IQMS Production Scheduling Reviews

Material Requirements Scheduling

Customer Support

Pros: Material requirements are generated when a schedule is updated. This can be done manually or automatically throught a scheduled alert. Easy to view and schedule material requirements. Manufacturing scheduling allows visibility to all users (with security) to graphically view when work centers are scheduled and the jobs that are running/scheduled to be run. Also allows users (with security) to schedule and block times for maintenance/machine down times. Jobs on schedule are color coded, so it is easy to determine if a job will be late, on time...

Cons: When inserting a job into a designated position in the schedule, it automatically re-generates the start dates of the subsequent jobs, even if you have previously manually assigned a set start date for them.

Overall: Strong scheduling capabilities for both manufactured items and non-manufactured items.

Pros: Allows all users to easily view what requirements are needed for purchasing as well as manufacturing, quantity and when. Production can be viewed either graphically if desired.

Cons: Finite scheduling forces jobs to run one at a time on a work center.

Overall: IQMS Scheduling is very easy to use. Items turn red when they are late making users fully aware of an issue. Purchasing departments can view when materials are required and make good decisions about just in time delivery. Production floor supervisors can schedule their work load and drive purchasing material dates.

Survey of IQMS / our Needs

Customer Support

Pros: We are not fully implemented so this is answered from the implementation perspective. Again, very difficult to comment on the system without separating our complexities and preparedness. IQMS ability to support cross functional departmental needs looks very promising. The customer service gives undivided and prompt attention along with thorough consideration of our technical issues

Cons: Error messages are cryptic and difficult to understand. Consistency throughout the program is lacking, sometimes you cancel to execute a command (de allocating parts) and other times you select or YES to execute. Main Inventory screen should indicate number of parts on the shelf without needing to dig into the transaction screen and start subtracting allocated parts.

Overall: A sophisticated system that will support a fast growing company.

Customer Support

Pros: The system is very robust and has many features that can help meet your scheduling needs

Cons: If you have distribution/warehouse centers in the same eplant, the system does not support these activities. For example, when looking at what items to purchase it will tell you to purchase up to your re-order point for all locations. Therefore, if you are adding in your re-order point for the main mfg plant it also wants you to buy that amount for all of your other divisions. Secondly, if you forecast for your main manufacturing facitlity it has a hard time determining what is needed to support your warehouse locations. In the next version they attempt to correct this but it still has many issues to resolve.

Overall: If you are not using multiple locations within a warehouse, the system is pretty effective and I would highly recommend it. If you do have multiple locations within a warehouse it is very problematic.

Pros: - Enterprise-wide system allows big-picture views of projected requirements and inventory availablility
- Jump-to functionality is extremely useful
- Once you learn to navigate within the system, all modules work in a similar fashion
- Plastics-based manufacturing design is tailored for the industry
- Production schedule is 'live' & dynamic
- New module for process monitoring has great potential

Cons: - Our current version seems to be full of glitches
- Software was not primarily designed for extrusion on our scale; we have encountered difficulties applying some features to our process
- After initial implementation, IQMS Support is limited
- Help files are ok for basic functions, but do not extend to advanced application of the system
- 'Power User(s)' required at each facility since Help files are not comprehensive
- No 'Undo' functionality for schedule changes

Overall: Enterprise IQ is extremely powerful, but it takes some time after implementation to understand how it will work best for your operation.

IQMS Support and Quality Assurance departments immediately reached out to our client for specific feedback on ¿¿¿glitches¿¿¿ as there are no currently documented concerns from neither the reviewer¿¿¿s onsite IQMS implementation representative nor within our support department. In most instances, where technical support has been contacted by the reviewer, the concern/activity was addressed, accepted, and closed within 24 hours. To date, neither the Support or Quality Assurance department heads have received any information on specific concerns.

Pros: I love the different colors so at a quick glance we can tell if we have a possible issue.
Best scheduling software I have ever used - it all ties together and takes into account the daily changes

Cons: Several times there are work order in the scheduling pool that we know the start dates are not correct. We delete ALL the work orders that are related to that part and update the system again to get the correct data.

Overall: I am a huge IQMS fan! The system is remarkable.

Pros: Work Order Summary is a great quick review of jobs

Jumping from the WO to the BOM to Inventory or the SO is so quick and easy for access and information availability

Assy Track is a wonderful tool for tracking progress especially when a customer is on the phone and needs an answer immediately

Cons: Just thinking about Finite scheduling our jobs makes everyone want to take a permanent vacation. We are so unique in what we do that we may never get there. However, if we do wander over to that function we expect that we will like what we see.

Overall: Real Time, we want it, we can't wait to start using it. Since we are using Assy 1 we know we have to wait but we are anxious and ready to get started with it. We purchased this software because of Real Time, so it will be exciting for us when we have the opportunity to use is.

Pros: Ease of inserting work orders into the work centers.
Have a visual at all times when talking to customers as to where their orders stand in regards to meeting their ship dates.
Use Virtual Machines which is a must for our company.

Cons: So overwhelming that we have not even touched the surface of the Scheduling Module.

Overall: Scheduling in relation to RealTime is a must for all organizations.

Pros: We have never had a production scheduling module in our past software packages. EIQ gives us the ability to visually schedule our production runs so other departments can utilize the information. The scheduling module also ties into MRP so we can make sure that we have raw materials in house in time for production runs. Customer service utilizes the schedule to make sure that we can ship our customers and have 100% on time delivery.

Cons: We have not had any major issues with this module.

Overall: The scheduling module in EIQ allows for many departments to retrieve information needed without having to contact an individual person. It makes us more efficient in our daily responsibilities and allows us to keep our customers happy with on time deliveries.

Pros: IQMS scheduling program allows you to auto load your schedule using detailed information from the bill of materials (bom). This option can be done in a click of a button, but keep in mind it is only as good as the data entered into your database. You can chose how often you want the scheduling pool to be updated and how often you want to run auto load. The other option is to manually load your schedule from the same updated scheduling pool. It too can be updated as often as you would like. Both scheduling options offer a large variety of features and settings that allows it to mesh well with most manufacturing environments.

Cons: As I mentioned in the pros of scheduling above, different features are offered on both options of scheduling. You may like a feature on the auto load but it may not work on the manual load. You will have to experiment with both to see which is the best fit for you.

Overall: Overall, we are very pleased with IQMS. I would definitely get a core team together for review. Keep an open mind during the review and always ask yourself, "is this an organizational problem or software problem."

*Linking backwards through system allows for quick visibility of what is drving the demands and resources to support each work order
*Graphical or text format
*Superior real time information on orders status

Cons: *none to mention

Overall: IQMS scheduling has taken us to a different level in supporting customer requests. It provides an optimal view of where we are and what promises can be made. Our Customer Service group is very capable of reviewing the schedule and giving customers specific answers on job readiness. It also provided the tool for centralizing scheduling.
