as features and functionality, but they offer a great bang for the buck and continue to improve the platform. For many small and mid-size businesses and those new to marketing automation, Act-On is a great first step into the software, and you can also grow with it as well. Also, the pricing, training, etc. are very easy to get started.

Cons: I've had some email deliverability woes and feel that they have been slow to improve their landing page/form functionality. They recently released a responsive editor for emails, which is long overdue.

Recommendations to other buyers: It's all about what you are looking for. There are overlaps with all the MA vendors, but they are not the same. For example, there are some features and functionality that Hubspot has that blow away Act-On. However, there are some things Act-On has/does that blow away Hubspot. They are all very different, and I would recommend demoing each to get a feel for the one that will best meet your needs.

Pros: My team recently started using Act-On as our marketing CRM, and I'm very pleased with how easy it is to use and excited about the in-depth capabilities for reporting and drip campaigns.

Cons: None so far, other than the fact that it isn't cheap (but for a quickly-growing marketing department, it's worth the expense to use a powerful marketing software).

Pros: There are so many functionalities with Act-On. With email marketing, you can use one of their well-designed templates, or upload your own or create text based emails. The plug and play options are incredibly easy to use.

Cons: It can be hard to find the page you're looking for within the menu because of the multiple dropdowns or the naming convention.

Pros: The most beneficial aspect of Act-On for my team and me is the ease in which you can create attractive templates for emails, landing pages and forms.

Cons: I do not have any major dislikes as far as the software platform is concerned. There have at times been minor issues, but support always does a great job quickly rectifying the situation.

Comments: A10 Capital is a financial services company specializing in commercial real estate lending. We have a very niche product, so getting messages out to the right people at the right time is critical. Before adopting Act-On, we were using a combination of spreadsheets and other e-mail marketing platforms that did not sync with our Salesforce platform. This resulted in many hours of work for the marketing coordinator compiling reports manually and attempting to track down the whereabouts of individuals with bounced e-mail. We purchased Act-On in May 2012 and were up and running our first campaigns within a week. Our implementation team was fantastic; they trained my sales users both in a group setting and individually. Since launching the Act-On platform, we've spent just a few hours a week on e-mail marketing. We've tripled the number of leads in our system and qualified approximately 30% more with Act-On. My sales team reports that they love the visibility Act-On gives them as to how messages are being received and who's interested in learning more about our services. It makes a huge difference in how they make their daily calling efforts and in the overall success of A10 Capital.

Pros: Act-On makes it very easy to manage multiple integrated marketing programs, with built-in testing and reporting capabilities that allow us to easily identify what is working and what can improve. The platform is feature-rich and is always improving, which our team feels is a tremendous value, given the affordable price point. Act-On compares well to much more expensive competitive solutions and allows us to achieve great results with a very small team.

Cons: The landing page builder could be more robust, and it would be nice to have more pre-designed templates to choose from for emails, forms, and landing pages.

Recommendations to other buyers: Read reviews from businesses and teams similar to your own. What's important to an enterprise marketing group may not be as important to a small team at a mid-size business, and vice versa. Ensure that your marketing automation platform integrates with your CRM to get the most from your efforts, and ideally, it should be able to tie each touchpoint back to revenue.

Comments: Their very "robust" product is a legacy system probably older than DOS. Everything is clunky, various steps to accomplish simple tasks, landing pages that are nearly impossible to customize, integrations to 3rd parties are limited to a few. I accomplished the same results with Unbounce.com, MailChimp, Zappier and any CRM even a spreadsheet will be more useful than the crap they have - all for less. If you really want something good try Hubspot but merely $$$ more you get a real working solution. Trying to get out of the contract since we could not make use of their useless system, got is into collection and we had to pay the entire contract.

Pros: Customer service picks up on the first ring... but then the problems and bugs are labeled "features". How can the inability to customize the look and feel of a form be considered a feature?

Cons: All of it Lengthy contracts impossible to get rid of Cannot customize forms Cannot edit automation flows easily CRM is as old as DOS Cannot integrate with the rest of the world Expensive Not worth a penny

Recommendations to other buyers: Run. Try Hubspot if you can afford it Put together unbounce, mailchimp and zappier for the same functionality pennies on the dollar.

Pros: The vendor is by far one of the best I have ever worked with. They have spent hours with us on any issue that has come up, and truly been a resource during implementation. The product is excellent and the product management team listens to feedback to adjust and enhance Act-On.

Cons: There were a few kinks in rollouts for upgrades to the software but that was nearly 8 months ago and their process is much more streamlined.

Recommendations to other buyers: When reviewing make sure if you are looking at services that integrate with your CRM has the connection included. Many charged additional fees to connect with our CRM. Also, if you plan to use your websites own CMS system, make sure a vendor will allow you to mirror your site (Act-On does). We really could not create our website and landing pages on another system in order to market.

Pros: Act-On is very easy to use and has functionalities our firm was in need of. Instead of having to juggle multiple products that don't integrate, we can use this one simple product to take care of all our marketing needs. Also, Act-On integrates with our CRM system allowing us to track and synchronize everything so easily!

Cons: Although Act-On lets you be as creative as you would like, sometimes putting together email templates can be complicated.

Recommendations to other buyers: Rely on the Act-On team for help whenever you need it. They are very responsive and will walk you through each step until you 100% understand.

Pros: Act-On is a great tool to use if you have a small database and limited budget. I love that updates happen once every two weeks, and the user interface is pretty friendly.

Cons: I think the functionality of the tool is below some of the competing vendors that exist out there. We tried migrating some accounts to this tool as a cost effective solution and found we weren't able to do everything we wanted like our old tool. Marketing Automation pieces could definitely use some improvement.

Recommendations to other buyers: Make sure you're looking into functionality of the tool to make sure it meets your organizational needs. Know how much manual effort (not automated) it will take to achieve your goals and if there are additional costs (plug-ins/add-ins/3rd party tools) to take into consideration.

Pros: I used this software for a little while in my past company. If you want a bare bones system that will work for emails and some automation, I guess this product will work for you.

Cons: Interface is super old and dated. Functionality is very limited and not up to par compared to more competent products like HubSpot or Marketo. It may be cheaper, but you could do much better springing for a basic version of HubSpot or another software. Save Act-On for those who use Windows 95 and are used to the dated look.

Overall: Not a great product. My advice - go with a system that has more tools and better interface. Hard to use and do anything with this.

Pros: The ease of use is one of my favorite attributes of Act-On. They make it so easy to find information and provide tons of ways to use the information. Integrating it with our CRM was unbelievably easy and added a whole other dimension of information available to help tailor our marketing efforts. It's also an added bonus that they are always improving their product based on their customer's feedback. The team at Act-On are all so helpful. They're friendly, and they do everything they can to assist you and make you successful with the platform.

Cons: Some of the form/landing page/email creation can be tricky if you want to dig deeper into customizing your pieces and you don't have a solid knowledge of HTML.

Recommendations to other buyers: Take a look at the whole picture. A lot of the features that Act-On includes with their platform are add-ons with other systems.

Pros: Act-On is extremely easy to use and starts providing working data immediately. Act-On has a quality product with a friendly UI and wonderful support when the occasional question comes up.

Cons: A good addition would be the integration of a survey platform for more robust reporting. Act-On supports building forms and landing pages, but some little details could be improved on in this respect. Otherwise, it is a great platform that seems to support all of our needs now and into the future.

Recommendations to other buyers: We liked many things about Act-On in our short research period. The service was quickly up and running, and we had training to get up to speed. There is so much more available than what we are using today. The user groups provide ideas and support. The product and Customer Support are great! Act-On was our company's first marketing automation platform, and there are others out there, but I think our decision was a good one.

Pros: Offers many of the features of more expensive marketing suite at budget friendly pricing. Easy to use for almost anyone on your team, easy to assign tasks.

Pros: I like Act-on because it is simple. It is clean and does what I want it to do. If I have an issue, I can just call or email someone at Act-on, and they will drop everything to help me fix my issue and get me back to my task. I've been using it for almost four years now and have never thought, "Boy, we need to find another tool." It just keeps getting better because they actually listen to their users. The community is very active, and it makes you feel good to know that your comments are being seen and are changing the future of this tool.

Cons: They have been limited on their choices of stock email templates, but in August 2014, they are releasing a new builder, which should fix this tiny problem.

Recommendations to other buyers: Do your homework and find out exactly what it is you are trying to get out of a marketing automation tool.

After being a loyal Hubspot user, I switched to Act-On. Huge mistake.

Pros: I liked what they described the product to be during the sales process.

Cons: Nothing they described during the sales process materialized. I have heard the phrase "Hmm, weird" many, many times in response to questions or concerns with the product. We have a huge number of undelivered emails without explanation. Saved emails disappear. Salesforce integration is clunky and unreliable. Tech support is hard to access. Cannot wait to go back to another tool.

Recommendations to other buyers: Go solely on what is written in the contract (which is intentionally sparse). What your sales person says is completely irrelevant. Be sure you understand full functionality before switching from a quality tool.

Pros: I like the platform. Pricing is reasonable. For first timers it is very easy to start your email campaigns and marketing efforts and train others. But at the same time there will be a learning curve when you dive deeper into this software. Customer Service very helpful. They have helped my business grow.

Cons: The contract has an auto-renewal with no reminders. Notate when your renewal date is coming up to avoid any surprises.

Comments: Spitfire Marketing + Creative, Inc. is an Inbound Certified full service marketing agency with a strong focus on digital. We provide our customers with everything from basic branding to full strategy and event planning. We're small, scrappy, and love partnering with our clients to help them achieve their goals. We have been using Act-On for a little over a year and have tested it against various other cloud-based solutions. Act-On stands head and shoulders above its competitors as far as ease of use, functionality, and customer service. While some aspects are a little cumbersome to learn, the customer service team is more than willing to help decrease the learning curve. Implementation and getting started were a piece of cake, especially since we dealt directly with Act-On, and not a third party vendor. We use the full suite with the Inbound add-on, and love the depth of offerings within the suite. E-Mail marketing, landing pages, and analytic tools are all very easy to set-up, use, and share with clients.

Comments: HA Advantage was a startup organization at the time we purchased Act-On. We'd outgrown the Salesforce.com email functionality and wanted more insight into what our email recipients were doing. Enter Act-On. We purchased Act-On over four years ago and haven't looked back for a moment. We were up and running in a day - maybe two - and sent our first marketing email on day three. Throughout the startup, implementation, and ongoing use, Act-On has been incredibly supportive and responsive in helping understand the steps needed to complete an activity or program. More impressively, when we ran into product limitations, they put solutions for those limitations on the product roadmap, and it was a matter of weeks before the new functionality was usable in the production environment. In short, we've built our business around an Outbound email program that is powered by Act-On. The business has grown from $0 to $23.7M in 37 months, and every dollar of revenue started with an outbound email via Act-On.

Pros: I love every feature that Act-On provides. I have recently dug pretty deep into the marketing automation program flows, landing pages, scoring, alerts, and more and have been impressed with what we are capable of accomplishing with this advanced program. I am also amazed at Act-On's tech support. I have had probably a dozen questions since I really started using this program and Act-On has answered it within the hour every single time. Thank you, Act-On for your help!

Cons: What I like least is that our platform is integrated with our Bullhorn system, but doesn't appear to always work as smoothly as we had hoped. However, once we figured out the kinks we have made it work with what we have.

Overall: We have been able to keep up in our email communication easily with the automated programs. Act-On has taken care of all the busy work for me so I don't have to upload lists all the time, manually send messages every week, etc.

Pros: Since the very beginning of our relationship with Act-On, they have been helpful and have always been improving the product. It is a very intuitive tool and makes marketing fun and effective.

Cons: I have experienced some issues with the way that Act-On defines a lead as needing to be suppressed and the resulting limitations that it places on optimizing my database.

Recommendations to other buyers: If you are new to this type of technology or if you are an old hand using marketing tools, make sure you really play around with each product you are evaluating. If at the end of a demo or discovery session you think, "Wow that's complicated," you will probably not use the product to its fullest potential. If you are left with the thought, "Wow, I can't wait to play around with this tool," chances are good that you will use and enjoy the product.

Pros: The support was next to none! I had one dedicated person from Act-On that was highly accessible and worked with me to put together nurturing programs. I watched demos of quite a few tools that looked very complicated, but Act-On was very easy to learn and use. The web traffic reports were an extra plus, where you would normally need to purchase another program, Act-On has great website analytics.

Cons: The only thing I don't like is there is not a direct integration with the CRM my company uses, Oracle CRM on Demand. This is making it difficult to move leads from Act-On to the CRM and back again.

Recommendations to other buyers: Don't just look at only the largest players in the market when it comes to marketing automation.

Pros: The product is easy to use. The support staff is the best in the industry. They are very attentive and quick to respond. The support documentation is very extensive and useful.

Cons: A great addition to this product would be to add more capabilities for an editorial/marketing calendar for activities outside of Act-On.

Recommendations to other buyers: I recommend analyzing the functions on each marketing automation software product. Act-On has a very robust system, and it is a great starting point to get into marketing automation. There are so many functions that my company still hasn't used yet. This software grows as the marketing functions grow. They are continually making improvements to the software. I would also recommend looking at the support for the product. Pros: Ease of use is the top pro for me. Being the core marketing resource, I simply did not have the time to become the marketing automation expert. With the ease of set up and the intuitive campaign management, I didn't have to.

Cons: The only thing I see as a restriction to Act-On is some minor browser conflicts that occur when I am on my mobile device. But, they are so minor that they don't really cause any limitations.

Pros: Act-on's software is easy and intuitive to use. From beginner to advanced users, this software is set up perfectly for everyone! The WYSWIG style editor makes it particularly easy to pull off beautiful emails and landing pages for coordinated campaigns. The forms feature is probably one I'm most happy with; it saves hours!

Cons: I have no complaints; anytime I have had an issue, Act-on has resolved it quickly. Their customer service is very hands-on.

Recommendations to other buyers: Really compare your options and the usability of all features. I've used several e-marketing tools available, both free and paid, and this has been the most attractive, successful, and easiest to use.

Comments: Our company switched to Act-On from Marketo because of pricing and it looked like it would still handle our needs as a small-mid sized company. We were right. Act-On's customer service helped us with things we couldn't figure out on our own, and usually that stuff was pretty advanced. We didn't need to ask for help with much because the software is really easy to use, there are just a few advanced features that we needed help learning about, and they were dedicated to helping us find an answer. Now that we've been using it for a while, we have a lot of templates making things extremely efficient, and we have a lot of results/stats that help us improve on our campaigns and marketing effectiveness. Forms, landing pages, basic emails, social media...it's all been great so far.

Comments: Act-On has been a vendor but I would say "Partner" for over 2 years now. From day one when they were trying to win my business to today, I'm treated the same way - Can do attitude from all levels. There customer service has been fabulous.

The product ease of use is great. I would say, I have some crazy asks and instead of saying "No", they usually go back research it and if they can't do it, they tell me why or offer an alternative or work around.

Sure there are a few things, that could be improved - collapsible segment lists or re-order of marketing lists but I see them in the "Feature Wish List from Customers" and Act-On has marked with them with planned, or in progress or done. They truly are listening and reacting to their clients.

Pros: Act-On delivers software as it should be - as a service. So many companies require you to hire multiple administrators and jump through hoops to implement an extremely complex system. With Act-On, they are so confident in their solution, they'll even sell it on a month-to-month basis. Ask the other companies to buy month-to-month; good luck!

Cons: It is just an amazing product. I would highly recommend Act-On.

Recommendations to other buyers: Understand the total cost of ownership. When the other companies say they are 50-100% more expensive, they are really 200-300% more expensive because you have to hire administrators!

Comments: Overall, using Act-On has been a good experience because of their support program and continual improvements. Whenever I run into problems, the customer service or the representative assigned to my organization, are able to help me answer any questions, and also suggest more effective and efficient ways of doing things. I have also found that they are always open to suggestions for improvements, and they work as quickly as they can to improve the user experience. There have been a couple different times that I have suggested changes that Act-On has taken into consideration when making updates to their software. I think openness to listen to their users is what makes Act-On a friendly, usable, and successful software.

Pros: It's user friendly, has a nice design, and serves the basic purpose of helping you stay in touch with your customers and build a marketing plan for your brand

Cons: There are just stronger programs out there that can make reaching a bigger audience easier, but if you're a beginner or a small business, this platform is great.

Pros: The Act-On interface is remarkably easy to use, but what stands out to me is the quality of your interactions with the Act-On employees. Our customer success manager goes out of his way to help us understand things like deliverability and to make sure we're getting the most out of the product.

Cons: I'd like a mobile app and more robust email and landing page templates to work from.

Recommendations to other buyers: Unless their pricing has changed, Act-On is monthly pricing and not annual. They are affordable and consistently introducing new features. If they're not in your comparison matrix, add one more column.

Pros: Great way to track what members are accessing and viewing through analytics from email campaigns and landing pages.

Cons: When connecting landing pages to websites, the navigation from the landing page back to the website is tricky to manage. Sometimes lose users because they don't find an easy way to get back to original website pages.

Comments: I have been an Act-on customer for over 2 years now and am extremely satisfied with the product and service. Act-on has really allowed us to further our marketing strategies and get a better ROI on our marketing activities. My favorite features are the reporting capabilities, the website visitor tracking and the forms.

We have also integrated Act-on with our Microsoft CRM, which has made maintaining our database much easier and more efficient.

The customer service/support received for this product is also great. I get immediate calls/emails back from my service rep or tech support. And the engineering team really listens to customer feedback and uses it to better the product.

Pros: A lot of cool features to amplify your email marketing. Customizing the design of an email does not require any knowledge of HTML, which is great for beginners.

Cons: The software does have all the general tools you need. Maybe less in depth as other tools, but still have the required ones.

Pros: Allows you to do the basic and advanced pieces of email automation.

Cons: The user interface is really unattractive and hard to navigate. The landing page creator is not scalable or great to use. May be a great tool for a small biz, but not one looking for robust features from a Hubspot or Pardot.

Comments: We switched to Act-On about 6 months ago; previously we had used Eloqua. We found, however, that Eloqua was a bit too robust for our needs. Our marketing department is 3 people, and Eloqua just took too much time to manage. There was definitely a learning curve when we initially switched, but our CSM was great, and the bi-weekly meetings really helped us get the pieces put together. Our sales team loves Act-On, and how much control they have over what they see, and we in marketing love the intuitive interface and the ease of setting up nurturing campaigns. We now have 4 long-term nurturing programs in place, and we're working on 5-6 more - more than we've ever had before!

Cons: The product had an auto-renwal clause that our legal team wanted removed from the contract but they were not willing to budge on that.

Pros: They have great customer/tech support. If it can be done, they know how, or they will find out and show me.

Cons: Building forms and landing pages are generally easy, but sometimes there are things I want to do and cannot. I am limited by the structure they have.

Recommendations to other buyers: When we evaluated marketing automation programs, we found the best value per dollar here. We use most - if not all - of the features and have really come to depend on this tool to run our business. Especially if you use a CRM or webinar tool, integration is easy, and the combo of tools together is powerful.

Pros: I love being able to track my campaign's progress.

Cons: It can be a bit challenging to find data on specific items. An example would be seeing the report of an automated email sent to a client after they fill out info on a form.

Recommendations to other buyers: Integrate the system as soon as possible and have an email list ready to upload; this way, you'll start seeing results in days.

Comments: Act-On was implemented within our marketing division and made a real difference. We are small to mid-size software company with a 5 person marketing division. We deal with lists totaling in the 8-12k range and multiple online assets to utilize. The Act-On software helped us develop and execute multiple email campaigns at the same time and create different looks for each one while keeping all materials and data under one umbrella. It also helped track visitors to our site and create and implement a lead scoring system for leads. Our closed leads rose over 17% after just 4 months. Highly recommend giving Act-On a try.

Pros: Customer support is very helpful and engaging. Training both initially, and ongoing is very strong. And the product features also run quite deep ... it does a little bit of everything.

Cons: Because the product is email-based, it's lacking some fundamental CRM features; therefore, we require a separate CRM product (though the two do integrate nicely).

Recommendations to other buyers: Take advantage of the customer support. You are initially assigned an Account Manager that will walk you through all of the features. This is extremely helpful.

Comments: Act-on is a solid marketing automation platform that is aimed at first time automation users and companies graduating from basic email marketing tools. But it's not just a "gateway" solution, it provides some advanced features found in many of he more expensive enterprise solutions. The price of entry is modest, it's easy to get started and they provide fantastic customer service that is hard to beat. There are some features that are lacking, but for most firms new to automation, you might not even know what they are. They are always adding new features and improving old ones. I give them solid recommendation.

Pros: Pretty straightforward and easy to use, and there's a lot of support whenever I need it.

Cons: The interface could be a little bit cleaner. It can be a little challenging to look through a pile of contact lists or email drafts; however, this is a very small issue considering all the great things about the software.

Recommendations to other buyers: Determine what's most important in a marketing automation system for your own business: what you will be using it for, what are your business goals, etc., and then find a system that best helps you achieve those goals.

Comments: Have used other platforms, and Act-On is fantastic. Recently switched my new company to Act-On from Pardot, and we've been very happy with the results. My favorite piece is the email marketing (including their fantastic A/B testing), and their automated programs. Integrates extremely well with Salesforce. Only thing I can ding them on is their landing page editing capabilities, but I've heard they may have something new coming in this area (although their landing page testing is good). Really love the platform, and most of all, their customer service & support is second to none. Highly recommend them!

Pros: The UI is easy to use

Cons: Lack of useful reporting features

Overall: Been using this software for a little over a year. Had there pro team build it out for us originally until the project was delayed for 2 months. Ended their pro service and ended up building it out ourselves in less then a month. It is easy to use and get started with it on your own, it lacks a lot of reporting features, you need to customize a lot of it to make the marketing reports useful in salesforce.

Recommendations to other buyers: Dont use their pro service to setup your marketing, it's easy enough to setup by yourself.

Comments: As an agency partner, we are completely satisfied with every aspect of Act-On as a platform and as a company. The tool itself provides top-notch functionality in website and CRM integration, list segmentation, email composition, and automation setup. Having used and evaluated around a dozen tools, I can safely say this is the best I've seen. Customer Service and Partner Sales Support go above and beyond to provide you with what you need. We have migrated many of our clients to Act-On and it has been a smooth transition in all cases. Highly recommended.

Pros: Act-On has an easy to use platform that builds something out of nothing. You don't have to have any base knowledge to get started with Act-On and build beautiful campaigns. The automation can make one person seem like a whole team of dedicated marketing pros!

Cons: I don't have any complaints. The Act-On support staff has helped me resolve all the issues I've experienced.

Recommendations to other buyers: Make sure the software fits how you work. Jump in, take a demo, and talk to a support rep.

Pros: I've been using Act-On for about 4 months now. It is everything I hoped it would be. The Act-On team is phenomenal. The level of support goes above and beyond any other support I've received with other Marketing Automation or CRM tools. We were up and running in a matter of weeks, including one-on-one training. Do yourself a favor and evaluate Act-On.

Cons: The Outlook plug-in isn't Mac compatible. But that is the same thing with SFDC and other systems, so I'm sort of used to that. I hope that changes sometime in the near future.

Recommendations to other buyers: Consider support. Do you want to call into an 800 number in India and wait for an email or call back?
