We have used Simpro for more than 10 years and currently pay more than $250 per user licence per month. Unfortunately, our experience with customer support has repeatedly fallen well short of what we expect from a platform at this price. A recent forms and proposal-formatting issue demonstrates our frustration. We first reported it on 15 July 2026, and it was escalated to \[sensitive content hidden\] on 24 July, who acknowledged the problem. We followed up on 2 and 4 September, including an example showing the faults in our forms. On 7 September, we were advised that a fix was awaiting quality assurance approval. We emailed again on 21 September requesting a resolution timeframe. As of 7 October, that email remains unanswered and the issue continues to affect our ability to provide professionally formatted proposals to clients. Meanwhile, we have received two sales calls promoting payment-system add-ons and have been advised of a 15% increase in our monthly subscription fee. This has been particularly frustrating while an acknowledged problem affecting our business remains unresolved. We are now making progress towards moving away from Simpro. After more than a decade, our decision reflects the ongoing gap between the subscription cost and the practical support we receive.

Pros

We are making progress towards moving away from Simpro. Given our experience, the day we complete that transition will be very satisfying.

Cons

The high ongoing cost and lack of meaningful customer support are our main concerns. At $250 per user licence per month, we expect timely responses and practical assistance when something goes wrong. Instead, requests for help have repeatedly resulted in referrals to external affiliates offering additional paid training, generally requiring a half-day booking. In our experience, direct assistance with form customisation and practical problem-solving has been very limited. Our current formatting issue has remained unresolved for almost three months, despite repeated contact and acknowledgement from Simpro. The lack of follow-through, unanswered requests for a timeframe and continued sales contact have left us with little confidence in the support provided.

Our overall experience was frustrating, time-consuming, and full of administrative chaos. Simpro overpromised during the sales stage and failed to deliver on basic trade functionalities during onboarding. We ultimately forced a $40,000+ contract cancellation because we kept a paper trail of every broken promise. After this whole ordeal, we went back to Tradify and started utilizing more of its features. Going back to a platform built for trade businesses that actually works without the clunkiness has been a huge breath of fresh air. Make sure Simpro can independently prove it can handle your specific trade calculations before signing any long-term agreement.

Pros

Nothing about the software itself stood out as positive. The only upside was that their accounts department eventually issued us a full credit note for $40,000+ to wipe our contract balance to $0.00 after we challenged their pre-sales misrepresentations.

Cons

Clunky & Non-Intuitive Interface: Basic setup requires navigating endless confusing menus, and the platform feels completely out of touch with real trade workflows. Broken Sales Promises: Sales reps guaranteed in writing that Simpro would end "Excel chaos" and handle digital quoting seamlessly. Weeks into onboarding, their own implementation consultant admitted on record that Simpro cannot handle complex corrugated roofing calculations natively and that we would have to stick with external spreadsheets. Poor Account Support: Account management and support were slow and unhelpful when we hit major operational roadblocks. Internal Administrative Disconnect: Their internal departments completely failed to communicate—Legal initially claimed to have reviewed sales call recordings, then later claimed under the Privacy Act that no recordings existed. Weeks after our balance was zeroed out by accounts, an external collection agency emailed us out of the blue chasing payment for the cancelled contract.

Switched from

[Tradify](https://www.capterra.com/p/152413/Tradify/)

We originally made the switch from Tradify because Simpro’s sales team promised in writing that their platform would eliminate "Excel chaos," streamline our digital quoting, and centralize all our operational workflows into one place. In reality, Simpro proved to be extremely clunky and non-intuitive. Weeks into onboarding, their own implementation consultant admitted on record that Simpro couldn't natively handle complex corrugated roofing calculations and that we would have to keep using external spreadsheets anyway. After a complete administrative nightmare—which ultimately ended with Simpro issuing a $40,000+ credit note to wipe our balance to $0.00 and cancel the contract—we went straight back to Tradify. Leaning further into Tradify's features has been a massive breath of fresh air; it actually works seamlessly for Kiwi trade workflows without the bloated menus, hidden limitations, and broken sales promises.

Such a good system but have been waiting 15 years for changes that allegedly were happening and never have happened. Outrageous price increases

Pros

Simpro is a great business tool for scheduling, managing stock, invoicing but the appalling customer service and exorbitant price increases are making it a no go for small business. .

Cons

Simpro has increased prices outrageously over the past few years. This year 15% alone!!! They have over committed themselves and are now on a money grab trying to force "lightening" on the customers when its performance is poor. They make changes to the back end that cripple emailing out from the system then take 3 days to resolve. Cistomer service is appaling.

My overall experience with Simpro was extremely disappointing. It caused a great deal of stress and frustration, and we found the system clunky, unintuitive, and inefficient to use. The customer support was poor, and getting meaningful assistance when we needed it was difficult. The one thing they seemed to do well was send invoices and marketing emails. Beyond that, our experience fell well short of what we expected. When we asked to end our contract early because the system wasn't meeting our needs, we were simply told that we had to pay out the remainder of the contract. We felt our concerns were dismissed rather than addressed, which made an already frustrating experience even more disappointing. Based on our experience, I believe there are far better alternatives available. My advice would be to do thorough research before committing to Simpro, as once you're locked into a contract, it can be very difficult to leave. The one thing they seemed to do well was send invoices and marketing emails. Beyond that, our experience fell well short of what we expected. We also found ourselves locked into a contract for a system that didn't meet the expectations set during the sales process, which only added to the frustration. Based on our experience, I believe there are far better alternatives available. My advice would be to do thorough research before committing to Simpro, as once you're locked into a contract, it can be very difficult to leave.

Pros

There was honestly nothing I liked about Simpro. The best part of the entire experience was when our binding contract finally ended and we were able to leave. That was the only positive outcome. Based on our experience, I wouldn't recommend Simpro to others.

Cons

What I liked least about Simpro was the complete lack of support and communication. Whenever we needed help, it was difficult to get clear answers or meaningful assistance. The training materials and videos were poor, and the trainers didn't appear to have the practical knowledge needed to answer real-world questions. We found the system clunky, difficult to use, and not what we were led to expect. Based on our experience, I would not recommend Simpro to anyone looking for a reliable business management system.

Overall, my experience with the software has been highly positive despite a steep learning curve. It has completely streamlined how we manage our jobs, inventory, and field staff. The software is incredibly robust and capable, which makes it ideal for businesses that need to track comprehensive job costing. While it does feel overly complex and click heavy at times, the massive boost to our back office organization makes it well worth implementing.

Pros

It is an absolute powerhouse when it comes to keeping our quoting, job management, and invoicing tied together in one single source of truth. The depth of the project management features and job costing tools makes it incredibly easy to track real time profits and expenses on larger projects. Having our asset management and inventory updates sync automatically with billing saves the office team tons of admin hours every single week.

Cons

The system layout can feel quite clunky and rigid when you are first learning how to navigate it. It often takes far too many clicks just to get through a simple daily task like revising an invoice or editing purchase orders. The mobile app can also be a bit delicate after updates, occasionally lagging or requiring a full reinstall to get field notes to sync properly up to the main office dashboard.

Overall, my experience with Simpro has been very positive. It’s a powerful all-in-one platform that really helps streamline job management, from quoting through to completion and invoicing. Once you get used to how everything is structured, it becomes a central hub for running day-to-day operations efficiently. The scheduling, job tracking, and integration between different parts of the system stand out the most, saving time and improving visibility across projects. While there are a few areas that take some getting used to, the benefits definitely outweigh the drawbacks. Overall, it’s a reliable system that adds real value to managing jobs, teams, and business performance.

Pros

The user interface is very intuitive, making it easy to onboard new team members without extensive training. Job scheduling and dispatching are extremely efficient and it’s simple to assign work, track progress, and update jobs in real time. The integration between quoting, invoicing, and job management is seamless, which saves a lot of time and reduces admin errors. Reporting features are strong, giving clear insights into job costs, profitability, and overall business performance. The mobile app is a big plus for field engineers — they can update jobs, upload photos, and capture signatures on-site. Inventory management is well organised and helps keep track of stock levels accurately. Customer support is responsive and helpful when issues do come up. The system is very scalable, so it works just as well for growing businesses as it does for larger teams.

Cons

The PO (purchase order) system and work orders can be quite delicate. they need to be handled in very specific ways, otherwise it’s easy to throw off a job’s financial figures. Some workflows require multiple steps, which can slow things down for straightforward tasks. Occasional lag and the odd system crash can be frustrating, particularly when working on larger jobs or detailed quotes.

AVOID at all costs!! This company is only after your money. The sales person had an amazing pitch and sold me on convenience and process driven application which was meant to reduce the admin staff I require, instead, I had to employ an additional staff member to work Simpro properly. First - they charged a discounted rate of approx $6000NZD for set up (our replacement software Tradify had NIL set up cost). The set up was incomplete and incompatible, it was meant to reconcile with Xero however it completely missed supplier invoices, or at best sent them across incorrectly. Invoicing was a nightmare, and could take several hours to produce a single invoice. Because they couldn't get their supplier invoice system to work properly, we were told that the only solution was for the supplier to change their invoices to suit Simpro! This defies belief, the supplier is an international company LOL. When the new staff member was employed, they wanted $750NZD for 3hours of training!! Then, for every "user" it costs $200NZD per month, and if that "user" needs the mobile app, another $50NZD for month. Upon contacting them to complain, they had no complaints policy or procedure, no escalation process and when I pushed, their only response was to talk to their lawyers! I now have to finish off my contract with them as they catch you on a minimum 12 month term even though they have failed to meet their obligations.

Pros

Their sales pitch. They came to me to do the set up. They are great marketers of their own branding...

Cons

Almost every aspect. The software is really only suitable for large, multisite businesses who have the budget to spend on the software and the staff to manage it.

Really impressed - personally I can't see any other way of working for the foreseeable. I would recommend it to any business in a similar trade, as long as they are able to put the work in for implementation & ongoing dev.

Pros

Simpro has proven itself to be a reliable CRM system for our business. It is flexible and customisable to suit our ever-changing business workflows and now we've been going for a while we find it very easy to use.

Cons

Support can be lacking especially when it comes to the mobile application. The usual response it just to re-install the app.

After 2 years we are ready to quit! Very outdated, the user interface is awkward and not intuitive, it reminds us of Windows 95! We regularly loose work, I had to enter my notes THREE times recently! Support was friendly but decided that it was probably our fault and won't do anything. Infuriating!!
